Now? Wouldn't he want some level of guaranteed money? It would be a waste if he proved to be a wash. Maybe closer to the season if there are no better options.
I actually think you could do a one year incentive deal. 4 million that could potentially pay 6, 6.5 mil. Nothing more than that. He’s a rotational piece with Wise, Armstrong. I’d very much wouldn’t mind it over other options I just peaked at his pff grade to make sure he didn’t fall off…not that it’s the bible…but he was solid run and rush. |

I agree, I dont care if they pay him 10m a year to get him, he is likely far better than anyone we have, and he is not to terrible against the rush. In my eyes, he is better than fowler, just older. Fowler sucked against the run, a pur pass rush specialist. Clowney can do both so he could arguably win a starting end role or at least backup. I worry about his knees though. If I were GM, (thank god I am not) Id sign him to a 7.5 M a year two year deal with 3M signon to get him, if someone better comes along, Id sign them too and potentially trade him. We desperately need a vet pass rusher at this point, the likelihood there will be another who rates better than all we have is 50/50 I would guess GET HIM, we have the cap |
Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
Cincy still not working with Hendrickson. You would thin he'd want out or be traded at this point:
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45113049/trey-hendrickson-says-bengals-cut-contract-talks I don't see how making a call to them could hurt. Dude is a fantastic pass rusher. |

What would you think would be an acceptable trade (from the Washington perspective) Keep in mind next year we currently have a 1st(likely 19-32), 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th? Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
Agree, and if AP isn't all over the situation in Cincy like a rash I'd be surprised. It's also why I think there's no talk of approaching Clowney. Aside from teh fact he'd have to be a locker room fit for AP and DQ to consider him, it wouldn't make sense to make a move for him now, then do a deal with Cincy. For me, it's take care of your #1 target scenario 1st then fall back on #2. Clowney has been available for 5 days now and nobody looks like signing him. There's at least 1 reason for that and in many teams cases, multiple reasons. Nobody is in a rush and we shouldn't be either.

Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
I would give up 3rd round pick for him.
|
Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
At 30yo I tend to agree a 3rd, possibly a low 2nd is reasonable. Especially given his contract demands with Cincy then become our demands.

Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk
I should have been clearer. I'm suggesting a low 2nd in value. In reality, if we don't plan to trade down (or up?) into rd 2 next year, the trade for him would include a pick swap, like our 1st for him and their 2nd and 3rd maybe? |
Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
Payne and a 4th rounder for Hendrickson.
|
Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
More tension with Cincy and Hendrickson and even head coach:
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/trey-hendrickson-says-it-has-become-personal-with-zac-taylor-after-disappointing-text-exchange Article says he won't play for them this year under present contract. |
Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
Would any of you trade for D Watson in a cap dump trade if the pick was a 1st rounder? (Figure it would have to be at least a 1st given how big the cap hit would be).

And create a bigger hole in our run defense? No thanks. |

One downside would be it could complicate extending McLaurin. |

Still want to know if Peters is going to do anything about edge or more defense. Starting to doubt it at least for now. At least rush defense should be better. Really need Kinlaw to work out and reach his high potential.

Looking at some of the OTA clips and one thing that stood out, Debo looks like a fullback. LOL.

He's on one of the most powerful players I've seen at wr which is a huge reason his yac is so good. He's also got great vision and good speed. Always loved his game and stoked we got him. He should be especially motivated in a contract year.

Idk, he's looks way too chubby to me. He doesn't look like he will run away from any NFL corners. They're going to have to call 10 wr screens a game to get him the ball. |
Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
It is June 1 and we are going off a single picture here. AP knows the guy from SF and I trust he’s not giving us Haynesworth II. (Who will forget the flop? I know I’ve tried and failed to do so.)

His leg drive is unreal good and has very good lateral movement for his size. He's never been in the same sentence as skinny. Just his build and creates power and ultimately bigtime yac.
I trust he’s not giving us Haynesworth II.
A name I haven't heard in awhile and will never forget. He was lazy and had a terrible attitude. A true Snyder special giving him a 100 million dollar contract. Shanahan worked the crap outta this guy in camp and he ended up pretty mediocre here while complaining about the defensive formation was the culprit. Maybe the most asinine Snyder signing ever. Anyone feel free to chime in on a potentially worse one lol.

Sooo many to choose from. Haskins in the first round was pretty bad too. Archuletta getting the best safety contract ever at the time. Trent Williams debacle. I mean, that’s just giving it about 15 seconds of thought. We could be here weeks on this thread. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Also when he fired Schottenheimer to hire Spurrier was pretty entertaining too. I actually liked Marty. So glad we don't have to worry about Snyder anymore. Love what Harris has done. |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
While Fat Al was a huge waste of money for Snyder (boohoo), Haskins has to be the biggest mistake. It was a wasted high 1st and lost the team 2 years while trying to fit that square peg into a round hole, not to mention it may well have damaged him mentally (and we know what that cost him). All because they couldn't keep Snyder out of the process, despite years of seeing him f' it all up. |
Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
Learned something new today, it is possible to score 1 pt in a game. It can happen on the extra point try. If the team lets say the Redskins gets a TD and turns the ball over to lets say the Eagles on the extra point try, and the Eagles ball carrier in turns runs the ball all the way back but turns the ball back over to the Redskins before reaching goal line and Redskin retreats into the endzone and gets tackled the Eagles would get 1 point.

Never have, just read an article that discussed a "conversion safety". Never happened in the NFL but apparently has in college last one being in 2013, I believe. |

So loaded at wr. A new name could be in the mix, Chris Moore. Former 4th rounder who looking good in otas. Will be tough to make the team but he was singled out below.

Quinn came out and said Coleman has been officially moved to Left Guard. I love it.
I like Nick A but there was a lot of pressure in that gap between him and Badazz down the stretch. Coleman and King Tunsil will be a lot more athletic to get out on screens and next level Let’s fucking go |

I'm a little worried about the right -- Conley is a rookie, and until Cosmi is back, we'll have a rook and a second stringer there. But overall should be quite improved, and JD5 with a little more time should scare opposing defenses. |

Cosmi won't be in full shape by the time he comes back, we might need to wait until next year to see the full potential from this new Oline. |
