Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Sometimes the difference between first place and last place is simply having a safety who can run.
Good job, good effort, RG3. |
No, the safety's were not playing 2 deep. They were up just five to seven yards behind the cb's. Williams gambled early and shaded over the help the cb on the outside. The slot receiver easily got past Wilson and Williams was too far outside to make up the ground to go back to the inside receiver.
The safety's in that situation should have never been that close to the line of scrimmage. They should have been at least another 5 to 10 yards further back and they should not have committed that early in the play. Williams from the snap decided he was going to help the outside CB. Bad coaching. Bad play calling. Bad job by the players involved.
ok. im not sure why the safety is concerned about ANYTHING other than getting beat deep there - he sucks |
we'd be 0-7 if all we did was hope to win games.
I dont mean that you play prevent and safe from start to finish of every game. I mean that you do it when your team has played their hearts out and ELI MANNING (who has made a living of game winning drives ) has the ball with 1:30 left and we have a horrible secondary. I mean - obviously the Giants are going to pass at that point of the game. So - yes - in that postion - on this day - against that QB - you play it safe, and you hope he misses some throws, or they miss the FG - worst case scenario is we have a chance to win in OT. |
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
This safety situation doesn't bode well for the Steelers game. Considering the Steelers run game is a bit hampered with injuries to Mendenhall AND Redman (though they both may be back next week), if they don't play, expect Big Ben to expose the deep pass all night.

If we let Eli sit in the pocket and we show him standard pass defenses he will torch us for touchdowns every single time, period. I'm done arguing this point. |
There's nothing to argue really, our d sucks period. We give up 27 ppg folks! Is what it is, this team has to have the ball last every game in order to win. Today ny had it with too much time left obviously and they killed us. It's not like today was the first time, we have given up 300 yards to every qb

Were talking about the last 1:30 of the game. OR - im sorry were arguing about it. Its ok to have different opinions - thats the whole point of a post game thread conversation. |

at least we can agree on that. |
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Look, it's someone's fault that Madieu Williams is a significant part of our defense. Obviously, the issues the secondary is having were preventable at some point.
For the future, it's going to have to be a point of emphasis in the draft. There's not a whole lot we can do until then except enjoy the shootouts and hope not to turn the ball over four times next game. |
Ive been a fan since the late 70's - seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. Not sure how you can make that statement though about the Skins and Giants because if we play our best today we beat them in their house>? 5 turnovers - and we were a minute from beating them?
Yea, you've seen it for sure. But then you know even when the Redskins were at their best, there were always certain teams that had our number. Remember 1989 when the Cowboys went 1-15? guess who they beat? The Giants not only have a better team but they know how to beat us with a less than stellar effort. As for the Skins, well... they still know how to lose a game. A few years back I used to tell Matty we had losing/wins. This game was a winning/loss at best. Yes, we should have won today. Hopefully the Giants play as crappy next time we meet them. HTTR!!! |
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
While this game stings especially the end. I am watching the Jets game and I have to say at least we are not Jets fans. Sanchez blows!

Didnt we beat them in the 90's and hand them like one of their only losses when we were basically losing every game? - However since we beat the Giants twice last year and SHOULD HAVE beat them today (if it werent for the turnovers) im going to disagree that they have our number. I feel like we have theirs acutally. I dont think the Giants played Crappy - I think we played great. Just boils down to turnovers. Hopefully next time we dont have turnovers. HTTR!!! |
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Did anyone actually think we didn't have a legit shot to win that game at the end? We're close to being a good team. We lost to a definitely good team today and didn't play our best. Considering we all had pretty modest expectations I can't get too down.

Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Well, do you think the Eagles and Cowboys are better than us? I dont. After the game you just watched - do you think we have a shot to beat the Giants at home? - I do. So we are two games out of the division lead with FIVE division games in hand. We have a quarterback and also overshadowed is that we have a field goal kicker. Our d is obviously a liability. The Giants D got gashed today - gashed. Ask Eagle fans what they think of their D. Ask Eagle fans what they think of their O? Ask Dallas fans the same questions. There is ABSOLUTELY no clear cut favorite in the NFC east. The Giants are currently 1-2 in the division (barely). So do not tell me they are running away with anything.
- I don't think they're better than us either, but that doesn't mean we don't beat ourselves and lose. Oh and Michael Vick is undefeated against us when he plays a full game. We just can't seem to beat him or get to him (and thats with Orakpo) - The guy makes 3 field goals and all of a sudden we have our FG kicker? PLEASE! Billy Cundiff went 4/4 against the Saints and we 'had our FG kicker' -True there is no clear cut favorite, but a lot of football fans would go with the Giants since they have a DL that can get pressure, a QB, and were just in the super bowl last year when nobody thought they were the favorite to go to the playoffs or even the super bowl. |
