We have no idea what Marko Mitchell is like as a player, especially since Nevada is a run heavy WAC team. The guy has skills, but those skills may or may not include a deep game. |
Re: Where are Kelly & Thomas?
This is a question that doesn't need endless pages of debate to answer. Look around the league and you see a shit ton of ROOKIE WRs making really significant contributions to their football team. Minn, NY, Philly all have very young guys - like 1st or 2nd year - making big plays, and I'm sure there are ample more I just don't follow enough teams to point everyone out. Meanwhile the Skins employ a WR coach who HAS NEVER DEVELOPED A SINGLE PLAYER AT THE PROFESSIONAL LEVEL. I think he's been w/ us for over 5 years now. The thought should be simply mind-boggling. This is like a doctor who never diagnoses a single patient, a loan officer who never closes a single loan, a lawyer who never wins a single case. The only wide-outs who have any success w/ the Skins are guys who learned elsewhere. Hixon hasn't taught a single player in his group to run a crisp route, create separation from the defender, or position his body to block out the defender. Our young wide-outs look retarded out there but I'm saying it's not really something you can hold against them.

Hixon is pretty damn bad.

Good point. To be honest I can't remember the last time we developed a WR we drafted in a while. I think a lot of our position coaches are suspect. Add DB coach to that list also. |
Re: Where are Kelly & Thomas?
I'm sorry, but a combined 10 receptions for 82 yards for 3X 2nd round picks is unacceptable. Thomas has a whopping reception, big Fred 3 and Malcom 6. Time to go back to the drawing board like the defense did this week and get these guys more involved.

I would say do what Omar Epps did with Rashard Mendenhall....sit these f'ers down on the bench and let other people (Marko Mitchell, hello!) play. |

Yep, Marko should be given a chance. Thomas should be demoted to #5, it's sad that the skins can't exploit his talents. |
Re: Where are Kelly & Thomas?
Have to say it is most likely the FO and the dumbass dealing of our first rounders of recent past for underperfroming FA's. Thomas probably should have been passed over just because of where he went to school(Michigan St). Michigan St players usually don't make it in the pros. Last guy they had that even made a tiny bit of impact was Lorenzo White and he got stuck in a RB committee in Tennessee. Kelly should have been "vetted" better, as they should not have taken a gamble on him with the bad knee. Why we take gambles on a consistent basis is beyond me, especially when most of them haven't pan out. No matter what happens after this season with regards to Zorn saving his job or packing his bags, we are stuck with 2 busts at WR. Kelly gets somewhat of a pass from missing last season, but Thomas should have improved somewhat.

How about Julian Peterson and Plaxico Burress? |

When was the last time we traded a first rounder for an underperforming FA? |

:laughing2 You've met my doctor haven't you? I went to him with an eye infection one time and he put on his rubber glove and told me to drop my pants.????? I call him Dr. Hixon now. He's foreign so apparently something was lost in translation. I've since started learning Korean to help diffuse any further miscommunication. I would change doctors but he has small hands which I find beneficial during my anal, I mean annual, physical. |
Re: Where are Kelly & Thomas?
This same critique is coming from several sources now, Cossell, ESPN and now NFL Network guys were saying the same thing yesterday.
I guess on film it is clear these two guys are not getting any separation from their defenders. In my experiences I have found that guys that have weak or worn knees tend to have a problem cutting at full speed. I think both of these guys have had past knee problems? I would like to see Marko get some reps with the first team in a game. These two jokers Kelly/Thomas have been given enough time to prove themselves. It is time to give someone else a try and see if it is not the QB or system and not the receivers.
I watched the game and none of our WR were getting seperation. ARE did he even get a catch? They all had trouble getting open against the Bucs Tampa 2 defense. |

Plaxico Burress, Andre Rison, and Mussin Mohammed WR went to Michigan ST. they all had nice NFL careers. Burress is in jail not to good for him now. |
