Pretty much in line with the process and calendar they announced times and times again. Sorry but people thinking WFT has a legit chance at sticking around haven't been paying attention.

Can you imagine for one sec how pathetic and unprofessional they would look if it took them 2 years and trillions of fans (+almuni, sponsors etc...) input, to say, "hey you know what ? We didn't need all that amazing, thorough and absolutely indispensable process we talked about so much, the temporary name we had found in 2 weeks works just fine" ?

(If you like WFT, that's fine, it's a subjective thing, just saying from a process and coherence standpoint it doesn't stand a chance).

I had to laugh when LeBron James made a tweet making fun of WFT for the name and someone reminded him his son’s name is LeBron James Jr. 🤣🤦*♂️🙄

When corporate branding, marketers attempt to find names/design/fonts that evoke emotion to transmit their company image

Ex: Playful, Competitive, Professional, Serious

I think #WashingtonFootball is aiming for "forward thinking" and "inclusive" as themes moving forward

"The team is staying far away from any Native imagery or branding, Warriors, Redwolves , etc are too close for comfort"

Has there ever been any Wolf sighting in the DC area? LOL I just think they will go with something for the history of the city / team. But I agree, at this point I don't care and to go 2 full years as WFT just to change everything again is also stupid

Its about much more than just picking a name and from what the Sports Junkies (a local DC sports talk show) were saying the tricky thing isn't the name, its the trademark for that name. A big problem with something like WFT is that its too generic to be trademarked (like trademarking yellow lemon) but it also sounds like there are ways to tighten up the trademark application. I would not rule out them using the name WFT or WFC. What I would rule out is anything with the word "red" in it.

If you look at the dictionary definition there's nothing that directly ties it specifically to Native Americans but whatever, people have become so fucking over sensitive that using the term [URL="https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/nba-teams-reportedly-considering-moving-away-from-the-term-owner-after-draymond-greens-comments/"]owner[/URL] may be on it's way out. FFS.

I agree about the Warriors definition but according to what the announcement said its also about context and they feel Warriors in the context of a new name for the Redskins has too much connotation to Native American imagery.
