Mershawn Lynch intrigues me the most. It feels like he could be had for our fourth round pick and he's only 24 years old. Then again we have like infinity billion running backs and negative infinity billion draft picks. Lynch also has a handful of legal problems. However, and you probably know more about this then I do, but how did he get into Cal Berkley without being smart?

I mean I know they probably didn't hold him to the same standards going in as their other students but to attend Cal-Berkley something has to be working right in that otherwise messed up head of his. Then again UGA has some pretty loose standards with athletes. I've had friends with 1,300 SAT scores that have been denied admittance while hearing about athletes with 800 SAT scores.

Found this on Mershawn:

Immaturity and bad decisions are not a direct line correlation to a lack of intelligence.

That being said, I would have been in favor of going after Lynch before we stocked up at RB with veterans but I think Portis, Johnson, Parker and Alridge will give us a nice rotation that provides a decent balance of power and speed for 2010.

lynch would be a good pickup, portis could garner a 4th, 3rd possibly

Some of the players that coach has aquired will be conditioned and trained then be applauded by the team in the summer just to be used as trade bait. The plan that is being implemented will last all summer and into this season. I just hope they do not get a reputation for being sneaky, just smart.

Redskins | Shanahan says Tebow could play special teams initially

Thomas George, of NFL Fanhouse, reports Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he could use Florida QB Tim Tebow on special teams initially if the team were to select him in the NFL Draft due to his size and physicality. "I think the guy is such a competitor. Wherever he ends up playing he will do a good job," Shanahan said. "He is such a worker. How are you going to use him? How long will you give him to develop? He is such an athlete. You know he is going to work. Maybe you put him on special teams. He has the size of a linebacker or tight end. He is not afraid of hitting people. It's a way to use him more and early on the 45-man roster. I wouldn't hesitate to do that.''

And the chance of signing tebow is about.... zero.

People are saying maybe even a late 1st round pick for him, but t least a 2nd rounder. Even if we somehow get a 2nd round pick, i think we go O-line, LB, RB, but NOT a 4th QB/special teams person...

Just read on Matt Mosley's NFC East blog on ESPN we might be opening up the season at home against the Cowboys.
And by the way, Aikman said he'd heard a rumor that the Cowboys would be opening the season on the road against Donovan McNabb and the Redskins. Since Aikman is employed by the network that would likely broadcast that game, I'd say it's a pretty good lead.

meh. neither landry or Haynesworth will be with the team after the draft so, other than the fact that the potential compensation we would receive in a trade is reduced even further, this really doesn't concern me.

Landry seems far more of the "more trouble than he's worth" kind of player. Wasn't he the one who did not show up till the last day of the June mini camp? If we could trade him to the Saints for anything of value I would do it in a heartbeat.

I have a hard time believing he would be upset about hearing he was almost traded. I mean AH is in that catagory, so is JC so has Portis, and Carter so I can't imagine he would be up in arms about a possible trade that didn't happen. Atleast not mad enough to walk out.

Unless a trade was made and he's unhappy about where he's going, or they informed him to stay home also like JC.

I would think Laron landry also understands that the NFL is also a business. landry si in the last year of his rookie deal. If the Redskins plan to move in a different direction, then seeking trade opportunities make sense before losing him for nothing to free agency next year.

i'm assuming he means denver since he said "up" here. its high altitude, out west, and we've been rumored to be trading for Marshall for quite a while. hopefully it pans out. Marshall would instantly make all of our receivers better by making them play positions theyre more suited for (Thomas as #2 and Moss in the slot). Those three plus Cooley and/or Davis and we'd have a rather nice passing attack. With McNabb under center we'd have a legit offense (assuming the line is addressed).

i'm more intrigued that Smoot indicated the bleacherreport nonsense may end up being true. a 3rd and 4th to Oakland for Campbell? high picks in each round. very happy for us. very sad for campbell.

SmootSmack 04-12-2010 04:35 PM

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)

I don't know for a fact that he left practice because he's upset. I know that the rumor (more than a rumor) has him upset but won't assume that his absence from practice is directly related.

From my past professional experience with Landry, he just doesn't show up whenever he feels like not showing up. And he's not to one really give any reason for it

And I've said a few times that Landry and Kelly/Moss and possibly a Saturday pick have been tied to Marshall rumors

As for the Oakland rumor, just to be clear I wasn't saying there is a pending Oakland for a 3th and 4th rumor. Just that Oakland is a legit partner and that compensation aligns with most rumors (though perhaps a bit higher than most rumors)

We also could all have no idea what's going on with Landry. It could be a simple as his monkey having a vet appointment for annual shots.

I'm in a bad mood when I know how much I'm forking over to the vet for my dog's shots...no matter how much I have, it's the principle in the matter...they jack up the prices for what takes 30 seconds to do.

Online rumor mills and Twitter tend to do that.
