Re: JLC: Redskins Interested in Adam Carriker
he would play 3-4 DE. i liked him a lot coming out of college, but definitely hasnt lived up to expectations. would be wary about this for sure.
Like I mentioned before this could be something to the effect of signing a player with starting potential; if he doesn't start, we didn't put it all on him to start. If he's backup and healthy, you still look at him as starting potential at 2nd string. This is what we've wanted for awhile. The methods of acquiring depth and/or quality signings with injuries can be questioned, but it's still been acquiring guys that could be starter level vs definitely not. There are gradual roster cuts and NOBODY is exempt from them in a literal sense. |

no offense but your copy/pastes between threads are just rehashing your opinion over and over I respect that everyone has an opinion, some which may be more educated than others depending, but just reposting it over and over isn't the way to sell your point |
Re: JLC: Redskins Interested in Adam Carriker
Like I said, if we were to trade Carter, Carriker would not be my first choice. Maybe Carter for Alex Barron would be better? Or Carter for a second and a sixth pick only?
I'm not sure you get a 2nd for Carter alone, much less a 6th added |
Re: JLC: Redskins Interested in Adam Carriker
wow as someone on this board suggested maybe they make this move just to make the need for suh more tangible allowing bradford to drop to us..
|
Re: JLC: Redskins Interested in Adam Carriker
Is it a foregone conclusion Carter doesn't fit in a 3-4, or Hybrid or whatever the hell Haslett has in mind?
I ask because Carter has seemed to improve his run stopping over the last couple seasons. He weighs in about 253 which is obviously small for a 4-3 RDE but the dude is ridiculous strong and last season seemed to get lots of push even coming inside the LT. |

That seems like a lot of trouble for a huge uncertainty. Is it possible that Haslett just likes him a lot and thinks he will help the team? BTW we are sniffing anything near a #2 for Carter. Maybe a 4th if we are lucky. |

That seems low for someone who had like..11 sacks. I guess AH gets a lot of credit for that. |
Re: JLC: Redskins Interested in Adam Carriker
You have to look at the big picture with Carters' value. He's a 30 year old undersized DE, mostly a one trick pony who gets after the QB. He's had 3 double digit sack seasons in his career, but many more 4-6 sack type of seasons. And if teams see that he's not a good fit here and may end up being released anyway, why would teams want to give up very much for him?

Good point. |
Re: JLC: Redskins Interested in Adam Carriker
I do not see us doing a stright up trade with Carter for Carriker. Carter is a proving veteran player who has been productive most of his career. Carter is 30 but he takes care of his body and he does not miss games. Carriker is young and has potential but he has been injury prone thus far in his brief career. We better not give in draft picks, I could see us getting a 3rd or 4th rd pick with Carriker. Plus we are getting rid of Carters salary. How many years does Carriker have left on his rookie contract , will be a issue for us as well.

Damn, too bad is not a 4th rounder. |

That's about what I expected and i would be happy to get a 5th. Teams generally don't trade high draft picks for older players. |
