The fact that you believe Cousins is a problem and our defense kept us in the game is enough for me to realize that arguing with you is a waste of my time.
Cousins was a problem, just check his stats for how much he was sacked, how many times he fumbled and how many times he was nearly picked off. And if you ignore how it was the D that handed us early points and great field position and stifled the GB offense early on, well that's your mistake, no loss to me. |
Our Defense let us down?
ROFL, they gave us a huge start to the game, it's because of the D that we had a lead at the beginning. It was the Offense that failed to seal the deal, Cousins made too many mistakes. Cousins does well against weak teams, but is too mistake prone when facing skilled teams.
Our defense gave up 17 points. With the game still salvageable GBay ran it down there throats to put them up by 14. Cousins made mistakes, so did the OLine which gave up multiple clean rushes. Enjoy the feeding troll. Last one I give you. |
Re: Cousins has arrived
GB scored on what, 6 of their last 7 possessions, but yeah great job. WTF

Guys this is a typical troll don't feed the clown just like most "fans" on social media who are all of the sudden saying don't pay kirk lol.

Re: Cousins has arrived
Packers made adjustments on offense. Our defense stood still. This game was not good for my confidence in Barry.
Hopefully Culliver and Gallette both come back healthy. Those 2 would be a huge boost. With the secondary as is, we have to pressure the QB. After the first quarter we never really hit Rodgers. That to me is the lead reason why we lost. There are others. Really hope w can run the ball well again next season. |

Our inability to scheme the run game help sink the team today. Green Bay didn't respect it so they just pinned their ears back and rushed cousins. |

Defense. .. o line.... REFS

Re: Cousins has arrived
You need balance in the playoffs...any qb throwing 46 times in the playoffs means you had a shitty day on defense (check) and your run game was ineffective (check, we didn't try to run)

Re: Cousins has arrived
2 things that will always lead to winning:
1. Running the ball successfully 2. Rushing the passer successfully Packers did both things better and we lost. |

We need more than that though. We need quarterback killers. Plural. Culliver was not good before the injury. Like I said we need passrush, some oline help, and a rb. Edit: add safety. |

I can live with Breeland and him as 1/2. We need to get at least 1 more CB for depth. With Gallette, Smith, Kerrigan, and Murphy, I don't know if there is room on the roster for another OLB. Don't see them ditching Murphy that fast. We could get more pressure with better DE play. I see us spending at least 2 picks on the D line, unless handle thru FA. |

Love Preston Smith.
Kerrigan does seem to have no influence a few too many games. But he's a Hog kinda guy. Want him on the team for a while. Hopefully he can get to 12+ sacks. Him, Smith, and Gallette would be a very solid pass rush combo at OLB. Smith pick looks better and better by the week. |

Cousins is the QB next year. Like him love him or hate him. That's our guy and if we don't sign him he's getting franchised. He's not gonna sign for less than that for 1 year.

Re: Cousins has arrived
I like what i see from Cousins .. in this system with these weapons.
Cousins "cliche" talk about re-signing scares me. "I want to be where I am wanted," said Cousins, who now becomes a free agent, "and you want to be with people who believe in you and we are going to find out -- because we haven't discussed it much yet -- how much I am wanted and where that'll go." Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins: 'I want to be where I'm wanted' - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN Cousins sounds like he is saying, "show me the money" and that he is going highest bidder. dont over play your hand kirk. you had a great season but you were put in position to succeed by others around you as well. gruden/mcvay called plays to your absolute strengths and masked your weaknesses. reed and co. did a great job of getting you targets and catching the ball. a weak final 4 game schedule also helped coming from 5-7. film of this offense will be out next year and d coordinators are going to do what the pack did last night. |
Re: Cousins has arrived
I wouldn't read too far into his comments. He knows this is the best spot for him. He doesn't seem like a chase the money kind of guy.
|
Re: Cousins has arrived
I agree -- too much character to be a jerk in the negotiations, I would think.
Separately, I saw Randall Cobb's video clip saying that he wasn't trolling Kirk Cousins by saying "You like that" after the game -- he was really "channeling his inner Cousins" and responding as Kirk did to everyone doubting the Redskins by showing some fight because the same thing was happening to the Packers the last few weeks. Seemed totally classy and I came away impressed with the dude. |

Cousins is definitely on the rise. Crazy talk to say that Cousins didn't play well. Had a higher completion % and about 120 yards more than Rodgers (and no picks). Did he miss a few throws and take a few risks? Sure. But his line wasn't particularly stout yesterday (to put it mildly -- even Trent got worked over a few times), and the running game never got going. Can't pin the loss on him in any way. The inability to stop the Packer's run game killed us -- it opened up the passing game for Rodgers and he did what he always does. The guy is like a surgeon. |
Re: Cousins has arrived
Cousins is going to get paid, probably overpaid, whether it is here or somewhere else.
IMO, the only way he isn't on this team next year is one of two things. 1) Another team offers him so much money that the offer is too good to refuse and all other factors are overlooked. 2) He secretly is not interested in returning and has enough offers from other teams that he finds one he likes. I don't think the offer from us will be bad. In fact I think if it comes down to it the panic button may be pushed and he is franchised, eliminating any question about 2016 at least, which will make all this speculation moot. |
Re: Cousins has arrived
They will tag him . before that happens. SM isn't stupid he knows u need a QB

Re: Cousins has arrived
The top 9 QBs get $20 mil+ a year, if the Redskins don't give Kirk 4-5 years at $20 mil pretty sure there a half dozen+ other teams that would.
I think you could franchise him for $20 mil for a year if you want to test drive him a little longer. |
Im wondering about Kerrigan. He is invisible too often. Feel like he gets a pass. Idk.
Love Preston Smith.
I don't feel like he was ever good enough to a primary pass rusher. If teams focus on him he tends to disappear. Needs to be more depth behind him and a better player on the other side. |

I would agree but I've heard ( on the radio) that he hasn't felt like he's been treated fairly by the organization. Maybe he was bitter that he had to compete for the #2 with McCoy, or maybe being benched last year, who knows. But I did hear that from one of the local sports talk stations that he's not exactly in love with team management. Perhaps that's all done with now that SM is here. |

It's just part of doing business in the NFL. QB's are getting big money. |
Cousins has arrived
"I do feel believed in here," he said. "This organization, they put their necks on the line for me at the start of the season, and so that says a lot right there. We’ll go from there and see where things play out."

This is the scary part. It would be great to do a one year deal but that's just not how it works. A few months ago, I said KC would get a 60+ mill contract and most people laughed. Looks like we were all wrong. He's going for 80-100Mil and that's based on what other teams are willing to pay him. Hopefully we get a good deal that will allow us to add talent so we can hopefully be relevant for the next 10 years. |

He was #1 a fourth round pick.....and #2 a developmental project. The final three games of 2013 after Robert Griffin was shut down by Mike Shanahan he struggled....and he struggled mightily in 2014 after Griffin went down....what did he expect? There's one journeyman QB and the franchise QB ahead of him on the depth chart. And in 2015 he again struggled before he got hot....Cousins poor play determined his spot on the depth chart in 2014.... When he was named the starter for 2015 over Colt McCoy I was very surprised by that! |

I agree with a lot of the posters on cousin's attitude doesnt reflect that he wants to be here.
I have been all in on Cousins but still have concerns. He had a terrible 4th qtr yesterday and looked rattled by the pressure. When he has a clean pocket he's very good, but pressure makes him Brian Hoyer. My biggest concern is stat I just read today which is unbelievable and gives me pause for concern COUSINS HAS NEVER BEATEN A TEAM WITH A WINNING RECORD!! If that doesnt concern you than...... |

If that doesnt concern you than......
Cousins like a lot of other really good qb's can put a team on his back and win when facing an average to below average team. Maybe with a run game and a defense he could beat the better teams too. Its a team sport and it makes perfect sense that one man might not be able to get it done alone. Hell alot of quarterbacks wouldnt be able to do half of what Cousins has done this year on this team. Next year after SM fixes the run game and the D you will see this "team" take the next step - which generally means beating the good teams. HTTR Edit: the more i hear that stupid stat line the more aggravated i get. I mean I dont know how many tries KC has had against winning teams, but this team from 2013-14 couldn't beat freaking anyone. Ofcourse KC had a losing record against the good teams. This year we lost to some pretty damn good teams with winning records. The Pats game u can put on the damn wr's. The Panthers and Packers absolutely torched our D. Just a dumb stat. Dumb to lay it on KC. Not you personally of course but the media. |
Re: Cousins has arrived
Cousins has plenty of room to elevate his game, especially since he is about to get paid, but I'd hardly point his way when it comes to the biggest concerns from the game last night.
QB Pressure can make even the best look average. QB pressure made Brady look pedestrian in 2 Superbowls. I am not saying Cousins should never be expected to handle pressure, but when you get it consistently, on top of the fact that the running game is so awful that the the opposing defense doesn't even have to stay honest? Forget about it. When it comes to the pass rush? I've said it for a few seasons now, we have been trying to get by with crossing our fingers that the sum of the parts will equal more than what each individual has to offer. Kerrigan is a B+ just like Orakpo was a B+ as well. Preston Smith has had a great rookie year, but so did the other two guys and but it didn't translate into them growing into elite pass rushers. Our pass rush has a couple Aldon Smith's but no A+ caliber Justin Smith who takes on a double team and still pushes the pocket backwards. You need someone along the D-line who is an A+ in order for the B+ players to be effective consistently. |
