Re: Lorenzo Alexander
Ok so I was going to use an Alexander avatar because I felt he deserved it and I discovered no Alexander avatar's? wow. So I looked for Fletcher and only found like 2 avatars. Hmmmm. I think we need a couple more avatars. ;)

Methinks we'll need another one if a certain tight end steps up, should a concussion keep Cooley out. |
Re: Lorenzo Alexander
^Yeah him too. Maybe Torain also. and if AA continues to improve we might need one of his also.

Re: Lorenzo Alexander
Me thinks Alexander will be getting suspended a lot...
Along with Landry and Sellers Matter of fact, the way our Defense are hitting players... I'm seeing a lot of suspensions in the near future for our redskins players on Defense... Not because they lead with there helmet, but because they lay serious blows when they tackle and that will just be unacceptable to the League. There just too devastating... laugh now if you want.... But you won't be laughing when were playing a team in the wild card round without Landry and Lorenzo Alexander.... Gonna have Doughty back there covering people...sheeeesh |
Re: Lorenzo Alexander
They're talking mainly about head shots, and big hits on defenseless receivers, relax.
The hits we've seen from the likes of Alexander have been totally clean. |
Re: Lorenzo Alexander
from my understanding, its not just headshots or helmet-to-helmet hits - its any "violent" hit. I have no idea how it will be enforced fairly though. seems very subjective to me.

Re: Lorenzo Alexander
Clayton is talking on Mike & Mike..
He's now saying that it won't be just officials looking at game film after the fact and suspending players now..but that players will now be ejected during games if the hit is considered "devastating". Lets see how in favor some of you here are, when Landry,Alexander,Fletcher,Sellers or even Orakpo are ejected from the game at that instant for a devastating blow on a ball carrier. There not using "Intent" as there subjected view. Remember that..."as Clayton just said" I don't think some of you know how much this will change the game of football... If I felt that it would only be missle shots with leading with the helmet, that would get these flags, suspensions and fines..I would be fine with this... But this isn't the case or for 1st time offenders either... We shall see I guess.... |

He doesn't typically do helmet-to-helmet dirty shots. He leads with his shoulders into the chest of the opponent, uses good form most of the time. Sometimes he'll hit late, but they're solid, clean hits. [YT]X4_iiRu2wF8[/YT] I don't see any illegal hits here (headshots). All solid plays. |

That Patriots' hit in Heap this week is what they're targeting, that was dirty, and clearly an intentional headshot. Landry and Fletcher are two of the most-skilled tacklers in the league, we don't have to worry about them at all. This will affect the games of players like James Harrison and Hines Ward more. It's going to be like the Horsecollar Rule for Roy Williams for a few dirty players in the league. They'll have to play smarter or face the consequences. I really don't see anyone on our roster who plays dirty. Yes, this will make players have to be conscientious about how they hit people, but Haslett seems like the kind of coordinator who makes sure the players follow fundamentals...except for a lost cause like Carlos' hands. |
Re: Lorenzo Alexander
If someone takes a dirty shot that could paralyze a guy, I can see suspensions being in order. If Skins are guilty(which I don't see) then the same is true of them. These guys are bigger, faster and far more fine tuned then players 40-80 years ago, and purposeful dirty hits threaten lives, not just bones. I just hope they get a good process in place so that the decisions made are obvious and legitimate.
