Not me.. He said 5 years. Our two biggest offensive threats are out of the game, and 2 pro bowlers on defense. Every team has injuries and that's understandable. Although, every team isn't the Redskins who were put in obliterated depth issues from previous false moves in the front office before Shanny got here. Not making excuses for the guy, but I don't assume we should be winning games with most of our play makers on the bench. |
Re: Skins/Panthers post game
At the very least Haslett has to go. The 3-4 defense has not worked for us. I know a lot of you will say its because we don't have the right personal for it. The defense is worse this year than last year. Some of it can be contributed to injuries but a bigger portion of the blame belongs to the coaches. The 3-4 has to go at the end of the season as well. We should've not gone to the 3-4 in the first place. The whole secondary needs to be replaced but it will take a few years - lack of draft picks and thanks to that a-hole Mara.... Don't get me started on the offensive side.. KS has got to go as well, and D Smith too.... I have never liked MS as a coach either but after today - throwing in the towel - publicly - makes me like him even less. If we lose the rest of the games I would fire him..............

Are you a head coach in the NFL? How do you know how long it takes? If that's the case.. Then we wouldn't be looking back at the last 20 years with our face in the mud. You are the disease that put this team in the shape it's in now.. You are the disease that pays Snyder to go watch Albert Haynesworth in a Skins jersey, and Jason Taylor. I'm tired of the dumb dumb, but I am not defending Shanny.. He was handed the keys of a VOLVO and asked to win the Indy 500. So yes, I do think it takes more then 3 years to rebuild a franchise.. The season is halfway through... I don't wan't to hear about Indy, and these other teams. Season isn't over, and they could very well lose out. No other team has the injuries we do.. If anyone can name me one team that is winning without there #1 WR, #1 TE (who is the leading receiver on the team) #1 pass rusher, both starting safeties, and has a rookie QB/RB in the backfield... Not to mention that our change of pace back who contributed A LOT last year for us is on the IR. This is not a formula for success in the NFL. It just isn't.. I swear man, if I wasn't so loyal to the Redskins.. I would stop liking the Redskins just because I can't stand the freaking fan base. Edit: Halfway drunk.. Grammar is rough most likely. |

Re: Skins/Panthers post game
This is the first chance I got to post. The Redskins should not have lost a winnable game to a sorry 1-5 team by 8 points at home. The Redskins defense hasn't been this bad since Mike Nolan was the DC. I don't know where to place the blame. Is the problem Haslett? Is it Raheem Morris who coaches the secondary? Is it the personnel of the secondary? I think people who are saying the 3-4 defense is the problem is not paying enough attention. Three down linemen and 4 linebacker alignment isn't the problem. The 3-4 defense was working great last season so there is proof that it works. If the Redskins have backslid, it's not the 3-4 defense to blame.
Atogwe was released and Landry was allowed to become a free agent. Even though Atogwe battled injuries last season, he was still a solid performer. Meriweather hasn't seen the light of day of the football field this year. Knowing that Tanard Jackson had violated the NFL's substance abuse policy before, why the f*#*% would Shanahan sign this junky to a contract? Jackson is on suspension. The Redskins could have kept Atogwe and the results, although mixed last season, would surely been better this year. But the Redskins are working with trash players in the secondary. I'm not even going to get started on Josh Wilson or DeAngelo Hall. |

Re: Skins/Panthers post game
Im sure the D would have held them out.

Re: Skins/Panthers post game
HA! So true.
I mean when that one ref missed that call a year or two back that ended up DIRECTLY in the loss of the other team, the policy was all, "Well, they have to stick with their decision." The whistle thing especially pisses me off because it's supposed to be a dead ball no matter what when a whistle blows is it not? Basically look at the tape, see where the runner was when the whistle was blown, spot the ball there. Easy peezy lemon squeezy. |
Re: Skins/Panthers post game
well, we knew the regular refs were going to be perfect once they came back. dropping f bombs on live tv, blowing phantom whistles, wonder what next week holds.

 Yup...after the blown call I was really angry for about 3 seconds, then the thought above came to mind. I had the same thought after the Cruz TD. By the time he was salsa-ing I was already over it. It's actually quite therapeutic. |
In life, in sports, in business...the stats, the numbers don't lie. Regardless of how we feel about Shanahan, about replacing him, about 'starting over, this and that...lets not judge on opinion, lets judge based on fact...does Mike's record indicate success, mediocrity or failure? Based on the RECORD; that's how he should be judged...period.
Sometimes it isn't that simple. Yes, he's a two time Super Bowl winning HC. But I remember another 2 time Super Bowl winning HC that didn't cut it in Carolina years later. His name was George Seifert. Seifert was a great coach with the 49ers but the Panthers cut ties with him after a losing season in 2001. Sometimes a coache's legacy doesn't mean anything. It's the NFL after all. |
