crazy play, too bad it didn't count
NFL Videos: The punt return that never was
I didn't understand the holding penalty on the play there. The guy they called it on wasn't even near anybody. My first instinct was that the officials just threw a flag and made up a penalty because they were as confused as everybody else was, but that sounds too asinine so I'll just assume they called it on the wrong person, or when it happened it wasn't on camera. |
Re: Around the NFL week 3
Clinton Portis is close to signing with the Bengals since Cedric Benson will be suspended 3 games soon.

apparently the hold came at the beginning of the punt, which is offscreen in most of the shots. |
Re: Around the NFL week 3
Justin Tryon got cut.. That's the pick we used to draft Markus White.
Oh..Bob Sanders was placed on IR/cut by the Bolts. His career might be done. |
Re: Around the NFL week 3
Wow, I've heard of losing w/o dignity and making excuses for poor play, but the Cowboys bring a whole new meaning...... winning w/o dignity.
Cowboys, Skins differ over root of wayward snaps - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN
The Cowboys have accused the Redskins of causing Costa's itchy trigger finger by mimicking Romo's cadence, essentially tricking the new center into thinking the quarterback was calling for the ball before he actually was. The culprit was thought to be Washington defensive end Stephen Bowen, who spent the last five seasons in Dallas.

The Redskins, meanwhile, accuse the Cowboys of making up the whole thing. Washington coach Mike Shanahan says there's proof. ''The center is miked, and when the center is miked, you go back in audio and you'll find out if one of our players did say a snap count,'' Shanahan said. ''And they did not.''

Bowen said he knew during the game that the Cowboys were making the allegations because, ''the ref came to us and said, `Are (you) giving fake snap counts?''' ''I looked at (nose tackle) Barry (Cofield), like: 'Did you make a noise?''' Bowen said. ''He was like, 'I didn't make a noise. I didn't even hear anything.'''

''I lost a lot of respect for Costa,'' Bowen said. ''Just be a man and tell the truth. If that was the case, if we were making snap counts, how come no other offensive linemen jumped offsides? It makes no sense because he's lying. He just needs to be a man and stand by his word. Everybody respects a man who could tell the truth.''
I have to agree with Bowen, only the Center screwed up on each play, and if I'm not mistaken didn't Costa's mess up the week before on a couple of snaps or was it the 1st game of the season? |

3 games is probably about all CP's good for these days, I'm afraid. |

I didn't know CP was close to signing. I just thought he and Larry Johnson went to work out for the Bengals

Leslie and McNabb were going to shag like no other couple ever has done this season. It seems like someone's forgot their mojo. Who cares about McNabb anymore

Seriously? Not trying to rip on you but this is the AROUND THE NFL thread, where we can discuss opposing teams and opposing players, which includes former Redskins. If you don't want to talk about McNabb, don't. Nobody's forcing you to. Speaking of McNabb, where we have we heard this before?
Several throws have been uncatchable, either one-hoppers that landed well short of receivers or air balls that sailed over the heads of his targets.
Was that ever a problem in the past? :D |
Re: Around the NFL week 3
i never noticed just how bad his footwork is on some throws and the correlation to his tendency to throw wormburners until he got here. i still think he was a heck of a QB but am amazed how he was able to not correct or be forced to correct something like that for so long in the NFL. its just mindblowing that he seems to absolutely refuse to hear any criticism or input on changing his footwork.

I know. He was here one year. It's not like we're attached to the guy. His days of being a starter are numbered. |
Re: Around the NFL week 3
How about the Redskins of the west???? Raiders are playing some good ball.

I'd say that they're right on par with the always slow-starting and somewhat overrated Chargers right now, and very capable of surpassing them if they can stop with the penalties. Run Dmac might just be the best back in the league. He's got everything. He can catch and pass protect like a monster too, things that AD wasn't quite that good at. |

I think the funniest part is he refused to work on his footwork here, refused to wear a wrist band, gets traded, ..... and ends up having to work on his footwork and is supposedly wearing a wrist band. What about his soooo important image? |

On another note.... I'm still waiting to see AH dominate like he promised.

We are not feeling so bad about it. Everyone of us knows what could have happened had football minded AH landed on the Giants playing 4-3 D. We are glad he's out of the division for good. So we thank the Giants for staying cheap. |
