Happen once before his Dad and George Young did the same thing(in the 80's) with a LBers coach his name was Parcells. |

I think I've heard of that Parcells guy. Nobody around here knew anything about that Joe Gibbs fella when he was hired, either. With this move, plus keeping the DC, it seems like the G-Men may be able to minimize the disruption of starting over. It could be a good move. Observing from afar, it just seemed to me that Coughlin didn't have the same energy as before. |
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Eagles now want Coughlin lol nobody wants to go there

It's an Eli endorsed move lets just say that. I know McAdoo was viewed as a possible replacement for Coughlin from the time he was brought in. And obviously the Eagles were interested too. |
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Seems like McAdoo was kinda like a Lovie situation down in Tampa. The Eagles were apparently really high on McAdoo as their front runner. Giants wanted to his presence in the offense to continue. Think Eli probably endorsed that line of thinking.
But keeping Spags around is dumb. |

Yeah, however, the guy they "forced out" was Ray Perkins who went 24-34, was in his first HC job, had one winning season, and resigned to take the HC job at Alabama - his alma mater. Parcells was promoted but would have been fired after his first year if Howard Schnellenberger had accepted the Giants offer but he refused. Slightly different than shoving a two-time Superbowl winner with a long HC resume out the door and keeping an OC in place so your franchise QB doesn't throw a hissy fit. Not saying it wasn't time for TC to go - just saying McAdoo's hiring not exactly comparable to Parcells. |
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
49ers expected to choose between Chip Kelly and Mike Shanahan for their next HC, per league sources. Decision likely within next 24 hours
per schefter Wow is all I can say....Shanny is seriously a candidate |
