re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
They shouldn't touch this guy. Whether or not you think HGH and steroids are good or bad they're illegal in the NFL. And so are a lot of the things that are sold over the counter. Bringing Romo on board is just asking for trouble since he abused the system his entire career. They should just let him get his feet wet somewhere else.
Did anyone else hear the interview with Romanowski on The Herd about a year ago? He still thinks steroids/HGH are such a good thing that EVERYONE, not just athletes should use them! It wasnt too long after the "60 Minutes" thing, and Cowherd was obviously asking questions to give Romo a chance to say "steroids are bad, and I was wrong," but Romo gave just the opposite responses. It was so ridiculous, Cowherd had to just end the interview, very awkwardly.
Shanny is throwing his old buddy a bone with the job interview, that's all.
Well one could argue he's right. If you're an ADULT and know what you're doing then I really don't see a problem using if you're trying to improve self image/confidence. |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
I think that's the plan skinsfan
I wonder if the UFL would take him in Something that I wouldn't mind if it happened would be to cut him a check as a consultant in order for him to recommend somebody to us if we liked his presentation. He can come in and do a workshop or three, but not be permanent staff. |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Just what we need, an admitted roid-head as our strength coach.
|
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
I'd bring the guy in. They check all the players for roids as it is and if they've stayed clean thus far then why would they jump out there now. Romo for all of his bad decisions using PED's while playing is a nutrion and workout nut and I think that we got rid of our last guy for a reason. Give this guy a shot, or at least as an assistant Strength Coach or something. We say that guys need to be better in the gym why not find someone who knows it like it's their home.

re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Unconfirmed, but I believe we've hired our strength coach...Ray Wright.
Confirmed that we have our strength coach, not confirmed that it's Wright. I've heard Buddy Morris and Ken Harvey as well |

Confirmed that we have our strength coach, not confirmed that it's Wright. I've heard Buddy Morris and Ken Harvey as well
Now that's a former NFL LB I would be happy about hiring. |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
He's already part of the organization so it's possible he already works out with the guys. I guess you would know that better than me
|
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
I might have the wrong former linebacker. Some are saying Ken Harvey, some are saying Eddie Mason. People I trust more are saying Harvey, but that doesn't mean it's him

I had two friends on the strength/conditioning staff, but they were all let go last month by Shanahan/Allen. I never heard them mention Ken Harvey, but next time I talk to either of them I will ask. |

re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Ray Wright hired as strength and conditioning coach
Former front office official Ray Wright has rejoined the Redskins as their top strength and conditioning coach. After beginning his NFL career as a scouting intern with Washington in 1997, Wright was twice promoted by the team. He served as the college/pro scouting administrator in 1998 and became the director of player programs in 1999. Wright, who spent the last eight seasons with the Houston Texans, will lead Washington's new strength and conditioning staff, which is being assembled after the team parted ways with their entire staff last month. Wright also held a personnel assistant position with the Chicago Bears and worked as a strength and conditioning coach at Maryland and Cornell University. The Texans promoted Wright to their top position in 2009. Wright also spent seven seasons as Houston's assistant strength and conditioning coach. New offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan worked with Wright during his time on Houston's staff. "The position of strength and conditioning coach demands a combination of youth and experience, and Ray delivers on both of those," Coach Mike Shanahan said in a news release. "He has learned from some of the best in the business, and he has incorporated their teachings into his own philosophies. We expect him to bring out the most from our players, starting with their offseason conditioning and continuing through the entire season." |
