One thing I learned after the whole Fasel debacle was the front office and ownership not listen to fans .

Imagine if you will, An NFC conference championship game in the near future. Minnesota vs Washington, Cousins vs Smith. Game on the line, 2 minutes to go. Tied 20-20.

and the power goes out.
I still think they did that on purpose, they wanted kirk to commit and he wouldn't so they didn't commit to him on the field.
I think it's a part of it, I think the larger part of last year's FA style, was they didn't know what final number it would take to get KC signed, so they held back on any top tier signings so they could get him signed. And once it was clear that he wasn't, there wasn't any point.

I don't think that is it at all, Personally. Yes, I didn't quite understand getting rid of both Garcon and Jackson, but every single one of us knew the Redskins were not keeping both receivers heading into the 2017 season. The idea was that Josh Doctson would be good enough to take the place of either Garcon or Jackson, while still having Jordan Reed, Vernon Davis, and Jamison Crowder as weapons. And adding Pryor was a gamble, but one the 'skins didn't have to invest much in that could've turned out to be a great pick up. It didn't, Reed was hurt most of the season, and Doctson had flashes but nothing near Garcon or Jackson.

I think it's a bit absurd to think a team would purposely try limit themselves just to prove a point to their quarterback.

I think the team was trying to make some cap room in order for a future Cousins LTD signing. However, once again, his camp was willing to play the same game again (who would blame them) and the 'skins knew it wasn't going to be enough and he wasn't giving a hometown discount. In retrospect, probably should've traded Cousins at the end of 2016, re-signed Jackson and Garcon. The only problem with that would've been, quarterback. The "top" QB signing back in 2016 was Mike Glennon, who just got cut from the Bears. Maybe the 'skins would've made a move up to grab a QB, but it would've been another bet the farm for RGIII type of move.

I honestly believe everything works out better in this situation. The 'skins don't give up but one 3rd round pick for a well established QB with a lot left in his tank, he's a lot cheaper than Cousins will ever be, and they still have an opportunity to go out and get weapons. I think the Cousins camp put a lot of uncertainty into the situation and didn't give the 'skins many options.

I'm not saying they wanted to suck, I'm saying they may not have kept Djax or not signed a WR due to not knowing the status of KC.

And then the Undertaker slowly walks out, choke slams Daniel Snyder. Tombstones Bruce Allen. Gives Jay Gruden the big boot. Chokeslams Kirk Cousins, Alex Smith, 90 year old Bud Carson, the old ball coach (who invited him anyway), and Ed Houchuli. Gives his cut throat sign, and then walks out of the stadium as the new XFL theme music starts playing after his "bells" theme music ends.

Yeah, you guys are going over board with the WR conspiracy here.

I think they made the right decision not overpaying for aging talent, but then they whiffed in FA. This was exacerbated by Doctson's need for development, Reed and Thompson injuries, and Cousin's unwillingness to take shots to the developing WRs during practice, Perine not being a gem, etc.

No I'm sorry that is just too logical, it must be that the team tanked on offense on purpose so they could either sign Kirk or hurt his value in FA. SMH

Bomani Jones on Lebatard "After speaking to film guys, they all said Jay Gruden was most responsible for the stats and success of Kirk"

That speaks highly about Jay

its possible and hey, they would know better than me ... jays playcalling - or overall decisions more likely -- REALLY bother me sometimes, though.
