You have to work for an owner who pals around w/ the QB, you have two young QB's and don't know if either are the long term future, one of which might be hard to coach, 2-3 starters need to be replaced on the o-line, need another wr or two, TE can't stay on the field, no pass rush, no safties, no MLB and no first round pick. This isn't one of the top jobs anymore. The Lions job is better job than this one. |

- Tied worst record (3-13) in team history (1994).
- Most points allowed in team history (478). Beat previous record by 46 points. - 4th worst point differential in team history (-144), worst since 1961. - Longest losing streak (8) in over 50 years. What a waste of 4 years. Good riddance. F the Shannys. |

you dont go 3-13 in this glorious train wreck fashion without fault at every level from owner to coach to player to ball boy imo.
I tend to disagree with that notion. Shanahan, from a pure coaching perspective (X's and O's, coaching guys to play above their normal threshold, etc) is a fantastic coach.
He calls a good game, plays the odds, and I've always respected his accomplishments on the field in a game. I think where he implodes is on any personnel decisions. That's why they gave him the boot in Denver, and ultimately why he has failed here in D.C. Either way, he's gone. Good riddance. I'm not excited this go round for out coaching change. Quite frankly, I'm extremely pessimistic. I think there are some good choices out there (Jay Gruden HC, Raheem Morris DC, Hire a true GM), but I simply think we won't do it.
I think he showed himself to be an incredibly bad in-game coach for us personally. |

What he always failed to mention is that the cap penalties happened under HIS watch and HIS direction. He didn't inherit a $36 cap penalty. His actions, either directly or implicitly created that situation. 12 of 34 draft picks under his watch made contributions to the team this year, unexcusable. Of his 2nd and 3rd round picks, (none in 2010, Jenkins & Hankerson in 2011, LeRiebus in 2012, Amerson & Reed in 2013) only one (Reed) is a potential star and he's fragile. Of his 4th round picks (Riley, Helu, Cousins, K. Robinson, P. Thomas) only Riley has shown capable of impacting the game week in and week out. If not for Morris, his late round record would be (still is overall) atrocious. A lot was made in Bruce Allen's presser about Campbell and Brown being given the chance to succeed with their ideas so I'd love to hear how many of these guys were all Shanny and how many did they also sign off on. |

No shit? Wonder if the punitive measures we saw had more to do with Shanahans history than Skins/Mara etc? Cap infractions seem like a rarity in the NFL, pretty bush league to make a habit of it. Geez I'm glad it's over. The future looks soooooo bright now. |

Actually, that happened at a time before he had full control. I'm quite positive he had no say so on contracts during that time. |

There is a lot of talk on this right now at some of the other redskins boards. I hope it's not true but it wouldn't surprise me. What happens to the rooney rule if the skins have already decided that Haslett is the replacement? Do they still have to interview a minority candidate if the replacement is already on staff? I thought i read somewhere that it doesn't apply if the next coach is already on the staff... |

I honestly don't think he did that bad of a job given the shit hand he was dealt, and now this talk that Shanny would sometimes undermine him and call defensive plays. That said I don't think he'll be here next year. Depending on who they they decide to go with at HC I think he's just an insurance policy. |

That said I don't think he'll be here next year. Depending on who they they decide to go with at HC I think he's just an insurance policy.
I thought so too. One thing about Haslett is I thought his timing of certain play calls was TERRIBLE. Never thought he was that bad, but damn, when it should have been the most obvious play call, he'd call the opposite. Also, something about his scheme lets TEs totally eat us up. Basically the middle of the field in front of our LBs is always wide open. Maybe it's the talent, but I don't remember that being an issue prior to Haslett. |
Re: It's official: Shanahan fired
I just don't see much good in the product Haslett has put out. He haslet people run and pass all over us (hardy har). But seriously, I feel like he has gotten less production out of the talent that he DOES have, than he ought to have. Now certainly, he hasn't had much to work with in certain areas, but I just feel with everything invested in the pass rush we ought to have one by now.
