Some of you guys are hilarious. Smith can’t play? Colt McCoy could put up the same numbers? Freaking out over paying a top 10 QB $23.5M a year? Come on now.
Colt can make accurate throws with 10 yards of the line, and he can run around. That's Smith isn't it? |

Colt has a much, much higher turnover rate. |
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
Fuller? Really? That puts a damper on the mood.
|
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
This trade is another in poor decisions from Bruce Allen and dan Snyder. I can’t believe we continue to do stupid shit year after year.
|
Re: Redskins Trade for Alex Smith
I still like it. I think Fuller is a good player but we have depth at the CB. Alex Smith is a smart qb, doesn't make redzone mistakes. This is a ultimately a good move. Plus now the team can move forward with fixed numbers at qb.
|
Re: Redskins Trade for Alex Smith
I don’t like giving up Fuller but the Skins had to come strong with several teams interested in dealing for Smith. Who knows what other offers were possibly in play.
|
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
Damn, Fuller was a young hog for us this year. That's too bad. Wish him nothing but the best.
Breeland was rated very high in the slot. Maybe he's coming back now. Either way, I see a CB in the top 2 or 3 rounds in the draft. As good as he was, QB is gonna cost some good shit on the trade market. We're not starting over next year now. Hell, we can even use the extra cap space to sign Fullers replacement, if no Breeland either. Still like the trade. Be interesting to see how Cousins fairs next season. |

Fueller says its not him.

Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
Is the player to be named actually named to a small circle or is it still being negotiated? I've always wondered that. You see this in baseball a lot.

Re: Redskins Trade for Alex Smith
Funny to note that Smith is a McLoughan guy. Hmmm[emoji848]
Influence still in the building? |
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
I’m trying to consider our alternatives, which were shitty. Cousins didnt want to be a Redskin, so keeping him would have required a tag. Not an acceptable solution.
Colt and a rookie? Not an acceptable solution. Bridgewater coming off a knee? Bradford? Fragile his whole career. I hate giving up Fuller, that’s a valuable piece. But if you asked me if I’d rather give Fuller and a 3rd for Smith, or go for one of these other bad options, I think I’d take Alex Smith. Here’s why: Smith INTs the last three years, 5, 8, 7. Cousins, 13, 12, 11. Smith’s fumbles 2, 7, 4. Cousins, 13, 9, 9. |
Re: Redskins Trade for Alex Smith
Let’s hope “sources” jumped the gun on Fuller.
|
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
Grant Paulsen tweeted that he’s been told it’s not Fuller.

Re: Redskins Trade for Alex Smith
Inside the 10 half of Smith's passes were TDs. KC was 1 in 3. Smith had 5 ints none in the red zone. KC had 3 in the red zone alone. Gruden can win with Smith.
|
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
By the way, an unappreciated piece of this news, it frees us to apply the tag to someone else. Increases the chances we can retain Zach Brown.

Maybe a trade for someone like McCarron I could have lived with too. I’m not a Bridgewater fan at all, Bradford’s injuries rule him out for me too. McCoy? Absolutely not. Honestly I wasn’t even thinking seriously about Smith. |

Agree. The difference is mobility. Kelce and Reed, equal red zone targets. Even if you excuse Cousins for games when Reed didn’t play, the red zone numbers are still better. |

I will be interested to see if going to a new team and presumably a long term deal helps him by reducing outside pressures |

Yes this was definitely a personality thing. He struggled in Week 1 and Week 2 games too, it’s like he needed to get his feet wet to feel fully comfortable. |
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
It looks like it is Fuller after all. He tweeted that he hasn’t been told so he’s trying to find out what’s going on.
But Schefter and Rap Sheet continue to report it. |
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
Damn dude. We have got to be the worst team at trading.
|
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
This trade looks like a Snyder and Allen smokescreen to cover up their failure with Cousins. While we trade a 3rd and ?someone? for very good QB Alex Smith, meanwhile Cousins walks with at best a 3rd or so comp pick for us?
Getting an older cheaper QB that his old team apparently was dumping anyways (for Patrick Mahomey), doesn't seem like a recipe for success. Smith is underrated, he's better than a "checkdown Charlie" type player, but not the long ball threat Cousins is. Guess since our only deep threat WR can't hold on to the ball, this isn't an issue? lol. :laughing- :saywhat:  :crying- |
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
How the fuck do we give up the best slot corner in the game for an old qb?
Fuller was an impact player for us. |

Re: Redskins Trade for Alex Smith
Corners like Fuller are uncommon. If it is Fuller, this sucks. I can think of a number of guys I’d rather part with - stating with Cravens. But Fuller would be a terrible deal for us.

Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
I think.. I may be done.. I think the dysfunction has officially gotten to the point I physically just can't do it anymore. I've been there for 35 years.. man I may just be done with football. Maybe an opportunity to get a day of my life back. I just can't give my life to Allen's bullshit anymore

Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Given Smith is going from the 10-6 Chiefs to here, and we still suck both sides of the ball (except for QB last season and hopefully now), I'd expect a short honeymoon on both sides. Hope Smith's contract has a lot of guaranteed money for his sake. |
Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
3rd and Cravens: ok trade
3rd and Fuller: we got robbed I’m losing my shit. |
Re: Redskins Trade for Alex Smith
I wouldn’t have traded Fuller for Smith straight up. Hope I’m proven wrong this upcoming season.

Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith
This team writes the book on how not to handle the qb position. I thought the coup de grace was a dumbshit contract but it wasn’t...it was fuller. Complete and utter incompetence from Bruce and Danny again.
Piss poor...I’m so sick of these dumb fucks. |
