I think having a questionable coach in Hixon may have slowed the development of the WRs here, and is partly responsible for Moss's "lapses", i.e giving up on the route in the Seattle playoff game, which in turn led to a TC pick.

Now with McCardell here, we could have two beasts in the making. Thomas could be even better than Brandon Marshall--Marhshall's 40-time is only 4.57--and Kelly could be right on par with him, or marginally better because he's likely a better route runner than Marshall.

I don't know about that. Marshall's hands are on a different level than Thomas's.

That Jerry Rice guy ran a 4.7, Thomas and Kelly will be better than him! They are bigger and stonger too!

Brandon Marshall is a 100 reception per year guy. He is unstoppable and an elite WR.

Thomas and Kelly are on par with Penny Marshall not Brandon Marshall.

That post was not about them being better. But of course, message board posters don't read sentences, they just look at the nouns in the sentences and then make their own sentences in their heads.

And actually, I read one report in which Shanahan was going get rid of Marshall in one way or the other during the 2008 offseason, but he got fired.

Devin, Don't worry about Marshall. You're not even as good as Eddie Royal or Brandon Stokley. Maybe we could bring in Freddy Mitchell so you can compete with someone on your level...

A great combination of speed and power.
Biggest one of all is being in incredible synch with his QB. They could complete a pass in the pitch black darkness. Meaning, they know exactly where they are going to be and the ball is thrown before the receiver makes the cut.
Incredible hands.
On a side note, I agree with Jamf, thomas and Kelly have not done squat.
Their time is running out and they better come in hitting on all cylinders in 2010. They need to do more thatn just catch a handful passes in a game. They need to start to show signs of dominating their opponents, something that has been seriously lacking and is worrisome for me as a Redskin fan.[/quote]

Okay, although you want all these things in a receiver, [COLOR="red"]SOME of these attributes[/COLOR] have nothing to do with being the #1 receiver. with this criteria, Randy Moss, Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison and other greats were not #1 receivers. I remember laughing my ass off watching a game where the 49ers were playing and it was muddy as hell and everyone looked like they were playing in the mud, but in the 4th quarter, after over 100 yards receiving, Jerry Rice's jersey was immaculate! He hadn't done a thing but make catches and go out of bouds or make touchdowns! He didnt' get tackled, throw blocks, do any reverses, or anything beyond catch and celebrate. Would it have been nice if he did? i guess so, but as long as he makes the big catches when needed. I mean, Art Monk is my favorite receiver of all time, but he was hardly the #1 guy. yeah, ht caught the tough passes up the middle, in traffic, and had perfect connections with ever QB that he had, but the number one guy was Gary Clark. Art was like Hines Ward. Not the fastest, but the toughest. Not the biggest threat, but changes the game just the same.

that's a great point...Defensewins has described someone, who, if they existed, would be the most complete wr/tight end/hb hybrid in the history of the game. You have to let some of that stuff go. I mean, how many players can you name who are "great" at the 1,2 and the slot?

#1- I like Marshall but I'm not giving up a 1st round draft pick for him. If they would except next years 2nd round draft pick I'd do it in a heart beat.

#2- There were a few WR's on the open market that could have been had with as much talent that would not have cost us a draft pick and the team didn't even make a play for them.

#3- You want a top tier WR now you might as well go after T.O. for a 2 year deal with a 1 year out claus in case he becomes a problem. Opposing teams still have to game plan around him because of his height and abilities even though they are deminishing. That would leave the other WR's one on one or atleast one person open. All JC has to do is be able to scan the field which is part of his problem. Not enough time and lack of ability to see the whole field.
