I just hope the NBA can win the fight in court to get him kicked out. I think it's gonna be a tough battle, we know Sterling will fight tooth and nail to keep the team. |

I think it was Jon Stewart who said the other night, "why even bother to secretly record Sterling? Just invite him on prime time tv and place a microphone in front of him; he's more than willing to saying horrible things in front of a massive audience." |
Re: NBA Season 2013-2014
Good run while it lasted... I think the series is a great learning experience for the young guns. Beal really had a consistent series, so it was fun to watch him grow. Wall had some crucial turnovers in key moments throughout- aside from Game 5, his shot was off (since Chicago really)... but hopefully he'll resume his regular season smarts in future playoffs even if his shot is off.
Don't re-sign Ariza for too much... dude was lighting it up at certain points throughout the season and has shown excellent perimeter defense. But Beal's going to need a re-up in a few years and I think Otto needs some burn. The team will take a step back with his growing pains, but it's better for the long term. |

I was sooooo excited when Beal ripped the ball away from Hibbert and drilled that three to put us ahead. A few minutes later, not so much. But it was a great year and some nice payoff for being a Bullets fan since as far back as I can remember (I'm 37). I agree it will be tough if we lose Ariza, he played out of his mind this year, but with Webster and Porter on the books the next few years, we can't afford to go crazy on an Ariza contract and spend so much of our cap on one position. I'm willing to pay Gortat a bit more, since bigs are generally harder to come by and we don't have any real talent at the 5 if he were to leave (Nene plays better at the 4). Everyone's been praising Ernie for putting this team together, but I'm withholding my praise until I see what he's able to do this off-season. Should be exciting. |

Everyone's been praising Ernie for putting this team together, but I'm withholding my praise until I see what he's able to do this off-season. Should be exciting.
I agree. I think some of his successful moves were to fix bad ones. He lucked out fixing the Eric Maynor debacle when Andre Miller beefed with his Denver coach. Drew Gooden hung around at just the right time when Nene made his annual trip to the injured list. Trading for Nene was half about eliminating McGee's brainfarts. In fact, retooling the roster was based around getting rid of his own past picks- Swaggy P, Andray Blatche and McGee. The foundation of this team (the backcourt) was a product of just not screwing up the good fortune a number 1 and 3 picks gives you. I do give Grunfeld props for turning Okafor's injury into Gortat, however. |
Re: NBA Season 2013-2014
As a Piston fan who isn't betting I have no dog in the fight, except I don't want to see a Heat 3 peat. Glad to see Indiana come to play today, wonder if they can sustain it. I cannot remember any NBA play-offs where the road teams have done as well as this year.

Woohoo! Now let's see you do this again, Indy.
Hopefully SA wins their matchup tomorrow(technically, today). And...1,000 posts, b******. |

San Antonio puts the whup-ass on OKC!
Serge Ibaka missing is going to hurt OKC pretty bad. But I'm in no way sleeping on that team; 2012 Conference Finals are still very much on my mind. |

They need to ban Cleveland from ever having the #1 pick again. It's not like they are going to keep their stars. First it's LBJ that left, and next up is Irving. Who the hell believes they'll be able to keep a Wiggins around in 5 years?...lol I guess the NBA is looking out for the Cavs since LBJ ditched them on national TV. |

Also, glad to have the Hornets back. Too bad MJ is still the owner. :(

2 billion for the Clippers?....lol Talk about overpaying. When you are worth 20 billion, I guess it doesn't really matter. |
Re: NBA Season 2013-2014
OKC is getting their asses stomped again. They need to make some changes on that team. I'd ship out Westbrook and bring in a true PG along with another guy who can score.

So SA vs MIA again; Snooze. The NBA is such horse shit now a days how anyone can watch is beyond me. I rather watch WWE and have a better feeling it was not all scripted.

preach. i like watching indy but okc, san antionio and miami are stale. NBA just is not quality anymore, the league imo is at *another* all time low. And its because I could guess these 4 team would be here right now in this position. The crazy thing, these arent watchable games. They are not close, competitive games. I would never pay to go to a playoff game for nba College basketball >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NBA. Its not close |

They need to learn how to play defense. You give up more than 60 in a half multiple times it isn't because of Westbrook. They didnt even beat Memphis when Westbrook went out. This series sucks... Both teams play no defense on the road. OKC is most likely going to blow out SA tomorrow and then Maybe game 7 will be close. Also NBA officiating has to be the worst of any sports league. The fix has always been in. Since the MJ days, then Kobe/spurs then of course the mighty heat. |

The entire East was a joke this year. Only respectable team is Miami. How do you end up being behind by 40 points with your season on the line. |
Re: NBA Season 2013-2014
Well, it sounds like not many of you are excited about these Finals, but I am. Even as a Rockets fan first and foremost. :D
Who you got winning? I'd love the Spurs to, and I think they are better than they were last year, but I just can't see them taking it. Going with Heat in 6 games. Think Leonard will do a good job against LeBron, but in the end Miami's just better. Parker being limited will definitely factor in as well. |
Re: NBA Season 2013-2014
San Antonio in 6. Manu gets revenge for playing awful. Unless the NBA wants Lebron to be the current Michael, then Miami in 6.

I figured he'd get around 12. I'd hold off on overpaying Ariza.
i agree but Martell Webster back issue has comeback and he will be out for awhile. IMO i rather pay Ariza 8.5 mil per than overpay Lou Deng who effing sux. I was hoping for a shorter deal with maybe a team option for a fifth year, but 12 per is about right for Gortat in this division. Remember, Hibbert is making like 14.9 this upcoming season, al jefferson like 13.5, and chris bosh 11.5(but will increase yearly to like 15 mil per in his newly signed 5 year contract) I thought for sure we were going G Monroe over Gortat...rather have more of a power guy than a finesse guy down low all day. |

You're right about Webster- but it's time to throw Otto into the fire. He was the #3 pick (albeit in a weak draft) and he'll never get better without burn. The team would definitely take a step back at the 3 position in the short term, but Ariza's next contract is going to be for at least four years... I know Wall wants him back, but our FO can't become the Lakers and placate the star player just because. Agreed on Gortat over Monroe. Gortat's older, but his mileage isn't as high as other players his age. I think we'll have him during his prime years. |

Contract estimates are getting crazy this offseason. Gordon Hayward is about to get maxed by the Cavs!

I see a lot of soft down low in the east which works to our advantage. I would like to see maybe Chris Anderson, or even a Kendrick Perkins on a one year deal to come off the bench and just bring a little toughness to go with miller on that second unit. Ernie made a mistake offering seraphine and not booker on that option. Seraphine was a disappointment last year |

Hayward is, in my opinion, probably the best SF no one is talking about. Doesn't mean I'd give him the max though. He's the perfect complimentary piece. I hesitate to offer max deals to anyone but top players |

I'd had heard the celtics really wanted hayward with the obvious connection. No way is that guy a max deal type. I rather give chandler parsons that money. Hayward is a turnover machine and really didn't shoot it that great. Max guys can carry teams, like u said Hayward is a complimentary player. I'd like him as a third option, but sometimes he can get all Jeff green on you. |
