Just imagine what kirk will do when we have a successful running attack. This yr we were basically one dimensional the last 10 or so weeks and he carried the offense
Honestly cousins didn't really cement himself as a long term plan until the last few weeks. I'm big kc fan but I have this nagging feeling that the past 5 games or so were peak times for us. All weapons healthy, everyone in perfect sync, offensive play calling new looks, defense getting timely turnovers, weak opponents etc.

What happens when a smart coached defense jams shit up and causes cousins to go "off schedule". Dallas in the mnf just rushed and stunted the pass rush and it felt like the coaches were coming off a bye w time to scheme.
The offense will peak after McLovin and Gruden have an offseason to fix the running game. Our offense will devour defenses if we can be in 2nd and 5 or 2nd and 6 all day long.

franchise tag... it's a thing.

and i imagine kirk would want to stay here, since it's a known fit and no one's going to be challenging him.

What he did yesterday against Dallas is just so Kirk. They shut him down a few weeks ago so he went out knowing he was playing limited time and kicked their ass as quickly as he could! HTTR

No doubt kirk wins the most improved player award and honestly it sounds a bit crazy but u could honestly put him in the mvp race, he led the league in completion percentage and has the highest 4th qtr QB rating. Not to mention his overall numbers. Without him we would have been a 4 win team

Re: Cousins has arrived

From ESPN:

Moneymaker of the Year

Winner: Kirk Cousins, Washington. For the player who raised his stock more than anybody else in football this season. Cousins came into the year as a quarterback prone to fits of giveaways that eroded virtually all of his value as a passer. After adjusting for era, Cousins threw interceptions more frequently than anybody else in NFL history heading into this season.

And then, somehow, after posting four two-interception games during the first six weeks of the year, Cousins simply stopped throwing picks. Ever since launching Washington's comeback win over Tampa Bay in the now-famous "You like that!?" game, Cousins has been a different quarterback altogether. Split his career across that game and you can see the staggering change:

Before And After "You Like That!?"
SPLITCMPATTCMP%YDSY/ATTTDINTPASS RTQBR
Before YLT39163561.6%4,4507.0242777.545.6
After YLT22831572.4%2,7468.7233119.179.8
Before the season, if Cousins had played at his previous level, he would have been in line to receive money commensurate with the Brian Hoyers of the world, something in the $5-6 million per year range on a two-year deal with the first year guaranteed. Let's say $6.5 million guaranteed. That's not bad whatsoever, but it's a relatively low ceiling, and Cousins' path to playing time likely would have been for a franchise like Cleveland.

Now? Given how well Cousins has played over the past two months, it's almost impossible to imagine Washington letting him go, given how limited their options are at quarterback elsewhere. That leaves Cousins with enormous amounts of leverage, which should allow him to extract a very meaningful deal. It wouldn't be out of the question for Washington to cut Robert Griffin III and use the $16.1 million cap hold assigned to RG III to franchise Cousins, which would guarantee Cousins something in the $19 million range for one year.

If Washington somehow let him test free agency, Cousins could very well be the best free-agent quarterback option available since Drew Brees in a market full of potential suitors. Let's just pick a team as an example. The Browns could get to $31 million in cap space with a few obvious moves. We don't know what their GM will do, but could Cleveland really resist offering Cousins $50 million guaranteed as part of a deal resembling the Jay Cutler contract? And if Washington knows that the Browns are that desperate, can they make Cousins a similarly-impressive offer to stay in town? It's possible that the league might decide to collectively pass and make Cousins prove that he can do this again, but it's more plausible that he settles for -- at minimum -- the franchise tag. That's an awful nice raise for a guy who was third on the depth chart this time last year.

Remember that last year? I think Jay did that knowing he could reshape Kurt. He just needed to prove to everyone that RGIII was not worth the time and give Kurt time to heal. Alot of Kurt success has to go to Jay who put his neck out for him.

That was a ballz move but it paid off. Great job Jay.

While it compliments Kirk Cousins, this is one dumb-ass article.

1. "Given how well Cousins has played over the past two months, it's almost impossible to imagine Washington letting him go."

No shit, Sherlock!

2. "It wouldn't be out of the question for Washington to cut Robert Griffin III and use the $16.1 million cap hold assigned to RG III to franchise Cousins, which would guarantee Cousins something in the $19 million range for one year."

Another revelation from Captain Obvious. Cutting Griffin to save $16.1 MM in cap space has been the plan since Cousins was named the starter. If they need to, the Skins will surely franchise Kirk.

3. "If Washington somehow let him test free agency, Cousins could very well be the best free-agent quarterback option available since Drew Brees in a market full of potential suitors."

Don't quit your day job at the think tank. There is no chance of the Redskins letting Cousins test Free Agency.

Just remember, KC was splitting reps with McCoy in camp with both going between 2nd and 3rd team. He went from that to having perhaps the best regular season of any Redskin QB.

106.7 last week was talking about who had a better season. KC 2015 or RG3 2012. Maybe that would be a cool thread as long as it doesn't get all crazy.

Lets wait ten years and have a "who had a better CAREER" thread instead. Less conjecture and crazy that way.

Really good comparison for this week. Showing both QB in the first year. After being in the league for 4 years, and dealing with the drama of the other QB. Rodgers had to deal with Farve.

Re: Cousins has arrived

looking back I am more impressed with Mike & Kyle Shanahan coaching up and putting RGIII in a game plan that fit RGIII skill set..even though it ended up getting RGIII injured. not taking anything away from Robert but he needs to be in a system totally fit for his style..unfortunately his style is going to get him injured often. Kudos to who ever had the insight to draft cousins in the 4th round. Mike Shanahan called it correct when he said Cousins was going to be very good starting qb. hopefully RGIII will get his career back on track and turn out to be special.

Well, 73% is probably his ceiling. I mean, can we really expect any improvement at this point? The real question is what is his potential floor.

.... I kid, I kid. Just wanted to see Punch's head explode. ;)

73% is an insane good number. So is his TD/INT ratio over the last 10 games.
23 TD/3 INT - an almost 8:1 ratio. That just doesn't happen. The top QB's generally have are ~3:1 ratio (in the 2.8 - 3.2 range). An 8:1 ratio is simply crazy. (For the season, Brady was at ~ 5:1, Rogers at ~ 4:1).

KC is really just putting up amazing numbers in the passing game.

That being said, D-Jax has all of 30 receptions this year. Now Jordan Reed....he might be a better choice of a running mate.
