Edit - I think it’s fair to question whether trumps words are just words or whether it is effecting policy as well.

True story. The [URL="https://www.history.com/news/why-was-it-called-the-spanish-flu"]first known case[/URL] of the Spanish flu came from a military base in Kansas, and media in Spain was the first to report on it because the majority of the focus in the worldwide media was on WW1 at the time (Spain wasn't involved). America got really lucky on that one.
