i dont think anyone is saying he didnt have some alright plays. alright plays meaning he held his ground or didnt get pushed back to far on running plays. he certainly didnt have any great plays.

my original comment was that haynesworth got tossed by gurode a few times. its football, it happens. pocket straight thinks he didnt. no big deal, not the first time 2 fans watch the same game and have different impressions of what happened.

pocket straight (im guessing) thinks haynesworth had a good game for the opportunities he had. i just made the comment that haynesworth got tossed atlest twice, they showed replays of 'em and collinsworth made repeated comments on it. pocket straight disagrees that he got "tossed around". no biggie.

i didnt even talk about how haynesworth would try and shoot a gap from the NT position, thereby opening big running lanes for the boys runningbacks which is more subjective and open to interpretation (i dont exactly know what the NT duties are in haslett's scheme but eating up blockers is generally consider priority no 1 for NT).

i thought my comment that "haynesworth got tossed on atleast 2 plays" was an innocent fact and not meant to take a stab at haynesworth. i am sooooo tired of talking about haynesworth.

like skisn69 said, haynesworth is just another body right now. no better than a kedric golston or joey salave. of course, those guys would actually stick to their responsibilities and eat up blockers if playing the NT and not try and penetrate like a pass rushing end but whatevaaa . . .

It seemed to me that pocket has been trying to point out that this defense can't be successful without AH and that it's the coaches' fault if AH is whiny b**** who doesn't play hard.

Occasionally, AH made plays. Occasionally, he seemingly got pushed around or took himself out of the play. Never did it appear - to me anyway - that he was dominating in the way one would expect for a player of his talent. Rather, he did enough to get along which, b/c of his talent, is better than most.

W/ or w/out him, the defense will be okay. It's got its issues but a half-assed AH ain't gonna solve them and, unless the coaches toss their "team first" bottom line aside for a "oh pretty please Albert, we would like you to play hard and we will design a defense just for you and do whatever it takes to get you your stats" mentality, AH's attitude ain't gonna change. I think last night proved that.

It isn't that they will be unsuccessful, I think they could be more successful with him playing. In my opinion Albert is an unusual talent. He is a guy, when used properly, who has DPOY ability. I don't think that anyone else on the defense has that kind of talent and it bothers me to have someone like that on the team who has isn't being used. Our coaches are being paid a lot of money and sometimes you have to deal with some bad when someone is that good. Jimmy Johnson never had an issue. Hell, Marvin Lewis accomplished a lot with a bunch of characters last year.

I don't want 8-8, I want at least 9-7 or 10-6 with a possible division win and some type of playoff run. The Jets showed that a dominant defense can get a team with offensive issues close to the promised land. Getting to the playoffs is one thing but to succeed you need talent and the ability to create mismatches. IMO Albert is the only guy on the line that can consistently create a mismatch.

Not really, they'll probably just run draws to his side all day until he grows up mentally.
He's probably better off playing for Son of Bum or anyone else in the Bum Phillip's coordinator tree because they let their NT penetrate... We are the Super-Lite version of Pittsburgh.

Albert played on only 16 plays, even if he was successful in 8 of those plays that is still unacceptable. He can do better, he should do better and pacing on the sideline didn't seem to help his game.

Re: Game Goats

I think Haynesworth is simply not cut out for what we need him to do. The scheme is somewhat irrelevant. For the money he was signed for and the opportunity for this team to contend, I think a trade is best for both sides. I won't say that he's dumb, stubborn and resistant to change. He's needs to be able to freelance to dominate. How many coaches want that in a player? You sacrifice some things when let a player do what he does best. It's risk-reward. Right now, the scheme is pourous for lack of talent and expertise but, other guys are compensating. That's not good for the long term.

He isn't the only one though and other guys are sticking out even more. Carter is a fish out of water as he was as invisible as Galloway on offense. Fletcher and McIntosh seem out of place too.

Orakpo (maybe Alexander) is pretty much the only guy who seems like he fits the 3-4 in our front 7.

Have you actually watched this guy since he's been here? Have you actually listened to what other players say about the guy? He's not as good as you think he is and the proof is in his play. And Jimmy Johnson had characters but they would've never gotten away with coming to camp out of shape and loafing. JJ is no non sense when it came to that.

I haven't seen one of his games. He plays here?

Aren't you one of the people who said Landry should go?

Re: Game Goats

So, after one game in teh new system, everyone who criticized Landry is wrong about all personnel moves and you are right?

The Landry and AH scenarios are completely different. One wants to be here, one doesn't. One bought into the system, one wont. Guess which is which.

Well you could make the argument that it's the opposite. Landry used to play out of position, and this new scheme (along with him being back at SS) has helped him play better. AH clearly doesn't fit the 3-4, on top of all the drama that he's brought upon himself.

I still think that the team should've have thrown that 21 mil out the window and traded him. We'd be in a much better situation.
Was he really pouting though? I remember games last year when he gets in a type of "angry zone" when he plays. When he was pacing by himself, I saw it more as he is pumping himself up more than trying to send a message to the coaches. They played him after that, so I don't think he was causing problems. I wasn't on the sidelines so I don't know for sure.
He's known for that

didn't look like a pouting face to me

Well, given the amount of posts dedicated to Albert Ain'tworth in this thread, I guess it's safe to say he's a "Game Goat." ;)
