Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
He doesn't even have a big contract to absorb. I just don't get why the Rams just gave him away. Guess they thought they owed Haslett something?
They just got far enough into the process that they realized other teams knew Carriker didn't fit into the Rams system and thus realized the Rams had no bargaining power. We may end up in the same boat with Carter, although I think a guy not coming off an injury and having 11 sacks should be worth much more. |

Actually he technically is: Redskins OLB/DE Andre Carter (biceps surgery) is already in Remember he tore it late during the season. |
Still, the Bradford Boners are going to come up with ridiculous stuff between now and then draft...until we make our move. I'm still waiting for the "We can still get Bradford" thread after the Rams pick him up.
We should trade Carriker and our #1 to the Rams to move up. :) |

Have you sent in your resume yet Tripp? ;) |

WOW!!! We swapped 5th & 7th for a former 1st round pick did i read that correctly?

With that said, our solutions on offense throughout this offseason have appeared to be some combination of the formula (Mike Shanahan's hubris + the 4th overall pick) = wins!! No research I've ever done suggests that is going to work, but both Shanahan's seem quite convinced that it will. Of course, I would expect nothing less.
My research suggest that this post is a massive buzz kill :D
WOW!!! I guess you could say that our original 5th round pick was like a late 4th rounder but for a first round pick I won't mind taking such a "hit." |
Have you sent in your resume yet Tripp? ;)
Those crazy employers at today's career fair wanted to know where my resume was. I asked them: haven't they heard of me?! I'm kind of a big deal.

do you have many leather bound books? |
Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
When we drafted Laron Landry, I wanted Carricker. I guess looking at this trade, we did the right thing taking Landry. It looks like they gave us Carriker, for a pack of Snickers. I am still happy we got him. I think he would fit perfectly in a 3-4 at DE.

Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Proof that we now have professionals running this team. Great pick. If I recall correctly, alot of mock drafts had us taking Carriker in 2007 at 6th overall (him or Okoye). We got Landry (who I'm still high on) and get Carriker 3 years later for moving down 28 slots in the 5th round.....great job.

Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
why do we need more picks? we traded our 2nd and got a franchise QB. we traded a 5th for a former 1st rounder who Haslett feels will be an ideal DE in our new 3-4. The only picks this new coaching staff have traded have yielded Day 1 starters. Its rare that 2nd and 5th rounders amount to that.
Its not like years past when we traded 3rd and 4th round picks for TJ Ducket and Brandon Lloyd. Its not like 2008 when we traded a 2nd and 6th for Jason Taylor. We're not just pissing away our picks. Would I like to acquire more picks - hell yes. But if we dont, i'm satisfied that we traded our picks for players who will fit our system and who project to be starters in 2010, 2011, and 2012, at the least. The only think i'm upset about is using a 3rd rounder on Jarmon. If we had kept the 4-3, it would have been a great move. however, in retrospect, its a completely wasted pick. Jarmon really doesnt fit anywhere in a 3-4 scheme... I can't beleive we're moving him to OLB.
And you base this on what, exactly? |

If I'm correct, he was regarded more as a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB, but he has the size and speed and now Lou Spanos as a position coach. Jeremy Jarmon: 6-3, 277 lbs, 4.71 DeMarcus Ware: 6-4, 262lbs, 4.6 It's also only been one season. I think Jarmon was a good pick-up last year. Plus, if he was in the draft this year I think he would easily go in the 2nd rd. |
