Re: The Getting Old Sucks Thread

once i had to get a wisdom tooth pulled on xmas eve (emergency)

a old black was in the waiting room with me she said:

your teeth back or feet hurt you can't do nothing

she was pretty much right i can power through most pain but those 3 if they are hurting forget about it

my lower back is always in constant dull pain; i have just learned to live with it but at times it flares up past dull and man that is a solid month of just pushing through the days

NO ONE has a answer for back pain EVERYONE has a opinion how to treat it

I was just diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea. I didn't realize how bad I had it or how dangerous it is. Increased chance for heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, etc. Have to sleep with a CPAP machine now.

On a positive note, I am not a mouth-breather. I only have to wear a thing over my nose, and not my whole face, so more comfortable to sleep with. Last night was my 3rd night but 1st where I managed to keep it on all night.

One thing that help my Wife and her back is the worst. We got a new Mattress a Tempur Pedic , they are expensive as shit around 5-6 thousand but seriously worth it. We've had our second one 8 years and the reason we got that was we went from a Queen to a King. There are some sales and if you can get a good Doctor to write a prescription you can get some more off .

Nobody knows anyone who used to have a bad back. I feel for those of you who are in constant pain. Mine is more of an annoyance than pain. My T4 is locked and it creates this uncomfortable feeling of needing a crack that is unattainable. And I've tried just about everything.

I used to get relieve by contorting my back and getting smaller cracks in the area. That gave me temporary relief. Now I need to do it almost constantly, my wife see's me working out in the yard and says I look like I have Tourette's

Oh yeah, finished my last radiation treatment for my prostate cancer last Monday. A sometime stressful situation that has been going on since November is finally over. I'm going to go out and have myself a summer.

I've seen multiple chiropractors. I went through months of PT, doing all of their exercises and I bought a table so I don't hunch over on my laptop. After 2 months the therapist suggested a pain block as she has done everything she can. The block didn't help.

Re: The Getting Old Sucks Thread

In a 4 month period I was diagnosed with hyper tension, diabetes and prostate cancer. All while caring for my wife after she got her ankle replaced. Worst spring ever.

But it wasn't as bad as it sounds. The blood pressure was fixed with meds, the cancer was a breeze as far as cancer goes. The diabetes was a temporary thing, I was always pre-diabetic and I just got careless.

By just cutting out soft drinks and the 3 Oreos I ate when I first get up I have dropped 20 pounds. Had I known that's all it took I would have done it years ago. I figured I'd have to give up beer, invest in kale and take up jogging.

I took 2 of those sleep tests, it's kind of hard to fall asleep with all those sensors attached to your face. It was determined that mine was not bad enough for a CPAP and I was grateful for that.

My test was at home. I only had to wear a monitor on my pointer finger and a couple electrodes on my chest. Not sure why my experience was so much easier than other people's sleep test I have heard about.

Perhaps it is different now. Mine was so long ago it was before we all had cell phones. I know this because I missed a perfect photo op. Across from me was this guy sound asleep with his mouth open as he sat right under the sign that read Washington Sleep Center. Had I had a phone I could have captured that moment.
