Re: David Macklin our new CB

I think Carlos played a lot of good football last year. He got burned a a few times for sure but most of us who seem to think lss of him are over-valuing a few things that made him look bad.

1. He dropped every interception thrown his way. At the end of the day though he did break up the passes I gues.
2. The Scheme had all the corners playing way off. Made him look terrible.

The question is did they have him play off becuase he sucks or because they had no cnfidence in anybody behind him? I am expecting CR to step it up this year and become a pretty decent corner.

So that's why Rogers gave the auto-10 every down. The scheme. Hmmmm.

Good job Redskins on this signing. I can finally shut up about wanting another corner, thank God the FO agreed with me on this one.

Grim, as far as a viable argument for moving Springs to safety there is only one thing that comes to my mind.

Older corners typically can extend there careers/ improver there productivity by switching to safety, so from his standpoint, I can definitely see that he would be willing to make the change. Also, Considering that last year when PP went down, all hell broke loose and we sucked.

I happen to agree with you that moving our best corner is a bad idea. What we need is a little help from the D-line and a certain unnamed corner to hold on to couple balls.

At any rate, with this signing we're solid at corner, and can finally focus on fixing up the d-line.

Rod Woodson and Corey Fuller are two examples of top-notch corners who toward the twilight of their career moved to Safety. I think Springs can really help the team just by being on the field and as a safety he could arguably have a greater impact because he would have a better vantage point from which to "survey" the field, and be like a defensive QB.

However, my main gripe with moving Springs to safety is that I think he'd be better served as a free safety than a strong safety...so, would we move Taylor to strong safety?

I absolutely love this signing. Macklin will provide great depth at cb, and as for Springs moving to safety I doubt it will happen, I think it's more to do with the fact that Springs is injury prone. I believe this is what happens when Snyder lets Joe make the decisions.

Re: David Macklin our new CB

I think Springs would be a great safety. My problem is that given the current roster and the fact that they do not have the resources (picks, caproom) to improve the line and pick up a #1 corner.

Now if Rogers had turned into the player that we thought we drafted, I would say go for it but right now we have 1 #1 corner and 3 #2's (after the Macklin signing). I think it would hurt the team to switch our #1.

I also believe that this is the last year for Springs in D.C. When he used his leverage to turn down the restructuring it turned this into a contract year for him. I think they brought in Macklin for an audition this year and if Macklin or Rogers don't emerge, they will be corner shopping next year when cutting Springs will free up some cap.

Adam Schefter says 1 year, $760,000.

Definition of great deal.

I really dont think Springs is gonna be playin saftey for the skins, for that matter not corner back either. I think this just makes a deal with detroit even more evident, to pick up CJ. Who are detroits starting CB's ..... oh thats right you can't name one of em. Springs is goin to detroit along with our 6th pick and probaly a pick for next year. All you CJ haters get over it, hes a skin.

Macklin's a career backup with multiple weaknesses. What's all the cheering about?

Being from Phoenix I have seen him more than I would like... Very nice Pickup. Will do well with our blitzing schemes. BUT, he will be another WTF CB down field....we shall see.
