Oh boy...I got the Snyder & Jones hate running all through me...and if that is childish then so be it.
It's also childish to wear my favorite team's football jersey and loudly cheering on Sundays but I find time to do that. The simple point is Snyder could care less about a rivalry or remaining competitive against NFL teams...it all seems to come back to the money...it's hard to agrue that as childish.
The simple point is you basically have no clue what you're talking about. You're making huge assumptions that he could care less about a rivalry or remaining competitive among NFL teams. Jim Irsay and Robert Kraft are friends. Oh no! Notifty the Colts and Patriots fans that their owners don't care at all about the Pats vs. Colts rivalry. It's been a sham this whole time! Lamar Hunt and Pat Bowlen were friends. That must mean there never was a Chiefs vs. Broncos rivalry! You and I aren't friends...but we still root for the same team |
Re: Lighten Up On Snyder
A lot of crazy assumptions have been made around here lately. Seems that the more the team loses, the bigger the fish stories.

Keep calling them fish stories but it's hard to agrue what our franchise has been about the last ten years. Snyder's Skins were the highest grossing franchise this past year yielding 360M in revenue. At that pace there's no reason for anybody to make changes...like Snyder said himself..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it" If you're not buying this fish story, then what are you buying every offseason when Snyder tells you we have a Super Bowl team? |
Dungy wasn't coming here anyways. He's done with day to day football.
Fine. Let him be team president, oversee things, be our Parcells, and hire a real GM. But even this won't happen if he disagrees with the culture which Snyder creates. |

I think I do, or at least I like to think I do, but people on here keep pointing out that I actually don't have a clue and keep making shit up also. ;) As far as DS. I think he genuenly does want to win but he can't keep his hands out of the cookie jar. but no matter how you look at it, DS is going no where. People have got to be crazy if they think he (DS) is going to pack his crap and walk away. I understand he's not fielding a winning team, but in reality he's fielding a winning team monitarily. In other words he's making money and that's what business is all about. He's a business man and he's winning. I doubt he's estatic but he's happy. So I don't care how many people complain about him (DS) he's staying. We would be better off trying to convince him to look into rebuild mode and stepping back out of the picture and allow a true football person handle the team for a change....which he could not do during Schottenheimer1. |
Re: Lighten Up On Snyder
First it was just kind of pointing out the close relationship that he has with Jerry Jones and that fact that they go on vacations with each other and share vacation homes between the families. Snyder also makes a point to sit next to Jerry Jones during the owners meetings too.
It's great that cowboys and redskins can get along but really...I possess some MAJOR distaste for Jerry Jones and the whole cowboys organization. Hearing that it's just a business that they're pals just kind of rubs salt in the wound that the cowboys are more competitive than we are. I thought others would be disgusted by the fact that Snyder pretty much loves him some cowboys...the rivalry doesn't mean much to him at the top. From the bottom I don't take solace in finding that out.
Dude, have you ever played a game, fantasy football, etc., with friends? Have you ever competed hard with your friends to win yet you remain friends? The fact is, Snyder's friendship with Jerry Jones does not mean that they can't feel a rivalry. In fact, their friendship might make the rivalry more intense between them. Friendship of a certain type may do that. |

Re: Lighten Up On Snyder
Snyder has been recieving negative backlash since his experiment with Bruce Smith, Mark Carrier, Dieon Sanders, Jeff George and a host of others.
He may not seem like a bad owner to those who don't have a lot to compare him too, but being a supporter of this team long before Snyder was born, he fails miserably in comparison to his predecessor. Even the late George Marshall who was the owner when we purchased our first season tickets, with all his faults would turn over in his grave if he could what has been done to his beloved Redskins. People who truly love the Redskins and have been faithful followers for many years are not going to let Snyder off the hook as easily as a few lines from the keypad, they're going to stay on his case until he demonstrates he's willing/or has learned how to run a professional sports franchise. The onus is on him, if he never learns it won't be because he hasn't had time to do so, or supporters willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Some of you guys don't remember Jack Kent Cooke. Class owner in the vein of the Marra's and Rooney's. The Redskins problems start at the top and it is getting very difficult trying to get behind a guy every year who seems to just flounder. The hiring of Zorn as OC, (before hiring a head coach) then making him head coach was just so backwards that I could hardly believe it. I don't question whether he wants to win. It is how he is going about it. The franchise will not have extended success until he either lets go of the meddling or sells the team. I don't see either coming anytime soon so I thank god that hockey starts this week. |

I totally agree with you but I think DS saw what JJ did in Dallas with their current HC and thought hey I can do the same thing. I think we all know our current problems stem from the teams coaching staff being jammed together from two seperate coaching tree's. I'm sure they are doing their best to get a long and make this work out to keep their jobs but I wonder how much even a little this is playing a part in our current problems. |

I just don't put much stock in this silly junior high school drama of who's friends with who.
Agreed. As you know, I have very critical opinions on what Dan Snyder has done to this franchise and his inability to see his faults. We on here differ on some of those opinions. I can be one of Snyder's harshest critics, because I think he absolutely deserves it. BUT, BUT Criticize him because who he is friends with? Uhhhh, that is a bit assinine. Perhaps Sndyer and Jones are friends because they share the same future vision for the NFL as a whole. Atre they not both considered to be progressive owners as far as NFL business as a whole? People seem to forget that Dan Snyder owns more than the Redskins. he owns a piece of a much bigger thing, the NFL. And the health and future of the NFL greatly effects his investment in this franchise. So to begin hammering away at Snyder because iis friend with Jones or any other owners defeats the purpose of arguing Snyder's ownership and franchise control. Wow, what a leap. lol. |

The cellphone trick he pulls is just hiliarious!...too funny...Snyder's not so bad. Actually this doesn't surprise me at all. They're rivals but also business partners. No big deal here. But this doesn't give him a pass. He needs to step back and completly remove himself from the football stuff and let a true football man run his football team. If I were him I'd be on the phone with Bill Polian's son. Re: Lighten Up On Snyder
Lighten up on Snyder? That dude is charging you to park a car in a stadium! Most stadiums don't charge and those that do only charge a few bucks. Snyder charges you a small fortune. Snyder also tells you where you can park your car in his stadium. He also leaves about 50,000 open purple parking spaces every game; just so dumbasses like us have to park in a cash lot three miles away and shuttle it to the stadium. Has anyone had to do this before? You park in the cash lot and then wait 5--10 minutes for the shuttle to leave, then you sit in traffic for 15-30 minutes, and then you finally unload, and as you walk up to the stadium...................you see a SHIT LOAD OF EMPTY SPACES IN THE PURPLE LOT! THATS BULLSHIT!!! Making us park 3 miles away for no reason...................its just bullshit! It really is!
He keeps raising the prices of tickets too. A little bit more each year, just for fun probably. He sues his fanbase for not paying up during a Recession. He gives away more tickets to the visiting team then any other team in the NFL. And to top it off, he almost always puts a losing team on the field!!!! And you're actually saying, "Lighten up????" Are you kidding me? He's not a football owner. He's a business man, who owns a football team. He's out there to get your money and that is all. He's not trying to build a succesful team. He's over here to run a business and a very profitable business at that. Once the Redskins went 10-6 under Gibbs 2.0 (Should have been 12-4, the refs screwed us in a couple of games) You remember what he did? He jacked up the ticket prices from $79 at face value to $109 at face value. He did that, because he knew we would buy it and he wanted more money. Look, I can go on and on and I will if you want me too. But, you need to realize the facts. And the fact is that he runs the second most profitable football team in the NFL right now. That is what he does. He makes money. He doesn't build a winner. He hasn't in ten years and he won't ever. He will only continue to build a team to make money. That is what he has done and what he will continue to do. WAKE UP! And I want a winner here once again! And until Danny quits making money and gives me one............I WILL NEVER LIGHTEN UP ON HIM.
I read what you bolded and I fail to see how they qualify as facts. It's your opinion and your entitled to it, but they're simply not facts.
The fact was my original statement over Snyder and Jones being close friends... I simply said that it irked me that he pals around with his biggest rival and he's gets along too well with Jones for a guy who has been coming up short in their competitive rivarly. Snyder's petty enough to sue little old ladies over season tickets but he's not petty enough to be focused against his rival? I've seen Snyder do some pretty petty things, like keep Norv Turner waiting for 3+ hours outside of his office before he brought him in to fire him, so to say that he isn't petty enough to not cavort with cowboys is not a stretch. |

EVER!
Coincidentally that is what our discussion has been about so far Miller...it's funny you popped in to say that. That's what we were just debating here...whether Snyder is making money, or making champions. You have an interesting opinion that people on this thread will probably find logically critical, Miller. Check out the complete first page of this thread though...it's done with a satrical vein so you probably missed something : ) |
