Bobby Beathard loves the Gruden hire:

But it is who I wanted you to say, and that is just as important. But seriously, are you going to say Haslett? |
Haslett...{sigh}. Hopefully we move back to a 4-3 then.
I'm hearing reports that Raheem was promoted and Haslett will move to an assistant position. Also I'm hearing reports that shanny mandated a 3-4 and that Haslett would rather run the 4-3 |
Take this for what's its worth but Chris Russell said he thinks it's going to be Bobby April special teams coach from the Raiders.
That wouldn't be such a bad thing. One thing the Raiders can do is play special teams |
Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
So are we going to be the Hard Knocks team this year?
I think it would be fascinating. |
Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
Big name? Check.
Head Coach that ran the offense that San Diego just shut down last weekend at Cincy? On a team that made it to the playoffs on defense? Check. Keeping the Defensive Coordinator of what has been a "bottom 10" defense the last 2 seasons? Check. What, me worry?
I'm optimistic about this. You see every year he's been there Marv hasn't had a losing season. We need Consistency in washington, you can't get to the show if you can't even show up at the dance to get there. Gruden's QB's don't get seriously injured either oh and HE tells it like it is. See Hard Knocks rant. |

Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
Gruden and Griffin are going to get along really well. Both are brutally honest, but also very positive personalities.
I'm not quite as convinced that he's the best person to develop him as a passer, but McVay and the QB coach hire will have a hand in that too. |

Dalton has improved every year under Gruden. If Griffin threw 30+ td's like Dalton did, the fans would wet their pants. I think he's the perfect guy to develop Griffin. The real question is can Griffin develop? |
Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
Same old crap, Gruden was already pencilled in as head coach before the season ended and the interviews were purely for show.
Hate it.
Or the interviews were in case plan A didn't come together. Nothing was a guarantee. |

Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
This is a coaching hire that I am actually excited for. I think Gruden will have success as a Redskins coach. A lot more success than I thought Shanahan or Zorn would have. He has tied his fate to RG3 and it seems he does not care about outside influences/rumors. I am also relieved they didn't try to reestablish the past by hiring another Shanahan like Cowher or Jay's brother.
I finally see the franchise heading in the right direction. Next year may be a struggle but I think he will be successful and RG3 will start to show he is the best QB out of a very good class. |

Solid move IMO. |

I think Gruden managed Dalton as well in 2013 as he did in 2011. |

I agree. It is too early to tell. But I'm more excited for this move than previous ones. |
Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
Was anyone else worried about a Maroon and Black moment at the press conference? I sat on pins and needles praying Gruden would NOT make some stupid faux pas.

Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
Hard Knocks would be a good way to vanquish some of the perceptions of the team in the national media. Giving everyone a look into our teams chemistry.
I am mixed on the hire, but I am happy with the tone of the team concept. Everyone working together, harmony, balance, and so on. As long as we fix the d and RG III we will win. That is the only thing that will fix this mess. |

That hurt us in every single game we played. |

Pretty sure we are dealing with good ol boy syndrome and we are all screwed,,,,just sayin.

I was worried we wouldn't have any worthy candidates to succeed the previous regime, turns out we had more than I thought. You know what I mean Matty, JoeRedskin?

Right on cue Already dealt with |
Yes, but we did not obtain the entire Bengals coaching staff, just the part that wasn't better than what we already had. And then retained the worse part of ours.
I think that Cincys offense was better than ours. Not by leaps and bounds...but better. I think with a healthy RG-3 and some much needed help on the oline that this offense can absolutely soar under Gruden. Is their enough capspace and do we hit or miss in the draft to help the D. That is the question. |
Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
Can't wait for Pre-season to see what we look like. HTTR.
Russ Grimm? lol
No seriously, Richie Petitbon?
crow eaten :spank: No Russ Grimm- oh well I hope Raheem Morris runs is the DC. I also want Hasslet and Morris to bring their heads together and come up with a unique defense. Maybe a combination of the Steelers 3-4 and the Tampa 2. Like Pete Carroll did with the 4-3 LEO. |
Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
Yeah after today I will say I love his attitude

There are always some bright up and comers ready to shine in the spotlight. It's a testament to the US education system really. Nothing but the best. |
