Re: Rumor: Nate Clements to 49ers.
Holy shit. We signed Michael Lewis too.
Finally we have a hard hitting secondary again. Maybe Boldin and Fitzgerald won't rape us as bad this season. |
LOL what a joke, they can have him for that price.
He's no Champ, not even close. These contracts are going to be insane... buckle up.
There are NOT a dozen players in the NFL worth a 15 mill $$ signing bonus , they can have him . they may have a good D this year ,,, but that is crazy $$$ |
Re: Rumor: Nate Clements to 49ers.
maybe the media will jump all over the 49ers now and say they signed too many egos and shit.
i really think the 49ers spendind is outlandish, but mayb some of that is just jealousy |
Re: Rumor: Nate Clements to 49ers.
I could care less if we overspent. We had like 37 million dollars and we have to play Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, and Deion Branch twice every year. Let's get the best CB available.

look at what happened to the redskins
look at what happened to the redskins
Yeah but Nate Clements is actually elite. Some of the guys the Redskins over-paid for weren't even borderline elite, they were average or horrible.

For example? Please don't bring up 2000, that was 7 friggin years ago. |

I'll give you Archie. But we paid less in terms of salary and signing bonuses for BOTH Carter and Lloyd than you did for Clements. Carter looked really impressive down the stretch and Lloyd is a big question mark. And, I'm not talking about you Rexi, but I'm tried of hearing how the Redskins overaid this guy or that guy from some idiot on the TV who doesn't know squat. The Redskins developed a reputation for overpaying players after 2000, justifiably so. However, since 2000 our FA "spending sprees" have not been nearly as bad as people make them out to be. In fact, the only big signings I can I regret in the past few years are for (1) Jeremiah Trotter and (2) Adam Archuleta. Yet these morons in the press keep saying how we overpaid for this player of that player. Some examples: (1) We were told that we overpaid for Laveraneus Coles ($13M SB) when NO ONE criticized the Falcons for giving basically the same deal to Peerless Price. Coles went to the Pro Bowl and eventually was traded for Santana Moss. Where is Peerless now? (2) We were told that we overpaid for Randy Thomas ($7M SB). The deal doesn't look so bad when you consider what guards, just a few years later, are getting paid and that Thomas is one of the best guards in the league. (3) We were told we overpaid for Cornelius Griffin ($8M SB), who was allegedly an underachieving washout from NY. Griffin has turned out to be one of the best players on our defense. (4) We were told that we overpaid for Marcus Washington ($8M SB), who also turned out to be a Pro Bowler and one of the best OLBs in the league. I could go on and on with such examples. |

Walt Harris couldn't cover Boldin or Fitzgerald if his life depended on it. Clements and his agent are in line after them in the 49er rape line. He isn't worth anywhere near 80 million. It is funny what happens when it is perceived that the Redskins want a player. Other teams break the bank. Nice one Nolan! |

I think Clements is really only going to make 7.5 per year or something. Not bad for an elite corner, especially with the WR's is our division.

Re: Rumor: Nate Clements to 49ers.
The 49ers are becoming the Redskins of the west... looks like they're trying to take our title of the offseason champs.

Harris had one of the best seasons I've seen a corner have in a while. And you are an idiot if you think Clements is actually going to get 80 million. Try 1/4 of that, if the math isn't too difficult for you. |

Why don't we wait and see if these signings have no positive effect on the record before being compared to the Redskins or the Cardinals. |
