Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
I'll take his motor running any day. He is a year two player consistently getting double teamed and even a triple from time to time as if he is a perennial pro bowl vet.

Why is Jon Allen getting the sacks, watch the film Chase is drawing the extra chips and doubles on that side, opening up JA to get in the backfield.

I hear what you are saying .. but dang if he is being double or triple teamed we need to find out why the other 10 guys can’t win that matchup .. |

Did you see my post about Jon Allen? He already has 3 sacks on the year. Thursday, we had 4 sacks. The problem is on the explosive plays. Particularly the D Jones run, which wasn't on Chase or the Dline, but on Collins. J |

To be fair, there was a 2 play sequence where Chase got burnt for a big gain - can't remember who - but the next play they ran the read option where Jones directly read Young - then fake handed the ball off to Barkley who CY99 bit hardddddd on - while Jones sprinted for a nice gain directly in the hole that CY99 vacated. This is shit from last year that they got burnt on and now they have to learn all over to display a little patience on the hand off to figure out who's taking the ball on the RPO. Good defenses know how to play the RPO. |
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
Yeah after 20 games with the team, CY has had maybe 3 games where you say “ok that’s why he was the #2 pick” I’m starting to worry this guy isn’t that great
|
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
Yep...

I'm starting to worry that he just isn't very good. No adjustments. The only time you see him is if you focus on him on a play and watch him get stonewalled. |
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
It’s frustrating for sure
Sophomore slump ? Idk IMO I trade him now while stock is still somewhat high |
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
If they got an offer of 2 #1s for him I would be tempted now, wasn't the case before, thought he was a franchise cornerstone going forward. Still wouldn't flip him for less than that

I'm worrying if he's even going to be a solid player at all or truly just Jadaveon Clowney 2.0.

Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
People saying CY is getting double or even triple teamed, really when ? I just see him getting tossed around one on one

He’s not, he just has no pass rush moves.. |

Is he getting doubled and tripled-teamed every play? Not at all. But I have seen him getting chipped by a back or tight end, as well as getting doubled by a lineman. |
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
Yesterday I didn't see him get doubled teamed or even chipped. He just did his best Ryan Kerrigan and rushed himself right out of the play. Every time! Dude has no moves.
|
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
zero sacks in 3 games, that's pathetic
|
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
That is the oddest thing, first snap of preseason he showed a counter move and destroyed the Patriots starting left tackle. So he does have counter moves. Big question is why is he not using them now? Scheme?
|
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
The scheme is more for the backend, the pass rush dictates our DBs in a big way.. If we don't get sacks we cant stop anyone. CY and Sweat have been ass
|
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
Rams had more sacks yesterday against a damn good o line than CY will have all year. We are such a dumpster fire year after year. Lol

Just trying to figure out why Chase was pushing so far on the outside and not making a counter to the wide open inside lane. Makes no sense, he has shown he can do it. Were the ends instructed to stay on the outside to contain Josh Allen from scrambling around the edge? The really frustrating thing here is it makes no sense from a player or coaching perspective that they are that bad. It is really difficult to rationalise what we are seeing |
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
Sheehan said on the radio that last year some DL guys were arguing w the coaching staff on hand moves and placement.
I dont remember hearing that last year. You lose in ugly fashion, dirty laundry gets aired. Chase has all the tools to be elite. Knee jerk reaction to label him a bust or should be traded while he still has value. First sign of problems ... he sucks, lets trade him? |

Yeah, but as a team they have 6 sacks. More than the Packers, Colts, Dolphins, Steelers, Chargers, Ravens, Chiefs, Jaguars, Buccaneers (and Cowboys & Eagles who play tonight). It's a team game. They just aren't playing complementary football right now. Can't put it all on the D-line or Chase. |

Watson balled out when Bill O'Brien dismantled the team the last season he played with the Texans. Tampa Bay had all that talent and it took Brady to make them a playoff/SB contender. This coaching staff has a lot to work on, but we'd be foolish to think that a QB like Watson would not make a difference. We'd be 2-1 with a player like Watson. |

Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
Folks need to chill the fuck out on the Chase criticism. JDR and Ron need to change some things up.
I still see a lot depth issues in zone and handoffs. Josh Allen moving outside the pockets to extend plays was a big problem yesterday. Fuller tho…he got destroyed by Beasley yesterday. This isn’t working out him in the slot. |

Teams plan different. Watson isn’t making us better than SD or Buffalo. Not with these three bozos on our sideline. Im not opposed to Watson at all, but we are not a quarterback away as was once thought. Unfortunately. My main concern for this teams future is a new coaching staff. Period. You wanna bring in Watson with a competent staff I am all for it. |

Unfortunately, this type of thinking is what leaves us stuck with Taylor Heinecke or Fitzpatrick. At some point, you need to take a leap to get a QB. And this mindset of building building building, won't get you anywhere. Heinecke is a nice feel good story, but a good QB, let alone an elite QB like Watson makes a ton of difference. |
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
If all of the legal issues got resolved today and NFL announced Watson was suspended for all of 2021-2022, and could play starting 2023, I'd trade our 1st round pick for him this year (if a contract was worked out prior to trade). He would still only be 27 or 28 and could be our starter for another 5-8 years.

I'm pretty sure the Texans would still be stubborn and would still be asking for some ridiculous price. Right now they are basically paying $10 million to sit inactive each game. |

Scott's offense with Watson under center will be improved. The weak points of our O in order is: 1. TH 2. Oline 3. turner TH is not a full time nfl qb by any means |
Re: Welcome to DC Chase Young!
Watson or a franchise quality QB1 is the Keystone this franchise arch is missing.
Once that stone is placed then start building the other stones around it but to try to build the arch with out the keystone first nothing locks in or holds together. |

And our crappy defense would look elite compared to what Detroit had during Stafford's time there. |
