Re: Schefter: "There's no way" the Rams won't pick Sam Bradford at No. 1
Well, I think Williams is in the tail end of his career, and I think BA could get a good deal done there. I think right now he's the top UFA NT available, and we need players that have 3-4 experience.
I saw them during the combine on the NFLN, and the pundits were talking about these guys fitting well in the 3-4 at NT.
If that is the case, then we should leave Williams alone, especially if we need to use a draft pick on the nose. I am hoping Monty steps up....finally. |

Yeah but Monty has no 3-4 experience. These youngsters would learn from Williams. I'm getting more confidence in the FO to be able to make a good deal and not overpay someone like Williams. |
Re: Schefter: "There's no way" the Rams won't pick Sam Bradford at No. 1
Jeez it would be fantastic if Monty could breakout as a dominant NT, but it would be downright irresponsible for our FO to gamble on it. Monty hasn't flashed jack squat and may not have the talent to be a legit NT anyway.

So what are the chances we trade jason campbell, I say this because you'd be surprised what teams are willing to give up draft pick wise to get a QB.

Re: Schefter: "There's no way" the Rams won't pick Sam Bradford at No. 1
So I was just watching Sam Bradford's Highlights and Clausen's highlights, and I got to say that all Sam throws are short passes, and mid passes, rarely to never did he go deep. Also part of the reason why he had so many yards passing is because his receivers would get twice the yards on a throw from Sam (if Sam threw the ball 7 yards the receivers would pick up 14yards for example). Clausen however, throws the ball all over the field. The farthest throw I saw him make and complete was a 55 yard ball, where as Bradfords farthest from what I saw was 40 yards. I'm sure people are saying hey throwing deep balls doesn't matter that much, but they do, especially in the NFL they sure as hell matter. Also in the NFL the corners know how to wrap up and take down receivers after the catch unlike Washington or Baylor for example from his highlight tape where Jauquin Igelisas or Ryan Broyles turns a 7 yard slant into a 65 yard TD. Clausen definitely seems like the NFL QB for sure, plus he didn't play with a good OL anyway so he's already fit for the skins. I'm very curious to see how far Sam can throw..

Sounds like the west coast offense |
Re: Schefter: "There's no way" the Rams won't pick Sam Bradford at No. 1
I was thinking that the draft may be more different than I ever expected. You see I had forgotten what real football was like. You don't know what Shann-a-Allen will draft? They may trade down and get a few more picks and then trade picks and players for the future. If they don't trade down I have to say, Okung in the first, if he's the best OT for the scheme. Then I'd get Toby Gerhart. We need a LT and a RB. They cleared the stable. We also need a FS more than anything. They've enough picks to find some good guys as well as a few undrafted guys. I'm looking forward to it more as the time goes by.

Watch more people in our fan base suddenly lobbying for us to draft Bradford. People love what they can't have. Personally though I don't blame the Rams at all. I mean they already have two first round D-Lineman and two first round O-Lineman (4 out of their last 5 first round picks). It's one thing to build from the lines out but at some point it becomes overkill. Bradford to the Rams makes a ton of sense. Of course that leaves us free to get Jimmy or Okung. Life is still good.
Bodies tend to heal and stuff like that. It's really weird. |
Re: Schefter: "There's no way" the Rams won't pick Sam Bradford at No. 1
CultBrennan59 no offense mAn but you don't know much about Sam bradfords capabilities. You watch "highlights" I watched his actual games on every snap. He has a cannon of an arm, is deadly accurate and is a great athlete. Did it ever cross your mind why this guy could be the number 1 player picked after he basically sat out a yr? There is a reason why most experts compare him to the likes of drew brees and Peyton manning. He has that "it" factor . I like clausen too and I wouldn't mind drafting him only if Sam is gone at 4.

Sorta funny... review film on the mighty Sam Bradford, the guy expected to turn any franchise around, and yes sir what you really notice is his weak arm. I saw the same thing. Wobbly, shorter passes that had little mustard on 'em. I guess it's entirely possible for a guy to develop tremendous arm strength after college(?) but my word I would have to SEE it to believe it. Has anyone seen Bradford throw since the end of the college season? |

When I watch this guy I see two QB's that he's capable of being: Kurt Warner (Good) and Alex Smith (Bad) And aren't highlights supposed to be all of his good plays/the best plays he's had? Isn't that the point of highlights? So you're saying I should watch game film, because I need to see how bad he can be as well? Thats not being very defensive of your QB in this argument. Didn't Ryan Leaf get compared to Dan Marino? Did Joey Harrington get considered to be the best QB of that draft? Wasn't Big Ben considered overrated because of the easy conference he played in? You, nor I can definitively say what Sam Bradford will become in the NFL. Do you know how many times I've heard some QB has the IT factor? A lot. I remember hearing Joe Theismann and Mike Patrick up in the both saying that our very own back up QB, Colt Brennan, has the IT factor. I believe that Clausen also has the IT factor, and hey maybe Tebow has IT as well. Also I very very much disagree with the whole Bradford has a Cannon arm thing. I believe Peyton has a cannon arm, Matt Stafford has a cannon arm, McNabb, Favre, Cutler, Jamarcus Russell, Josh Freeman, and Flacco have Cannon arms. I don't understand how you can say that Bradford has a cannon arm, especially Right Now, after having shoulder surgery. But back to my point, even before he messed up his shoulder, the balls were coming out wobbly and somewhat slow at times. I'm watching Clausen throw a slant as well as a hitch route and that ball gets slung and gets there so fast, I watch Bradford do the same thing and the ball gets there, but slightly later than Clausen's. Bradford does have great awareness of when to get rid of the ball and move, which is far greater than Jason Campbell's, thats for sure. But the thing that I really want to see is how these QB's play against NFL defense, and audibling out of plays or certain protections. Clausen I know has gone against at least one definite NFL type Defense, and thats USC's. Bradford's defenses he has gone against are mostly college type defenses, maybe Texas's is considered a NFL defense but other than that, no not really any other schools. I would have really of wished that Sam had not of gotten injured because I wanted to see how he would do behind such a bad OL, much like ours. |

Re: Schefter: "There's no way" the Rams won't pick Sam Bradford at No. 1
Cult59 I agree with you about young unproven qbs. I'm not saying Bradford is is going to be manning, but the kid Is smart and has all the tools to become that type of player. As for his arm I don't think it's as strong as te likes of Russell, or flacco but I've seen the guy throw the ball 60+ yards in the air on a rope. I hope he's our guy but the way it looks right now, I would say the rams will draft him.

Re: Schefter: "There's no way" the Rams won't pick Sam Bradford at No. 1
As long as a QB's arm strength is not lolChadPenningtonlol weak, you can get by in this league if you have all your other skills well-developed. P. Manning and D. Brees both had "questionable" arm strength coming out of college and I guess that really didn't matter, didn't it?
That said, most fans probably couldn't tell "who has the stronger arm, Eli or Daunte Culpepper" since because Eli won a Super Bowl, he must have the stronger arm. NOT. |

Bradford did face an NFL level defense, Florida in the NCAA Championship. |

Florida played multiple defenses that year they lined up in every thing from a 1-5-5 defense to a 5-2-4 defense, I still feel like Clausen played against more NFL defenses than Bradford, plus he played an NFL offense in college. But yes, Floridas defense was probably the toughest defense he played his college career, and he threw 2 TD's and 2 Int's, and was sacked twice from what I remember. So average at best stats against a good defense with a really good offense around him. Re: Schefter: "There's no way" the Rams won't pick Sam Bradford at No. 1
Word around here is the rams really liked Sam when they visited with him and also consider him as their number 1 player on the board
|
Re: Schefter: "There's no way" the Rams won't pick Sam Bradford at No. 1
I think Shanny and Bruce prefer Bradford and will probably pursue a trade up offer to get him. It seems like forever since someone traded up for the number 1 it might have been the Rams going after Pace. We don't know for sure if the Rams will trade their top choice, so Clausen will be the second choice for the Skins. So it appears that Washington will trade up for Bradford, stay at four and take Clausen or maybe Okung, or send out signals that they like Clausen hoping the Browns want to trade up to four to get him. It's all question mark and the mysterious right now.
