Collins being awesome is…..awesome. As I see it, these days you can’t have too many good players on the backs end.
Definitely refreshing to read - I was one of a few who wanted us to move on this offseason and let Kam Curl start. But if Collins can be an impact player there's no reason why we can't use both of them. |
A couple names I didn't expect to see on this list, and one I surely did.
3 players who’ve made biggest impressions at training camp so far: https://riggosrag.com/2021/08/03/wft-3-players-whove-made-biggest-impressions-at-training-camp-so-far/
Great read. Collins is highly motivated and healthy. If he regains his former form while at NY, secondary could be awesome. Getting giddy thinking about our safeties with him, Curl, and Mccain if Collins balls out. Great read. Have heard a lot about Deandre Carter. Starting to think our wrs will be significantly improved. Cannot wait to see the 1st preseason game to get a glimpse. Hail WFT! |

I'll have to see him excel in full speed full pad full contact football before I get excited though. One thing that disappointed me last year was his tackling. |
Re: What Training Camp battles intrigue you the most?
I would hold your horses on Collins. This pre season talk is just that. It means nothing and we hear this positive talk about certain players every year. The guy can not run and has little quickness.

He also knows this new regime isn't screwing around and will cut him if it's best for the team. I agree he hasn't worked out so far. But he's still fairly young and can regain form. I will be cautiously optimistic with him.

edit - never mind.

If he can just be baked chicken instead of BBQ I'll take it. He isn't that old and was pretty damn good before. He should be able to be at least playable. But I agree, my horses are in the barn on him until he is playing against other teams. |

August right before pre season games is always the time when feel good puff stories come out. |
Re: What Training Camp battles intrigue you the most?
The fact that Collins didn't start out on PUP is a good sign he's 100%.

I think if we accept Collins for who he is and what he brings - in box safety, on field coach for secondary - we wouldnt be so hard on him. Hes clearly overpaid for his skill set as in box safeties are dime a dozen imo but hes one of the better ones. Seems like he brings a good vet approach to working out, putting in work, team seems to like him. |

Re: What Training Camp battles intrigue you the most?
Logan Thomas is playing great according to some reports. He is growing into a good TE, he is definitely a great find by FO - many of us were worried about the TE position last year and some were upset about the fact that we didn't try harder to sign Hooper while FO was content with Thomas lol..

That "some" def included me. Especially when I saw what he signed for w the Browns. TE was such a black hole and I thought we were gifted in having 2-3 real good TEs avail in FA. Real happy with Logan. Just a great nfl story. Shades of Quinton Dunbar story arc but without the mental softness. Hoping this WR Humphries can rejuvenate his career in the slot for us, Deandre Carter is another journeyman storyline. |

Good review about some of the position battles still going on: https://www.hogshaven.com/2021/8/18/22630425/several-wft-position-battles-that-are-likely-to-play-out-over-the-next-few-weeks
Reading it gets me all giddy for tonight's game we have some serious depth decisions we haven't seen in awhile. |
