Re: Clayton: A 6th round pick for Ramsey
There is no question that Brees and Culpepper are vastly superior quarterbacks than Ramsey. But, they also want a sh-tload of money. Griese and Kitna may be more proven quarterbacks, but they're also (as you pointed out) old.
What I just can't understand is how A.J. Feeley gets Philly a 2nd round pick whereas Ramsey gets the Skins a 6th rounder. Yes I know the Dolphine overpaid. I also know that this year's free agent QB crop is good. But, the difference between a 2nd and a 6th is amazing. I am sure there is some reasonable justification for the difference in compensation, I just haven't heard it yet.
The Feeley trade was a horrible trade. I have no idea how they got a #2 for him. I would love the skins to get good value for Ramsey, it just doesn't seem likely from everything I have read. And yes I agree those other QB's are more expensive to aquire than Ramsey, but every team that chooses to go for one of them takes one team out of the Ramsey deal. My point was not to argue Ramsey vs every other QB, but just to point out that there seem to be more available QB's this year than the norm and that is going to hurt the skins chance to get good compensatiuon for Patrick. |
Re: Clayton: A 6th round pick for Ramsey
This is rediculous...If this is all we can get for Ramsey (a former first rounder), then its no point in trading him. I have the feeling that this league has not seen the last of Ramsey but I'm almost positive that the Skins have. Wherever he goes I hope we find a Tom Brady with that pick so they can look back and feel like idiots.

Agreed. Hopefully, Brees, Kitna, Griese, etc. will be taken off the market. I think Culpepper is officially off the market, but those other guys are, as you point out, hurting Ramsey's value. |
Re: Clayton: A 6th round pick for Ramsey
I have heard rumors that Schotty doesnt want to lose Brees. But most experts believe they will not be able to afford him. It's not a lock that Brees is going.
I think Kitna is the real value on the market this year. I hope everything works out with JC for us. Because in a perfect world where we were 20 million under the cap. He would be someone I would be interested in over Patrick. |
Re: Clayton: A 6th round pick for Ramsey
Isn't Carson Palmer going to be coming off of ACL surgery? I'd think the Bengals would do everything they could to keep Kitna. They'll need a solid backup

they said they were definately going to get a vet, which may or may not be kitna. |
Re: Clayton: A 6th round pick for Ramsey
I agree with you Tafkas. But normal teams dont pay the type of money we do for backups.

Re: Clayton: A 6th round pick for Ramsey
A good trade for Ramsey would be if the Jets and Skins swapped 2nd round picks and we threw in Ramsey. I think that is the most fair situation.

That is a very interesting idea. I would guess though that the Jets wouldn't accept it. It seems like that sort of deal would be worth a mid-3rd rounder; more than what the Jets would like to pay. |

I think if the top of the draft works so the Jets can get Bush than that scenario could easily play out. |

I know there has been a lot of talk about the Jets trading up. Maybe it will happen. But, the Jets have cap problems and there are tons of players available at #4 who would be great for them (i.e. Jay Cutler, D'Brickshaw Ferguson, Mario Williams, etc). They need multiple picks to fill multiple holes. Plus, there is a bevy of free agent, proven running backs who would cost a boatload less than the #1 pick ... even if his name is Reggie Bush. |
Re: Clayton: A 6th round pick for Ramsey
The article in the Post indicated the Redskins had hoped for a 3rd or 4th round pick for Ramsey so that should be a reality check for the 'Abraham straight up' or 2nd round or bust crowd.. Now it looks like he will be released outright to get under the cap.

Re: Clayton: A 6th round pick for Ramsey
if he's gone i would have at least taken a 5th or 6th instead of nothing.
