about winning the division or being 5-4 going into the bye? |
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
rgiii kept us in it, but the turnovers are the biggest thing. our secondary sucks, but if the skins didn't hand the ball over 3 times, well, you know... winning.

Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Apologies. Just seen a few posts/tweets that blame the FO for the safety position, and haven't seen any suggestions as to what they could have actually done better.
Apology accepted. I've been one of those all along more worried about our secondary than anything else. I don't know what the FO could have done differently ... kept Landry? Made a stonger play for B. Carr? The troll calling for signing B. Sanders ... please. I don't know how they could have fixed it ... but it needed to be fixed. They made an effort to do it on the cheap and gambled. With that said, it has been 3 years and we have gotten worse, not better in our defensive backfield over those 3 years. Is that Allen's fault? Shanahan's? Haslett's? To me, unless you can figure out why it's gone wrong, you can't really begin to fix it. |
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
And to be clear, I am NOT calling for Haslett's head. The more I watch, the more it seems like he is doing his best to make lemon ade out of a bunch of lemons.
Shanahan messed up the first two years that he has been here, but we are now in year #1 with a rookie QB. He isn't going anywhere after this season, maybe next year if we have a losing record.
The FO has made some early mistakes too with the trade for McNabb, but overall have made our team a lot younger and we don't over pay for FA's that's a big win in my book. I think if we didn't have the cap penalty we would have addressed more needs this offseason, but couldn't.
Thank u!!!!! People need to realize rg3 or not we should of been a rebuilf team year 1 ans this year is it thats not good. We will suck till we have a FO that can give us a very good D and give rg3 better weapons. |

Osi Umenyiora on RGIII: "That guy is flat-out unbelievable. Im not even going to lie. Thats the best quarterback weve played this year." Both of our safeties are out. Who exactly should they have brought in that would have done any better? I floated this before (not you) and still haven't received a answer to this.
The jets are starting two fa safeties and are at least doing adequate at the position. The jags and texans each brought in fa safeties a year ago and produced top defenses. You do have to find guys that fit the scheme, which is what we were hoping to do with Jackson, but when you load up on the meriweathers and Williams of the world, this is the result. Doughty is actually having a pretty good year, but Gomes has been a big disappointment. |

Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Manning and Cruz said that they saw the coverage pre-snap. That makes me mad because Haslett and Raheem has to know their players strenghts and weaknesses. The players have to know too.
Did people in this thread really expect playoffs this year? For the realistic fans, this team is really getting better. Best rookie QB since?
When is it reasonable to expect playoffs? This is year 3. Next year is year four and you have the built in excuses of 1) not having a first round pick, and 2) still having the cap penalty. So I guess no playoffs next year either. Bottom line, if this team can't get it done, there should be changes. Today doesn't have to be a huge setback, but the Redskins have a history of letting these become setbacks. |
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Pretty sure criticizing Shanahan and allen does not mean wanting Cerrato and Snyder running things. It just means Shanahan has proven he's as bad here as he was in Denver when he got fired for being a bad football coach. and Allen is just as bad a GM here as he was in Tampa bay.
I didnt realize that winning 2 SB's was the sign of a bad coach. I guess you learn something new every day. Tampa was also in bad shape when Allen arrived. They were like us with being old and overpriced. And no one there wanted to put in the work anymore since they had a shiny SB ring from a couple years earlier. They were not in the playoffs the year before he arrived. He dropped the dead weight, got them younger, cheaper, and back into the playoffs. Yeah sounds terrible... If you want to criticize them here, thats fine. But to make the comparisons that you do either means you arent paying attention or are letting hatred blind you. They took over a team that was bad and in cap trouble. I have criticized Shanny as well, mainly for thinking he could win now when he first showed up. But we are finally heading in the right direction, and we all know if Shanny is fired, that Snyder is taking back over. They are also operating with 19-20 mil less cap space than just about everyone else. About the cost of a good secondary. |
Cap penalty probably cost us Carr.
The year one cap differences between Carr and Garçon were negligible. Had to make a choice. |

You can't fix a decade of bad drafting in a couple seasons. |

Since there seems to be confusion as to whether it is Haz or the players ( we all know it is a combo of both) i wanted to ask two things. 1) does Haz's track record in the league have anything to do with your coclusion that he is making lemonade? 2) since we are ranked dead last in defense can we really call it lemonade, or is he making something far less refreshing than said lemonade with these lemons? The lack of secondary talent at this point falls squarely on Shanny's shoulders. The mere act of letting Landry go with no reasonable plan to replace him is irresponsible to me. It's one thing to let him go because you've got a younger cheaper healthier player who can approximate the production but we replaced him with a bunch of castoffs and journeymen. Baffling. |

Well. We wouldn't of lost against the Rams at least. :D |
Guys last year Wilson was actually solid so it didn't appear that we needed another Starting CB. Idk what has happened but he's really bad this year, not just him though the entire secondary

Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Madieu Williams needs to go. Period.

Well one thing the front seven is getting next to no pressure on quarterbacks which is making their jobs even harder. So now we could start blaming all those guys or consider that just possibly this might -just maybe- have a little something to do with - dare i say - .....cant stop myself ( fighting it ) .....Haslett? That was a rough one rite man? Hey listen we are 3-4 with five division games left. It is not time to abandoned ship yet. You called it a game today with 14 minutes left. Lol. You must have been surprised when Moss scored. I think you are going to be surprised where the Redskins stand in the division in about 4-5 weeks too. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Gomes getting blasted on the opening kickoff was a indication that the DBs on this team don't see, or know what's going on. [Gasp] Willialliams got burned for a TD just like Gomes did earlier this year.

We aren't. But neither are we sucking it up. We are 3-4 and were in the position to lose this game on a big play b/c, unlike we have done all year long, we turned the ball over. I also believe we are improved from last year and in position to keep improving - and not just b/c of RGIII. |
While we're at it, lets pretend we are doing awesome.
Usually i would love this comment cus you know im a critical one but based on how we played the giants today i suddenly feel we have a serious chance to win this division despite any feelings i harbor inside for the FO or coaches. Rg-3 is just awesome. We need to go into the bye 5-4 and get healthy than come out and see how the division games shake out. Boys gints and birds have brutal schedules. I have been watching your posts. It's called grammar check it out. You are so doom and gloom when we lose. The trade thread wanting to pick up different offensive players.... Hmm we are pretty damn good on O. If this team didn't turn the ball over three times on our side of the field I highly doubt we lose. I guess that was the secondary's fault too. Stick with the plan guys. Let this group run the course of their contracts and see where we stand. This team is getting better and better. And btw the way we are super young. We will win soon if not this year. |
