Yes its big news, not denying that at all.
Big news is whatever the media decides it should be. Singled out.....big time......and you guys eat it up like whip cream on pie. Yes, Penn state was singled out because it made for an awesome story.
Keep diggin' |

Easiest way to get AW's dander up say something less then glowing about the military. As for losing faith, the military has a ton of flaws and is grossly over spent on, but in terms of the big three, media govt and military, I still have the most faith in the military. Most who go in are doing it and accepting that their life may be lost in defense of higher values. most politicians and media, imo, are first after there self glory, and national principles 2nd at best. |

Its not my fault if you are a media sheep. But whatever.....if you want to hang a Wolf Blitzer fathead in your living room its your right to do so.. |
Re: Has anyone else completely lost faith in the military?
This thread took a turn for the stupid. Set the emotional reactions aside and ask yourself whether there is any evidence that the cover ups happening in the military are happening more often than they happen elsewhere... At college fraternities, in high schools, in social circles, etc. now that light has been shined on it they better fix it, but the light needs to be shined on so many parts of society, the military is only a microcosm.

Of course it's a widespread issue across society. Doesn't matter where it happens, a scandal like this is still worth talking about, no? Or is it a non story as G2 suggests? I think someone is perhaps a little too biased to see the story for what it is. Sort of like the Penn St lifers who thought Joe Pa was an angel right to the bitter end. |

Has anyone else completely lost faith in the military?

True. But I don't think Matty was trying to compare it to other parts of society necessarily, just looking at the military alone. And, right or wrong, many have higher expectations of the military than they may have of other areas And what kind of moron puts any blame on the media for this? |

And what kind of moron puts any blame on the media for this?
I dont know? What kind? Are you calling me a moron? I have already stated I blame congress for creating the conditions. And read what I wrote on page three about not blaming the media. Unless you dont care what I write and want to creat your own version. |

That doesn't count as "any kind of blame"?
Yep, I'm blaming the media for hyping it. I'm not blaming the media for poor conduct in the military (which would be ludicrous), which is what this thread is about. |

I definitely agree. But the assertion in this thread that the military is just being singled out...as if to diminish the importance of dealing with the issue is absurd. I know AW isn't trying to sound like that but it really comes off as "Ehhh it happens everywhere so no biggie" |
