That's the problem with Warriors, I just don't see the Native American tribes that have been bitching about the name for 20 years being ok with continued use of the logo. Any logo really, it doesn't matter if it's the main logo, or the spear logo, anything connected to Native Americans (without the specific endorsement of a specific tribe) would not fly.

I think if Snyder was going to keep the name Native American-affiliated, he would use the endorsement of a specific tribe to make it work. I guarantee that wouldn't stop a different tribe (probably Oneida) from arguing against it though. And there's no telling whether it would calm the general public/corporate outcry either.

Agree, Red Tails and Red Hawks sound like lame college nicknames. I prefer Warriors or Americans but think keeping the logo wont fly so that has to change too. If they stick with any old logo I think the spear (minus the feathers) is the least likely to cause trouble.

The Wolves could also be a name that works since the Wolf is an important animal to Native Americans.

Agree, the only reason they are even being considered is because the word "red" is in the name.

I don't think the feathers will work. William & Mary (The Tribe) had two feathers for a logo and that had to change. Any Native American imagery is a non-starter.

Matty, I can understand why you feel this way and it's the easiest way out. I hate, HATE that they are forcing this name change and for all the wrong reasons. Personally, I hope Snyder decides to pick a name and logo that still honors Native Americans and keeps some semblance of the colors and logos that most of us have grown up cherishing. Because of liking the Redskins as a young kid, I read books and researched more about Native Americans than I ever would have if not for them, and I guarantee I'm not alone with that. So again, just my opinion...but I hope Snyder doesn't go all PC and pick something generic just to appease the masses. HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!

I just want us to stay far away from anything regarding politics and REALLY far from anything regarding race/skin color. Wouldn't it be a little disingenuous to suddenly change to something because you got pressure to? Would hate to "back into" doing something respectable. If you're going to do it, do it because you want to, not because you were pressured to.

Absolutely. Keeping any NA imagery or name reference means someone (NA or not) will find a reason to be upset. If they are going to make a change change it all the way.

Revolution is a good name but the New England's MLS team already took that name. If they could steal a team name I'd love to see them called the "Go-Go" after DC's music but there already a basketball team in DC called the Go-Go.

Something else to consider since the nickname is being changed...could Snyder use this to get a new stadium venue. If Virginia wanted the team, deal could be made to change the name to the Virginia _________ if they outbid DC. Since ALL of this is just about money anyway, I'd drag this out if I were Snyder to get the best deal...especially with the minority owners also possibly wanting out, he may try to do anything to save his stake in the ownership.

Washington Redhawks also has no native connection, you can say the feathers on the R are from a Hawk. Other than that, they would have to wipe out the whole scheme in place and come up with something new ASAP...

I would think that somebody at the Redhawks Nest (fka Redskins Park) would have the eloquence and poise to go before the press and gently explain to the foaming at the mouth reporters that birds have ...[I] <gasp!>[/I]... feathers.

We are jettisoning 75 years of history to appease the hysterical mobs. Might they let us keep a few feathers?

When I hear that, I point out that the current logo was designed by a Native American at the behest of Native Americans. George Allen thought it a great idea.

That is one of the things that has bothered me about this from the start. People have had to fabricate reasons why it is offensive.

Probably too late right now for a full logo/uniform change for this season. Probably will have to go with a modified design for this year and next year unveil a new look. I like the idea of keeping the burgundy and gold, but all new logos.

I've seen some Warriors logo's out there with the W but they were garbage. One looked like the U of W on the helmet , that's just plain to me

Look,first of all,I love the team as much as anyone,but let's get away from anything Native -American as far as a new name goes-now as far as names go should be something that identifies with the city-Monuments-Federals[yes I know about the old USFL team]but that was a whole different time and league-Express-Archives...well just some ideas,I''ll be following this as I'm sure everyone else will...I just hope they don't name em anything stupid sounding.
