Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
Talk is cheap. We're going to win or lose based on talent and coaching, not what some blow-hard says on the radio.
|
Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
Why the backlash from the media, fans, and even punishhment from the league and team when someone makes disparaging remarks. Or accusing someone of wrongdoing without real proof.

Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
He's not just a blowhard. He has a national media prescence and even ties to respected people working in and around the nfl

And his opinion is as worthless as anyone else's. What he says or thinks isn't going to have any impact on our W/L record. |
Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
That's why I listen to and watch his shows- the other people that he gets on there. I try to ignore his opinion

Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
If opinions don't matter- how do you measure success? I measure it by meeting or exceeding expectations. Which are really what people THINK you are going to do. And external expectations impact you in a similiar way as internal, maybe more.

Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
In football, I think you measure success by the win/loss record. If the team goes 10-6 or 11-5 and wins the east, that's a success-- regardless of preseason prognosticators, if the go 5-11 or 6-10, that is a failure -- again regardless of preseason prognosticators.
It frustrates me that others see this team as a bottom tier team, when I don't feel that way, but I certainly understand why they do, and in the end don't really care much either way. I just want the Skins to win. |
Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
Success in the NFL is based on wins and losses... period.

Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
I'll remember that when we are discussing how a player does in a game or season. Well not WE persay but when you're discussing the performance of a player.... Exclamation point
Lol |
Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
You lost me.

Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
Maybe I am, but given his national presence he has influence over a lot of people. I hate hype, but I think perception affects the performance of the team. That's why I think that grossmans declaration of winning NFC east was a good move because it got other people to think the opposite of cowherd's opinion. You cant deny that what grossman said had an affect (especially before the steelers game) because they put it on sportscenter and they were saying he was an idiot. It was a brilliant move that not only benefitted him but instilled some confidence in the team.
You're given Cowherd waaaay too much credit. What sort of influence do you think he has exactly? If he says he thinks we're going to 2-14 or 14-2, it makes no difference |
Re: Yet another reason why Cris Carter is a moron
When YOU are discussing how successful a player does I will refer back to your wins = success opinion.

At the end of the day it's about wins and losses when talking about a team. You should know this |

Football, out of all the sports, is not as simple as this. That's what makes football so great. Think NFL Films |
