Do you ever think that McNabb was brought here to camouflage the rebuilding to make it look like it was win now to keep fans hungry?

I won't be surprised if that was the case and if he worked out here even better. In the end the NFL is a business and maybe the McNabb move was just that a business move to hide the fact we have a long way to go.

If DS and company came right out and said this was a rebuilding year the bottom line for 2010 would look a lot different then a win now attitude about 2010.
That's a good observation, it's not as if the team has to stamp "win now" or "rebuilding" on its tickets, so they could be doing a little of both. I do think that Snyder has likely instructed everyone that they will not say "rebuilding" in public.

To me, this team has been in some form of rebuilding every other year since Snyder came in. When you change coaches there is always some 'rebuilding,' call it whatever you want.

My point is that they gave up a couple valuable picks, e.g. that 2nd rounder could've gotten us Colt McCoy if I'm not mistaken. To do that for a 33 yr. old says on the surface that you think you can win in 1-3 years. I think you're right in that they are trying to stay competitive while making some major changes. This offeason should be interesting & I look forward to seeing if Allen & Shanny can make some moves to stockpile picks.

I don't have insider, but saw this. From the first paragraphs it questions whether we really upgraded w/McNabb over JC. I would say it was a significant upgrade, though I wish JC could've stayed & become a franchise qb.

Sometimes players/teams just need a fresh start. I think that was the case with JC.

This time last year a great deal of anxiety existed among the fan base, something had to be done to fan the flames. The business side of the NFL begs to ask: How do you maintain excitement and enthusiasm among the fan base while simultaneously selling them on a rebuilding project? A clever plan was created to satisfy the curiosity of both concerns.

Exactly I think on here we ALL think what is the best move to build a winning team when DS and company think the same but with a different goal, the look for Winning Profitable Team.

This isn't HS football and profit comes before winning. How many owners would keep a in the red Super Bowl winning team year after year. Not many unless you are making money in some other market.

I agree. The whole idea is about keeping fans in the stands by whatever means necessary. The whole McNabb, Sahnahan, and Allen ordeal was about assuring that would happen, especially when you take into consideration many of the extreme's being discussed by fans in display of their displeasure over the direction of the team. Any attempt at marketing this year's team as rebuilding would have been an economic disaster.

Use me until you use me up!!

I think Allen and Shanahan were looking for a quick turnaround, a reload more than a rebuild. Still, they had to expect this year was going to be a transition year of sorts, 8-8 would definitely have to be considered a success.

Before the season started I felt 8-8 would be a reasonable expectation and I still feel that way. It's going to take at least one season for this staff to know what they do and don't have, another two years [maybe more] to get it.

I was predicting 8 and 8 all along. What I dont know is if we finish 8 and 8, and with some help, do we still get into the playoffs....

Probably need to get to 9 wins to have a shot at the playoffs, even then would need some help.

true, even so I'm not ready to say he's playing well in Oakland. He got the job back due to injury & he's had some rough outings as well as a couple nice games.

JC will come around in Oakland...trust me. They saw what we had in the beginning of the season with him.

This magic for Jason will end soon enough, trust me.

I think McNabb was brought in after all other attempts to get Bradford failed. Also by bringing him in it excited the fan base (money).

I also think Sahnahan and Bruce Allen were brought into to right the ship (winning team).

I don't fault DS for wanting to make the money, I am just calling a spade a spade. Money comes first in the NFL.

If anything, Campbell's numbers will slightly improve towards his career averages as some dreadful early-season performances are sample sized out of the way.

The Raiders are 5-4. That is amazing. Does our compensation for JC increase if certain things happen...winning record...playoffs...etc?
Playoffs?!?!
Playoffs??
