They instituted that new policy in 2014 after the Ray Rice thing. Made it cut and dry, first incident, 6 week suspension. Second incident, indefinite.

There have been more than a handful of cases since then and none were handled consistently.

Charges were dropped and there wasn't a film of the incident, or pictures of someone who showed signs of abuse released to the media, that is the difference. Public opinion means everything to the NFL.

Carbon copy of Zeke Elliots case. No charges.
However, Foster is arrested TWICE in less than a month, Drugs and domestic violence.

I just want to see consistency.

Really? I thought Zeke Elliot was caught on tape pulling a woman's top down in public. Correct me if I am wrong.

Nope. He was suspended for an alleged act while he was at Ohio State. The NFL spent over a year investigating domestic violence allegations raised by Elliott’s former girlfriend in Columbus, Ohio. She filed police reports and went to the Columbus City Attorney’s office to pursue charges in July 2016. [B]Elliott was never charged with a crime.[/B]

So he was punished for something that was already adjudicated before he even in the NFL, yet the NFL decided to hold him accountable?

Water under the bridge. Again, it is just consistency. And the NFL screwed the pooch yet again.

With Foster there are a lot of questions as to whether the woman is trying to extort him by claiming he's assaulting her. The integrity of her character is a huge factor in the prosecution deciding to drop the case and not press any charges against Foster.

With Zeke there's video evidence of wrong-doing. As mentioned by others, public perception is everything for Roger, like it or not. And I don't like it myself, I'd rather see it managed fairly by an independent arbitrator.

Definitely agree there. I would like to see the NFL have a committee of 5 for disciplinary measures, not Roger Goodell's dictatorship. He definitely does not apply the rules equal for all and also goes hell bent and over board on certain issues and ignores others.

Yeah, its not a good comparison because of the character of the woman in Foster's case is in question.

Another thing ill throw in...I wonder if OSU looked the other way with Zeke's behavior, a willful ignorance...big programs kinda have a history and look who was the coach and his track record at Florida.

Past behavior is taken in consideration when doling out punishment. That incident on film in 2017 definitely played a part in Elliot's recent suspension.
