Sterling got shit on.
Silver definitely put the hammer down on him, but he deserved it. Not that Donald Sterling being a racist should be surprising to anyone given his history, but he was bound to slip up sometime. Sounds like it's going to be a hell of a legal battle trying to force Sterling to sell, but Silver will definitely have the support of the other owners. I'll defer to JR's knowledge on this, but I think the main thing is money. If every sponsor pulls out until Sterling is gone and the fans protest by not coming to the games, eventually he will be forced to consider offers. |
Re: NBA Season 2013-2014
Can someone explain to me just how that will work forcing Donald Sterling to sell the team? If all of the owners vote unanimously to remove him, then is he expected to voluntarily turn over the team or would it take going to court, etc.. to force him to do it?
What happens if the owners do not have enough votes to remove him? Will his ban be lifted since at that point they can't remove him as owner? I'm pretty sure something like this has never happened before, but has it??? |

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Slams Donald Sterling’s Mistress For ‘Betrayal’ | News One
For the most part I agree with Kareem's take but the tricky part is having someone labeled a racist is not something that should be taken lightly. It's in the same ballpark as wife beater and sex offender. If someone is incorrectly labeled a racist it has the potential to ruin their entire life. Better 9 guilty men go free than 1 innocent man found guilty himself. Though I guess its ironically an improvement. Back in the day being a racist didn't mean much so the fact that its taken seriously now is most certainly a plus. So while the tactics used to expose Sterling were absolutely deplorable and most regrettable for this situation they were kind of necessary. It would have been easy enough for him to explain away the other incidents. With this theres no doubt.
So, if we’re all going to be outraged, let’s be outraged that we weren’t more outraged when his racism was first evident. Let’s be outraged that private conversations between people in an intimate relationship are recorded and publicly played. Let’s be outraged that whoever did the betraying will probably get a book deal, a sitcom, trade recipes with Hoda and Kathie Lee, and soon appear on Celebrity Apprentice and Dancing with the Stars. Wiz kids move on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never thought the 'Zards would be DC's best playoff team, I'm so proud of them right now. Can't wait to see us take on ATL or the Pacers, it should definitely be an interesting series either way.

Looks for wizards post game coverage online, every headline about Sterling. *Sigh*

Hope that series goes 7 to give the Wiz kids some rest. I think we match up well with either of them. Atlanta spreads the floor well and Indy has the talent... but the Wizards have better talent than the former and Indy's been discombobulating. Can't look ahead to the ECF, however. One game at a time. Oh and Nene straight up abused the DPOY this series. |
Re: NBA Season 2013-2014
Here's my fear...and I wonder why people aren't talking about it. Chicago sorta sucks. They're a grind team with limited talent and a good coach. They literally have 2 guys who would play minutes for every other playoff team.

I was initially fearful of playing Chicago based on how they ended the season. They were the hottest team in the East after the break. After the second game, I started to realize how hard their starters were pushed during the regular season just to make the playoffs. Hats off to them for even getting to the playoffs, much less the 4th seed. The second round is not going to be that easy, whether it is Atlanta or Indy. But the way the Wiz are locking in defensively at the right time is huge. As long as there are no injuries, I'm pretty confident with the matchups. |

Thanks man. You guys are in your annual dogfight with Memphis. They're just a good matchup with your elite squad. |

I think that's more indicative of what they thought of the Zards more than anything. |
