The fact that McCoughan liked Kirk Cousins in 2012 means nothing, Kirk has 18 TDs /19 Int. and a propensity to turn the ball over in clutch moments. He can make all the throws but doesn't have the mental fortitude to be a top tiered starting QB.
I ask all you KC fans, what makes him different from Rex Grossman?
Rex is better. |
Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
He is younger and that is about it. Both interception machines....

I ask all you KC fans, what makes him different from Rex Grossman?
Agree that's what he was last year. I also believe he can be coached out of his problems more than the other two QBs. With the new GM, our next QB may not even be on the roster. Albert Breer was on The Drive with Cooley going through the process the Seahawks went through before finally finding Wilson. He said they would continue to spend low picks on QBs and acquire FAs QBs on the cheap until finding the right guy. He equated the process to throwing darts at a dart board and McCloughan was a big believer in throwing a ton of cheap darts till you find the right guy. A huge contrast to spending all of your first round picks for the foreseeable future on one player. |

Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
McCloughan says that good teams' lifeline is the draft. I love that he puts more emphasis on a long range vision than getting a quick fix through free agency. Hallelujah!!!

WOOHOO!!!!!!
This guy is.......what we need!!!! Httr!!!! !!!!!!!!......!!!!! Great presser |
Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
SM is exactly what we needed here. That was so refreshing to hear. Thank god Snyder and Allen hired this guy.

Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
Scot on Grant and Danny is a great interview, I love what he is saying. Power run, build the line. find out what the DC want to do (3-4/4-3) then get the players.

Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
Rex is better.
All this KC/ Rex crap is so stale and old. Judging off last year, we don't have a complete QB on the team. But what I really like what SM said today was that let's not give up on a guy too soon. And let's give whoever the QB is a line and not ask him to win the game. RG3 has 35 or 36 starts. He can get better and needs to if he wants to be the starter. KC doesn't even have 10 starts. Really stupid say he's Rex after a small sample size. He needs to get better if he wants to start. To me that means competition between whomever is here. The QB situation will play itself out. |

Exactly I am not saying he is drunk or under the influence now but you get shakes like that when your body is missing alcohol (assuming you are depended on it). I am rooting for the guy, we need him but it is a legit concern his drinking. |

Ok, I will add to the list things we are not allowed to talk about in public.: Uncle Scott's drinking. I still need to talk about the time Buster touched me but no one wants to listen .=( |

SS, you are right. We shouldn't go there. We don't know.

Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
Listening to the presser now.
"the head coach hires his own coaches." "communication is the key" I hate that they are dragging me back in ... some how, some way, we WILL f*** this up. |
Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
That was about the most difficult introductory press conference I can remember. Press was rough on him, and should have been; the organization has earned every bit of it. Talk about straight to the point no BS questions though. I thought he did very well. He was more calm than BA for sure. We should forgive some nerves after 30 mins of getting grilled on everything that has failed in this franchise for the past 16 years.
welcome to Washington Scott. |

After seeing the Allen presser he had good reason to be nervous. He's not getting paid to be a public speaker so who cares.
Bobby Beathard is one of my heroes. His endorsement lends a tremendous amount of
credibility to the McCloughan hire in my mind. Now, if Scot could just go out and duplicate Beathard's 1981 draft. 1. Mark May 3. Russ Grimm 5. Dexter Manley 6. Larry Kubin 8. Charlie Brown 9. Darryl Grant 12. Clint Didier UDFA. Joe Jacoby
Too high a bar. This may be the best single draft slate ever. I'm biased but '81 was insane. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
Interesting to hear Keim say from the presser (which I missed) that McC sounded like he would like to give RG3 more time to develop.
Wonder how that sounds to Jay? McC worked with Jon in the past, its going to be interesting to see if both these guys can get on the same page. If this is true about RG3, then Jay could be set to leave after next year. |

He'll make him earn it but Jay has never said, nor has it ever been reported, that if Robert stays then he's out. And McC's comments do not say that Robert is our QB of the future, it just says he needs to learn more. Talk about jumping to conclusions. |

So the opinion that RG3 is traded before next year, well, that may not happen. Just thought it was interesting. |

I am sure this is a captain obvious statement, but this guy has been studying the top 150 college prospects all year long. I expect we will have a very very good draft!
