giving up ~0.5 sacks a game is just ridiculous.
18, 22, 19, 14, 20, 17, 20, 11, 14, 20, 15, 16, 12, 13, 16, 23, 20, 20, 17

Avg ~ 16

Those are the least number of sacks by a team for each year since '96, so even the best over the past 20 years haven't come close, and they gave up half of what the best teams generally give up every year. That's just crazy. So far I can only find one better team with that stat, the '88 Dolphins only gave up 7.

In almost all of the glory years for the Redskins, that's been the case. A stout defense, ridiculous OL, brutal running game. QB's have always been mid pack guys who played well for a short time. We've had very few if any QB's who were long time "franchise" guys since Sonny.. 6 wins or 10 wins, this is Redskins football and I'm damn glad to see it come back..

I would have gladly given the 5th pick in the draft for Russ Grimm if it would have taken that. I'm glad we're finally taking linemen seriously. I have no problem with our draft this year whatsoever. As SFredskin pointed out, who would you have rather drafted right now. Alex Mack or Brian Orakpo?

Re: Drafting a guard in the first round.

orakpo wasn't bad at all, he just wanted too much money and got hurt a bit too much. even with hindsight, that's not a terrible pick.

Man, I miss the hogs. Here's to hoping that the current line becomes their 21st century incarnation.

Football is won in the trenches..Even a great D line makes average DB'S look good!

Heres a OMG scenario for you guys that want to fix the run game and give Cousins better protection.
Cody Whitehair is the highest rated guard on the CBS board.
Yet he is rated #37 overall.
Which means he could be there at 21.
And can he play center?
You see where I am going with this?

My official Center draftee man crush:

Austin Blythe, C, Iowa, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

Blythe plays with good knee bend to hold up to bull rushes, slides well laterally and carries dynamite in his hands to pop defenders, often surprising opponents with his power and knocking them to the turf. Shows some nastiness in his play, looking to pancake and land on top of opponents. He isn't just a pile driver, however, showing impressive agility and understanding of angles to sneak ahead of opponents and seal them off, creating easy lanes for his teammates to exploit

"Blythe, who’s among the 333 prospects at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine, said he met with a Redskins representative at the Senior Bowl earlier this month but hadn’t yet spoken to anyone from the team this week in Indianapolis"

"IN OUR VIEW: Blythe may not come with the name recognition and length of some of the other top center prospects in 2016, but he's pro-ready, boasting the smarts, toughness and technique to project as a future starter who might still be available in the middle rounds."

This is the guy I want us to draft at Center

So he was Schreiffs C when he was there too right. I have no problem drafting another nasty smart Iowa OL

He is a smaller guy though. 6-2 293 isnt the size we want. We alreadt have a Kory L

He def played along Schreff for a couple years. So last year he was a full time Center for an Iowa team which was outstanding. His weight is a little low, but he can bulk up.

Well, true, but he can bulk. So he just did that, 225 29 times leading the Center candidates at the combine.

Re: Drafting a guard in the first round.

Hes rated the #6 center on CBS.
Going by that I'd say hes a fith rounder at best.

(yes I know CBS isnt perfect)

That Guy 02-26-2016 02:54 PM

Re: Drafting a guard in the first round.

CBS is probably the best in projections.

most years the top C is like, a high 3rd rounder, and usually guards don't really get picked until the 2nd round. every now and then you get someone crazy like a hutchinson though.

definitely a guy to keep an eye on. i'd be shocked if we didn't draft an og/c type in the 2nd-5th round. if the skins met him at the senior bowl, there's a good chance they got what they needed there.
