Boston fans said get in line, they are wanting one for Carl Crawford first. |
Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
The bigger story here is probably the Marlins' unloading of Sanchez and the white flag that represents. What an underachieving team the '12 Marlins turned out to be. A mere three years ago, a Hanley Ramirez/Jose Reyes infield would have automatically been one of the best in baseball, regardless of who might be playing first and second. Now it's 100% average, at best. I'm waiting on the expose of what the %$*% happened to Hanley Ramirez.
You should definitely be watching the Franchise on Showtime. Such a awesome show. |

I mean god damn, what is Seattle feeling guilty about the Jesus Montero trade? Give me a effing break, Ichiro is Seattle...wow. God damn I hate the f*cking Yankees
Yeah, the Montero deal was BAD for the Yankees, even if the pitcher they got hadn't injured himself. Is Seattle having money issues? Two unknown minor league pitchers for the greatest hitter in the game since Pete Rose? He's still great, not quite the Ichiro he used to be but worth way more than they got back in return. Funny part about this deal...the two teams were playing in Seattle. Ichiro just showed up the the park as usual but went to the other locker room, suited up and went out and got a hit in his first AB as a Yank. Crazy deal....never saw this coming. I didn't think Seattle would ever part with him. The fans are probably pisssed. Japan too...since Seattle was just a plane ride away. :D |
Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
I think the Mariners even gave the Yankees cash as part of the deal. Seattle had to do something, Ichiro didn't want to be part of the rebuilding process. Still, has to hurt for the fans
|
Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
Yeah, Yanks paying approx. $2.2mil if the $7.6mil salary...less than half the price for half a season, so Seattle chipped in some cash.
With Gardner probably not coming back, Swisher hurt now...smart move, so they don't have to rely on Andruw Jones and Dwayne Wise down the stretch. Ichiro wearing #31, not Bernie's number. |

Ah . . . alas. I have Showtime but haven't watched any episodes of The Franchise. Does this provide the expose that I'm wishing for on Ramirez? BTW, rumors are that Ramirez is indeed being shopped now. Among possible suitors, I'd pull for the A's to grab him. |
Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
Hanley is a Dodger now.
Also, the Phillies just made a STUPID move. They've been trying to trade Cole Hamels. No one wanted him for the salary he makes....so the Phillies made him the 2nd-highest paid pitcher behind Sabathia after failing to trade him. Bonehead move. He's not worth THAT money, and definitely not worth more than Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay. They're going to regret this I think. |

Insane deal. The Dodgers were a contender BEFORE adding these guys. A-Gonz hit a HR in his first AB with the Dodgers too.
I really love to see the complete implosion of the Red Sox. Hopefully they'll go back for another 86-year drought. Their fans are unbearable when they're winning. I just looked up their new roster. What a lineup: Shane Victorino Nick Punto Matt Kemp Adrian Gonzalez Hanley Ramirez Andre Ethier Luis Cruz A.J. Ellis Plus Carll Crowford on DL fr next year? Solid bench with Adam Kennedy, Juan Uribe, Juan Rivera. Starters: Kershaw, Backett, Capuano, Harang, Billingsley (DL), Lilly, Blanton |

New deal for MLB and ESPN
ESPN has agreed to a deal that locks down MLB rights into the next decade, according to several sources. The eight-year deal is worth $5.6B (an average of $700M per year), approximately doubling the nearly $306M ESPN currently pays MLB every year for domestic TV rights. The new deal adds in digital, international and radio, for which ESPN is paying MLB around $50M currently, sources said. Sources added the deal will be announced as soon as this afternoon. As part of the deal, which runs through ‘21, ESPN retains the rights to "Sunday Night Baseball," its Monday and Wednesday night games and highlights for "Baseball Tonight." ESPN also will carry one Wild Card playoff game, sources said. In its current deal, ESPN does not have rights to any MLB playoffs. As part of the deal, ESPN adds more digital rights, the rights to show games in-progress and some radio and international rights. ESPN also picked up rights to carry games featuring more popular teams, like the Yankees and Red Sox, more frequently.
|

50-year old Roger Clemens' debut with the Atlantic League's Sugarland Skeeters:
3 and 1/3 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts. 25 of 37 pitches were strikes and he hit 88 MPH. Manager Gary Gaetti said he believes Roger was holding back from throwing harder because he had soreness in his leg, which he iced after coming out of the game. Scouts for the Astros and KC Royals were at the game. People keep talking bout manager of year, Bob Melvin for me. Simply unbelievable with that squad tied for the wildcard spot in the AL. Name a player on that team.

Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
Robin Ventura.
Even myself, a lifelong White Sox fan did not think the team would be even close to contending. The team lost their manager (Ozzie Guillen), their top pitcher (Mark Buehrle), their closer (Sergio Santos), their best outfielder (Carlos Quentin) and last year's big pickups forgot how to hit (Adam Dunn and Alex Rios). Jake Peavy could not stay off the DL, Gordon Beckham, the best prospect in years seemed to be a big time bust...I was ready for a battle with the Royals for the basement, as a fan of the team! The Tigers, Twins and even Indians looked to be the teams to beat in the AL Central. They're in first place with a month to go. Peavy has resurrected his career. Dunn is a monster HR hitter again. Chris Sale should be a Cy Young candidate. Konerko continues to show no age. It's been a great year. |
