ESPN reporting that Casserly will resign today. They are stating that this is the last straw with MGMT as he passed on BUSH in the draft. Scapegoat by mgmt? Did they not have a unified draft attack plan in place WELL before the draft? Crazy!!!!!!!!

Everyone is going to shit their pants when Bush doesn't rush for the 2500 yards, receive for 1000 and return for 10 TDs like he was SUPPOSED to.

Re: And the idiot of the year award goes to............

I wonder when that happens, if Casserly will suddenly be a Super Genius (albeit unemployed)??????

Yes. Mario Williams will have much more of an impact on the Texans than Bush would have. I WILL say this, if the Jets would have gotten Bush, he would have made a big impact on THAT team.

Unfortunately for Bush, The FIGHTIN' Saints scooped him up!
Don't you know dude is lookin' for tall buildings to bail off! The hero worship he is experiencing at this time will turn to something else when he realizes he has to block for himself as well

The TX made the right choice. To win their div. you have to beat the Colts and to beat the colts you have to stop Peyton and that high scoring O. If they picked Bush he was not going to score 2 to 3 TDs a game which they would need to keep up with the colts. You first have to stop them before you can out score them.

I think Mario Williams is really going to be a force for the Texans.

Williams was the better choice for the Texans. They have a great RB already, who they just signed to an expensive contract.

Who knows, Bush COULD be the next Ki Jana Carter. Williams plays at a "safer" position that's not as likely to be a bust.

Also, Bush seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and his little problems could become bigger.

Personally, I thought Houston would've been best served trading the pick for an offensive lineman and some lower picks to pick MORE offensive linemen. That's their biggest need, David Carr won't live much longer if they don't start protecting him, and he does have a good arm when he's not lying on his back.

Besides, the idiot of the year will be Jerry Jones for pairing Owens and Parcells up. Jones and Parcells in the same organization are a bad enough combination, but then he gets the worst ego in sports and a kicker with loose lips too.

I'm glad he's an idiot. It will be fun to watch the Cowboys melt down this year.

QB, DE, and WR are the least safe positions to draft. RB is actually one of the safest position (OG/OC/S/TE are even safer though because of how impossibly hard it is for a prospect at those positions to get #1 status).

I'm not sure sure about that when you're talking about the top picks. Looking over historical lists of draft busts, there are a ton of QBs of course, but a lot of RBs who couldn't live up to their hype. I see hardly any DEs, so unless it's rare to draft a DE near the top of the draft, it seems they're "safer".

Re: And the idiot of the year award goes to............

a lot more rbs are taken... i just remember how well courtney brown worked out :P

top 5 DE picks since 98:
98 (3) andre wadsworth (who? 3 sacks in 2 years)
00 (1) courtney brown (bust)
01 (4) justin smith (decent, but lots of #10-18 DEs are better)
02 (2) julius peppers (amazing)

so 50% are busts and another 25% aren't the superstars you'd hope to get. how is that safe?

top 5 RB picks since 98:
98 (5) Curtis Enis (who? total bust)
99 (4) Edgerrin James (amazing)
99 (5) Ricky Williams (amazing, though kooked out)
00 (5) Jamal Lewis (good/great, 2k yard season on a terrible offense)
01 (5) LaDainian Tomlinson (looking like a HoFer)
05 (2) Ronnie Brown (decent, too early)
05 (4) Cedric Benson (decent, too early)
05 (5) Carnell Williams (great)

so, 62.5% are great, 25% look promising, but its too early to be sure, and 12.5% are total busts. please explain how a top 5 DE a safer pick. Ki-Jana was 11 years ago, his failure alone doesn't mean running backs aren't a much safer pick. Just looking at the names above should prove that.

at least for me, 50% >>>>>> 12.5%
