Terry isn’t going to sit out a game or season.
Do we agree on that?
Isn't? I wouldn't put a bet on at this stage. Shouldn't? Be dumb if he did? Possibly Torpedoing his career? Yes. |
Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
Terry's choices are limited.
choice 1: don't take AP's best/final offer and play out this year for $19million not guaranteed, hope he exceeds last year, and stays healthy. Then hope we don't use the FT and he gets a similar or better deal than AP's final offer with his desired guarantees. or choice 2: take AP's best and final offer and pocket between $50 and 58Million guaranteed. It's not rocket science to know which option he will choose, and it's not that hard to understand that he is holding out to the last minute to find out what AP's last/best offer really is. to state the obvious: choice one would be stupid because if he's healthy and exceeds last year we are definitely FT'ing him so his max from choice 1 is 49million with serious downside risk of less playing time/injury I don't think Terry is stupid so I am not worried that he will sign and be on the roster for game 1. Actually that is a pretty strong word, especially when you don't know exactly what's happening between both parties. You are literally judging Terry based on rumors... |
Agree that Terry is a smart player, but he is not being to smart in his negotiations right now . . . delusional would be a better word.
Strongly disagree. TM has handled this as professionally as possible while still holding his negotiating position.
IF he doesn't sign before the season I may re-evaluate, but all accounts show he has maintained positive relationships with teammates, coaches, and even the front office. He has every right to state his position and his justifications, that doesn't mean he is delusional. Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |

all delusional means is that his beliefs are far off base with reality . . . and when it comes to his worth, he is 100% delusional!! |
Re: Give me your best Terry Contract

I don't think he is, I think he's one of the smartest players in the NFL.
There is a possibility, however slim. He's taking advice from somewhere, almost certainly his agents, that he can get what he's asking for, or close to it. The reality is a lot of voices are saying he won't get it and AP has no issue playing hardball with him. I think and I hope he's smart enough to listen to those other voices too and be honest with himself. But he's listened to these guys for months and nothing so far says he is definitely willing to change his mind. He is probably playing brinkmanship, I'm just not yet prepared to bet on him not being an idiot. This could and should have been put to bed already to the benefit of both parties. |

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
Terry isn’t going to sit out a game or season.
Do we agree on that?
I doubt it, but nothing would surprise me at this point. Peters and the team have all the leverage in this situation. He would have a lot more if he was 4 years younger. If he sits out games, it's an ego thing with him moreso than a money thing. He would be very wise to suit up. |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes exactly. KK was quoted as saying he needs his guys yesterday. Clearly a McLaurin reference. Hopefully a new contract soon that all sides can agree on. He'd forfeit around 861k a game for not playing this year. |
Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
Hoping it’s a sign of this getting resolved and not just a way for the team to pressure Terry and creating more tension. I have to imagine it is the former as they’d be communicating with him about it for sure.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
This is a purely hypothetical trade question - I still expect Terry to sign an extension BUT would you consider this trade:
Miami gets: Terry BRob We get Tyreek Hill (contract til 2026 currently 31) Conditional 4th next year Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |

This article seems to be goosing a "self-fulfilling prophecy" for the McLaurin side. I'm not sure there is anything new and substantive here ... |

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
Terry wants to be paid in the Top 5, hence the reason for no deal. There will be no deal and he’ll come crawling back and play out his final year and depart. I don’t expect him to be as effective, as he’ll be disgruntled. Also, wouldn’t shock me if he’s injured for part of the year. He’ll depart in the offseason and we’ll draft his replacement in 26. I’d sign Armani Cooper; whether Terry gets a new contract or not. We need better WR and Armani still has a little left in the tank.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
anyone saying Terry will play without an extension is implicitly stating:
1) Terry is pennywise, pound foolsh 2) Terry puts pride over reality 3) Terry is willing to risk his future wealth over a value dispute of around 20% I don't believe any of those statements are true. The truth is Terry is a very intelligent player who understands the risks of football, and the business of football. For Terry to step on the field for even one play risks an injury that kills any future value. Even $50Million guaranteed is equivalent of the max he can earn (unguaranteed) for the next two years between this year's salary and the franchise tag value that Terry ultimately would collect if he stays healthy without an extension. Ultimately deadlines spur deals, Terry has had no reason to step on the field without an extension that he wants during preseason but that calculus changes with the loss of about $900k per game. He made his protest game against Cincy which cost him $0, missing any regular season game going forward desn't give him more value only increasingly less. Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |
Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
I’d tell Terry , accept our final offer or he can play out his final year.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract
Every morning I wake up (Pacific time) and open my phone in the hopes that a deal has been announced. Alas.... I do feel like this is getting to the point at which it will affect the season, even if a deal is reached. We have very little time left and has hasn't practiced a snap. I know he's a stud athlete and knows the offense, but there will be new stuff, new skills players along side him, etc. -- let's get this frigging done already.

Signing an extension is not caving, it's smart business. Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk
By caving, I mean he drops his rumored demand of 33+ million and accepts the rumored Top offer of 28 million, from the team. So, he would be caving in from his demands. If a Deal happens in the next 2 weeks; then Terry is the one who has to back off from what his demands. The team isn’t going up their offer. They know he’s under contract for this year and if they really want him back, can franchise him next year. So, they are sticking to whatever their top offer was. I see Terry gambling by just coming in and playing and not taking the team’s offer and gambling he can get his deal next year. I believe Terry really wants money close to what he asking for. Could I be wrong? Sure, but he would have signed a deal by now; if that was the case. |

McLaurin could be out at Week 14, and people will still be like this is good, just business. Got em right where we want him. Safe to say, won't be drafting McLaurin in any fantasy football league this season.
