Re: Give Colt Brennan a shot with the 1st team offense in 2010
I agree all around.
Maybe if we come home from the draft without Bradford, the FO will get going on an extension for JC.
i think that, unless the team is already 100% convinced that Campbell can't get it done, he won't be traded until the draft. If Bradford is on the board, we'll draft him and unload Campbell. If he's not, then we'll keep Campbell, draft Okung at 4, another OT in the 2nd, Hardesty in the 4th, and see how the offense looks in 2010. If it clicks, Campbell will get a REAL extension during or after the season. All things considered, our offense should be dramatically better in 2010 (when compared to 2009) in the second scenario. even moreso if we can trade some guys and pick up some additional picks in rounds 3 and 4. this is a very very deep draft. |

I would consider this a good way to go. If we can get Okung and another OT or someone like Pouncey, who can play center or guard in the second, I think we've made a significant upgrade to our line and gained some youth. Fill in some more with a couple of FA acquisitions and JC has better protection this year. Hardesty would be an upgrade and would be a good fit for this offense. Sign a couple of quality "D" players in free agency and I would consider this about as successful an off-season as could be reasonably expected. |
Re: Give Colt Brennan a shot with the 1st team offense in 2010
^ Okung in the 1st
Pouncey in the 2nd T Kyle Calloway in the 4th We walk away from the draft with the best LT, the best C, and a capable RT We may need to trade into the third to get Hardesty anyway |

Using every draft pick on the oline would be as dumb as not using any draft picks on the oline.

I agree. The scenario above does not exhaust all of our draft picks. The scenario above also is just a scenario. Personally I might prefer to bring home Bradford from the first or Jahvid Best from the second. I also will wish for LB Pat Angerer if we don't sign Dansby. |
Using every draft pick on the oline would be as dumb as not using any draft picks on the oline.
holy crap! we only have three draft picks?!?!?! i know we traded the 3rd for jarmon and the 6th for taylor, butwhat happened to the other two?!
EDIT - oops, looks like Lotus beat me to it. |
Re: Give Colt Brennan a shot with the 1st team offense in 2010
^^ I'll bet we increase our number of picks through trades, too.

Your right, Dockery's fine. Maybe we should just use 1 pick for the other 4 positions of need on the o-line. He better be one hell of a player. |

we could always go the UDFA route, it's worked great for us in recent years! |

I like your take. With Hardesty running behind Okung and Pouncey, some damage can be done. Hardesty bummed me out by having a good combine because it may have driven his stock up. :) |

Hardesty bummed me out by having a good combine because it may have driven his stock up. :)
I think the only real chance we have is there are other RB's rated higher and maybe only a couple will be taken high. If the defensive players and o-linemen are gobbled up maybe players like Hardesty will still be there. If we could get more picks that would be great. But yeah, I'd love to see a young RB with talent running behind those guys. :) |
besides the fact that he's old, todd seems like a horrible fit for shannys offense. i gotta believe he's a gonner.
Why is Todd Collins a bad fit for Mike Shanahan's offense? |
