As much as I would love to get hyped about how we play in preseason, I can't allow myself too. The preseason and the regular season are two completely different seasons. Even the speed of the game is different. With all that said, it's nice to see us not stink up the joint in our first preseason game, but again, this game means nothing. All it is is a informative teaching session for the coaches.

Did he prove the hatters wrong with his groin strain on the sidelines? Was it proved with yoga? pilates? P90X?
I'd like to see our starters get more snaps than usual this pre-season. Seeing as how they lost every OTA and three weeks of camp I think every opportunity they have to get on the field and actually work with the systems in full pads is critical. Everyone else can do the typical light load for starters but I think the right move is to use them MORE. I'd love to see them play the whole half next week and deep into the second half after that. In the fourth I'd even give them a half.
I have no issue with Shanahan playing his projected starters an entire half. But the problem is that he can't make the opponent do the same, and the evaluation becomes meaningless against non-competition. I wish all teams would go a half with their starters in the preseason, but some teams are more top-heavy than others.

For the first time, I don't think the Redskins qualify as top-heavy. The second team defense may have flat outplayed the first team, particularly in the defensive secondary. Hard for me to make that claim because the Steelers played their third team in the second half and their second team offense is actually quite good, but if for some week DHall, Wilson, Horton, and Doughty were all unavailable, I don't think we'd have much of a drop-off with the next four guys up.

Last year, the year before that, and the year before that we looked mediocre against 1st, 2nd and 3rd stringers. Our first drive against the majority of the Steelers 1st team looked good and our defense looked okay. I take a good overall effort by the team any day over not being able to put up any points like KC did today against the Bucs.

Beck looks really good in his new uni. But that's because no. 12 is only the greatest number of all time.

I think he proved it by being in full uniform with his helmet on in the fourth quarter looking like he was ready to go even though he wasn't playing. His whole stance said "put me in coach, I'm ready to go."
Hey don't get me wrong, I'm always happy to see the Redskins win, but all those things our starters did, let's not get ahead of ourselves and remember that we really couldn't manage more than a 7-7 tie with our 1's playing their 2's during most of the first half. I would hope our starters would look good playing backups.

But I agree, it's nice to see some positive changes when compared to last year. I'm stoked about Hightower. Dude's a baller.
Considering our previous experience with the Steelers im happy if we can compete with the 2nd string. :food-smil

Beck reminds me of a Jack-Russell that really wants to go outside and pee, but can't get out the storm door.

But the big issue here is it's week one of the preseason. If you're not healthy now, then...when?
