They really didn't spend big. They are still way under the cap. |
Probably. I've never seen anyone with more physical skill, but that doesn't get one far at all without a work ethic.
Until he went to the Raiders he was on pace to beat Rice's records. |

I love how its ok for the Patriots to drop and add players with abandon. Aside from Troy Brown, I think all their recievers change each year it seems. |
Re: Brady's Bedtime Buddies
i'm calling it right now.
redskins vrs. pats in the superbowl :point: |

They get a pass because they win and we don't. |
They get a pass because they win and we don't.
Yeah, they've earned the benefit of the doubt. The Skins haven't won with all of the offseason spending they've done, the Pats have shown they know how to win. That's why no one jumps on the Pats. And people were picking the Skins to the Super Bowl the year they went out and got Deion, Carrier, Smith, George, etc. then they wised up... |
Re: Brady's Bedtime Buddies
Apparently it's also ok for the 49ers who have spent heavily this offseason in free agency, I haven't heard many gripes about them from the media not being able to buy a championship.

Re: Brady's Bedtime Buddies
This is the first year the Pats have spent significant amount of money (Snyder Dollars) on FA. Snyder does it every year except this year and last year. You can credit Gibbs for reeling Snyder in.
Plus most of Snyder's past big signing have NOT worked out as expected. So Snyder looks bad in the national media. Don't blame the media or the vast right wing anti-Snyder conspiracy (i sound like Hillary C.). Snyder did it to himself. Be a man and accept the blame. Nobody forced us to go out and outspend every other team in FA. We tried short cuts and it blew up in our face. That is all. The press is correct in saying what they say because it is factually correct. Sometimes the truth hurts. |

For whatever reason, he was a completely useless player last year. Knowing that under certain conditions, he ca ngo completely AWOL, I don't understand what the Pats of all teams are doing here. |

Likewise, I feel like Denver has obtained free agents at the same level as the Skins for the past few seasons and yet no one really talks about them. |
Re: Brady's Bedtime Buddies
But do you not realize that winning 3 sbs and reeling off 21-22 straight wins in a row are A-list examples of exactly how lucky this team has been over the years.
They are good. They were the best football team in the league in 2003 and 2004 which is very tough to do. But they were lucky to play 21 games without running into a bad matchup at least once. Great luck combined with great skill is a deadly combination.
A bad matchup??? Please define a bad matchup. Is that a team that is better, matches up well against you, I dont think I've ever heard of a bad matchup except when it refers to a really good team (which was N.E.) during their streak) playing a really bad team. So actually I guess they ran into alot of bad matchups. Maybe you meant a good matchup because that would refer to two very good teams playing against each other. Which i'm pretty sure happened within a 21 game streak. I'm not sure why people can't give credit where credit is deserved. Luck is not a one sided thing, balls dont always bounce the same way and oppurtunities are presented to both teams during a game. The better team just knows how to capitalize. And trust me I hate the Patriots just like almost everyone else, I hope Tom Brady gets herpes, from Mike Vick, but In the end I have a feeling that alot of our hatred is the result of envy. |

I would also say the fact that he had Joe Montana and Steve Young and Rich Gannon (all three MVP's) as his QB might have helped a tiny bit but what do I know... They are a slight upgrade over Andrew Walter, Aaron Brooks and Tuiasasucko. For whatever reason? Are you serious? How about the worst line in football and a Rookie QB? |

I think the difference there is that they've sucked without blowing money on free agent busts. If Clements and whoever else they've signed bomb this year, and they go out and do the same thing next year, and the year after -- you know, the way the Redskins do it -- then you'll start hearing the criticism. With the emergence of Alex Smith, Frank Gore's running, and what many consider to one of the best drafts this year, they seem to be the consensus 'sleeper' team of the year. |

22 straight games happened where the Patriots avoided something critically unlucky happening to them. Is it possible to be the most talented team out on the field every time you take it? Of course. But to win 22 in a row with nothing catastrophic happening in crunch time is the true definition of good fortune. Do you honestly think we weren't a better team than the Titans or Vikings last year? Do you think that we were a better team than the Saints or Panthers? Look, all those games were close, but ultimately decided by a select few number of event played out in the last few minutes of the game. In our case 2 went against us, 2 went for us. It evened out somewhat. Well, New England played 22 straight games without anybody coming through in the clutch against them, which is absolutely astounding. Number one, its a tribute to them for dominating or being in every game, I'm not taking that away from them. But more importantly, when the close games in that 22 game streak came down to the wire, the ball always bounced NEs way. When that streak ended, they were completely outplayed and blown out by Pittsburgh. No question who the better team was on the field that day. |
Re: Brady's Bedtime Buddies
personally, i think that kelly washington is ok, stallworth is a good speed guy, who if u dont remember in philly last year had an 80 yd td against us, i think u under sell him cuz he's an ex eagle and u just dont like him. cuz hes good. and moss, its randy moss man, get over it the guy has talent.... and with tom brady throwing the ball, unless there line sucks this year, they will be a top passing team...

I get that the Skins have a long track record of trying this and failing. But why do certain teams get a free pass when they try? If you really can't buy a championship as they say, it seems that every team should be blasted for even trying. |

I think sometimes you try and over analyze everything. I mean your making up all these silly comments about how nobody came up in the clutch, the ball always bounces NE's way, favorable match-ups and what not. All that mumbo-jumbo sounds ridicules. If Mark Brunell had Qbed a streak like that and it was the Redskins you would be doing back-flips like the rest of us. Just give credit where credit is due. Jeez! If anyone rolls off 21 in a row and wins 3 SB's in 4 years they are simply a great great football team. Hands down. When the streak ended Pitt. was the better team that day. No question about that. But what happended later that year? NE came back into Pitt. and won on the road in the playoffs. No luck involved that day if I recalled. NE confused the living hell out of Ben R. and they went on to win the SB. |
