Some times keeping it real is more like "making a name". It makes sense to probe that area of questioning...I'm not sure the way he did it showed much skill. He is not the Mike Wallace of the DC sports media apparently.

Agreed. RG3 does not need anymore publicity than he is already getting. His head may swell up even more. He needs to focus on being a QB and reading defenses, not sitting in front of cameras.

Based on this guys usage of the english language, he aint no Joe Gibbs...that is for sure....love the intensity...but c'mon, you really need to drop f bombs excessively to motivate? The only similarity is that he was an offensive coordinator...but with Gruden, the emphasis is more on 'offensive" than coordinator.

Waiting for the pansy bashing for suggesting a coach can motivate without being dishonerable

They're grown men, not a middle school team. It's not like the guy is Rutger's Mike Rice. If this is his style, so be it, just get out there and execute.

Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins

My main concern is still defense. It has sucked for years. Sticking with our current staff just doesn't make sense. I mean...the first few games I think we had the worst defense in last 50 years in the whole NFL. But now, because they hired Gruden...he's got links to all of them....and I believe Haslett was a prior boss. I just hate all the inbreeding at Redskins park. I was frankly hoping for a coach to come in and clear house defensively and special teams....it would have made more sense, based on performance, to retain Kyle and cut Hasslet (who chronically has bad defenses) and the special teams coach.

Keeping our defensive coachies..ie doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of stupidity. I sure hope Gruden has the balls to cut Haslett. That would show a lot. At that point, he will gain my respect....and probably the players too.

They're grown men. You think the Cowher's, Tomlin's, Belichick's, and Harbough's etc don't drop a f bomb when they're upset with the execution of a practice.

I saw that...the BIG EYES were in response to 2 questions in a row about RG3....his expression was like MAN...are you serious? RG3, RG3, RG3...how about some coaching questions...I don't want to chronically be asked about a single player.

It looked like he was a bit suprised about the press' infatuation with RG3 and may be thinking these press meetings are going to be a bigger pain in the butt than he thought

I dont know about anyone else, but is anyone else pumped about the possibility of finally having a spread offense in Washington. Thank you lord. I wouldn't be surprised if players like A. Robinson play well if kept. Imagine the possibility of Morris running against 6-7 man boxes. Instead of congesting the the field.

kinda cool...but...how does any of this solve our defensive problems....I mean our defense is a disaster...I think the bigger news would be if we somehow score a Wade Phillips or something.

Remember 4 years ago when Shanny and Allen were hired?
People were more pumped about finally having a GM than a Superbowl coach.
Why?...because it was more desperately needed.
I think after it is all said and done, the defensive fix (if there is one) will be the more impactful decision.

Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins

Regardless of what styles of offenses this team uses or who the HC is, the defense has to change.......Jarvis Jenkins, Barry Cofield, Brian Orakpo, and Ryan Kerrigan would make a bad ass four man front....they are all natural 4-3 personnel......have Perry Riley Jr. as the MLB, Rob Jackson as ROLB and perhaps Brandon Jenkins as the LOLB......the secondary needs to be totally rebuilt....

Jay Gruden's team won,

Why we take Gruden and Haslett,
seems wrong based on their history.

Just two average C's,

Why didn't we get a Seahawks coach

And maybe finally utilizing the backs in the passing game and running some draws to offset the pass rush.

Morris > the law firm, but Helu < Giovanni

Davis likely gone, but if not maybe we could finally see some 2 TE sets. I bet Gruden could get more out of Hankerson and Morgan than Shanny did. Shanny was too preoccupied with filling up his dog house.

Riggins would have never seen the field because he drank beer during the week.

Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins

Jay and Haslett have worked together before. Can't blame haslett imo yet.. yet.. he had literally Kerrigan,Orakpo,Cofield, & Hall last year. We need so many improviments across the board its sad. Nobody showed me development thru the season it was depressing. We can't clean house but we have gap fillers and more fillers no real talent trust me we need some signings and have to find late rounders who pan out. Last year's draft was the Defensive jim Zorn Devin Thomas Malcolm Kelly draft.
