Re: What single factor is key for the Skins this year?
Jason Campbell is a huge piece to the puzzle, but just as many others have said, it all begins with health. No team in the NFL can win when their team is destroyed by injuries.
That is so frickin obvious I left it alone. I was under the impression that we were talking about players, coaches, offensive schemes, etc.. But duh, if everyone gets hurt then we have no team. Ultimately, if you Quarterback does not play well, and we need him to play well with all the new weapons we invested in during the draft, then your teams is screwed. Therefore, JASON CAMPBELL's PLAY IS THE KEY TO OUR SUCCESS! PERIOD. AGAIN! |

Yes the QB play is important, but there are 10 other guys on the field at the same time as Campbell. When adjusting to new offensive schemes, Campbell is a master, but if someone like Cooley (who is Campbells favorite target so far) goes down no one knows if Fred Davis can fill his role right away. Football is a team game. Yes, when teams do well they even make QB's like Rex Grossman look good. So, alot is on Campbells shoulders but he will get sacked if he don't have production, and the passing game won't work if Portis doesn't produce. Team Concept!!!! |
Re: What single factor is key for the Skins this year?
Zorn hands down. We do get in alot of close games and the last couple of years it looked like Joe was lost. We need proper leadership through those couple of games. First rule of coaching lead your team through what they think is an impossible situation and you will gain their respect for life.

I couldn't agree more; especially, the offensive line. If JC is given time, I think he will flourish. |
Re: What single factor is key for the Skins this year?
Offensive line play. If they play lights out, Portis will kick ass running out of more spread sets, allowing Campbell to have greater success in the passing game. If we're continually facing long down and distance situations, then we're toast.
The single factor that is key for the Skins this year is how many wins they have.
HaHa Im going to say the health of Clinton Portis. When healthy the offense seems to run so much better. He then in turn takes some pressure off JC. |

I dont think i've ever seen Rex Grossman look good. |
Re: What single factor is key for the Skins this year?
I can't decide between injuries, pass protection, or JC's play. As you said most factors are inter-linked. All of those 3 happen to be inter-linked.
I'd have to disagree, and Easterbrook is a moron.
Coaching has a huge affect on the game. Coaches can overcomplicate schemes, they can put players out of position (Archuleta), they can clash with each other on philosophy (Saunders vs Gibbs & Bugel), they can inspire a team (Gibbs' December record), etcetera. Most of all, coaching comes into play when a new system is being put into place. When you're running a new system, how you perform in year one is all about the ability of the coach to teach and translate the playbook message onto the field.
havent seen anyone spell etc. out in ages. |
Re: What single factor is key for the Skins this year?
Pressure without always blitzing and staying healthy. it sounds simple but we shall see

I think our Oline will be fine...our young depth has gotten better. With Heyer, Alexander. Rhinehart and a couple undrafted rookies....especially that guy from MD....I really think Buges can get them going....I just hope Buges stays 2 more years to help these guys develop. |
