Arizona/new mexico desert is my favorite. One time we got stopped by border patrol and they put us in their little cells while they searched our car and no joke they had a home depot plastic bucket as the "bathroom" for us. worst cell I ever spent some time in by far. |

Advertisement Ian came ashore Wednesday afternoon near Cayo Costa, Florida, with winds of 150 mph and began a punishing march northeastward across the state. As of the 8 a.m. advisory, Ian was moving northeast at 8 mph and winds had slowed to 65 mph. It was located 40 miles southeast of Orlando and 10 miles west of Cape Canaveral. "A turn toward the north-northeast is expected later today, followed by a turn toward the north and north-northwest with an increase in forward speed Friday and Friday night. On the forecast track, the center of Ian is expected to move off the east-central coast of Florida later today and then approach the coast of South Carolina on Friday. The center will move farther inland across the Carolinas Friday night and Saturday," the National Hurricane Center said. https://www.wesh.com/article/ian-tropical-storm-flooding/41437849# Glad it slowed down ... from a cat 4 to tropical storm is a big drop. (I think .. i dk) Hope for the best, hopefully utilities get back as soon as possible Always so cool to see all the utility people come together from all over the country to help |

Stay safe, battery power up everything and maybe get some puzzles or crosswords ... read a book. getting into the right book can make hours fly by. keep us posted |

I'm not too close to any shores. There are a bunch of marshes around. But I haven't been thru this before, so I'm not really sure with how the whole thing works. I think I will be OK from flooding. Moreso heavy rain and wind is what I'm expecting. Already getting some pretty good wind right now off and on. I think the power going out is likely my biggest concern. I got quite a few books I need to read. So I'm good on that front if it does go out. Glad I work from home. Going to go to the grocery store in about an hour, then I will be hunkered down for the next 48 hours. |

Go now man, hit up several stores, sometimes a home depot might be the place to get water/gatoraide. or a Dicks sporting goods. the non traditional stores. id fill a few buckets of water now so you can flush the toilet if water goes out. ---- but then again .. its a tropical storm now so you should be good. but .. general rule .. we freak out and over react to any storms around here |

In MtP you should be good from flooding and tropical storm is business as usual for the low country. There will be some flooding at street level. I am assuming you are west of 17? If so you should be fine. I'd definitely get some water asap though |

My directional skills are still severely lacking here. I would have to cross over the 17 from my apartment to get to Isle of Palms. |

Surprisingly, I do already own a big bucket too. |
Re: F...Snow
Tropical storm heading out into the Atlantic to pick up a little steam before returning to S.C. as a category 1 hurricane.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstories/ian-is-forecast-to-hit-south-carolina-after-regaining-hurricane-strength/ar-AA12oceM?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=0bccb6c3a9ac43a3b06d994c9b14cccf The grocery store was something else. Took longer to checkout than it did to shop. I remembered COVID, and didn't go insane, just got 1 case of water so other people can have some too. That store is going to be bone dry by like 5 p.m. Used the tropical storm/hurricane as an excuse to buy beef jerky lol. That stuff is so expensive. |

Re: F...Snow
SD -- give us an update buddy.
anyone else in the middle of it?
It landed a bit north of us. Still got pretty bad winds/rain all morning till around 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. Our power went out at like 1:30, so I took a nap, woke up at 3:00 p.m., and the power was back on and the storm had passed. It's still a little windy, but the brunt of it is all north now. Pretty crazy that it was only a Cat 1/Tropical Storm. Couldn't imagine what Florida went thru. |
