Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
I believe this guy John Keim was on sports radio 910 yesterday. He mentioned that Banks has some off the field issues...attitude type stuff. The coaching staff doesn't want to make a long committment to this guy and don't be suprised if he doesn't get cut. Really surprising b/c i've never heard it before.
But yes i'd guess Paul or Austin for that last spot. Paul is known as a special teams standout right? KR? Moss, Gaffney, Armstrong, Hankerson, and Paul I'm guessing.
Yeah my boss was talking about this today. Apparently Banks has a big attitude, i never saw him as that type of guy before either. I think SS alluded to that a incident may have happened with Banks that we dont know about, in addition to the stabbing thing. Maybe it was his locker-room attitude. And although i think kickoff returners are now significantly less important i agree with Buster that punt returns is where he needs to be a weapon at. Although I was more impressed with his punt return then his kick returns there’s a much more important duty when returning punts; making sure you don’t drop it…. which banks has had a little bit of trouble with. I say if he drops one kick off or one punt in the pre-season hes gone. Either way I think hes on the outside looking in and is gonna have to have a bunch of nice returns, no drops, and one TD return or doesn’t make it. He was the funnest thing to watch on the team last year and I hope he makes it, just not sure at what cost. |
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
I mean the thing is, guys like Brandon Banks probably don't get as far as they do without some attitude. I mean he's five-foot-nothing a hundred nothin...but he does have a lot of athletic ability

Yeah but have you heard anything about his attitude from your sources? I mean he seemed more confident and determined then cocky. |
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Him specifically, no not anything that's probably worth worrying about. But...he may want to reconsider the company he keeps

Hard to argue with that. |
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Waiting to see Jabar Gaffney and Fred Davis own
|
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
I want to see the Sex Cannon throw the deep ball to Armstrong...against Steeler's 1st D.
How long do you think they will keep Rex in the game? @Skinzwin: You should have it. Its on CBS down here on the peninsula. |
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
I believe Rex will probably play the whole 1st half
|

good |
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Never been this excited for a QB to be starting since Mark Brunell. And i'm not joking either.
Rex is seriousl gonna change people's opinions of him this season, and I hope the top brass are sensable and sign him to a 3-4 year extension while we can groom a QB for the future. |
I believe Rex will probably play the whole 1st half
Does that mean no one worse then Sean Locklear will play the whole 1st half up front? I mean I'm intrigued to see the Knives salesman as much as the next guy but not with a potential starting QB back there. |
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Not sure how much Locklear will even play today
|
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Alright Skins, let's see what you got!

Savvy ST coordinators will take advantage of the rule. |

Probably by Week four of the season, a number of teams will be using directional strategies on kickoffs.
And you'll need a good return man to force other teams to kick touchbacks to get even decent field position. I expect leaguewide points scored to decrease significantly this season. |

Lol, that reminds me of that mis-subtitled Hitler scene from the underground. "With John Beck out Rex Grossman will likely play the entire first half. However we're worried about our depth up front and the ability of our backups to protect him." "No problem, Sean Locklear is a suitable backup that will keep Rex on his feet." "Ummm La Fehur...Locklear" "Locklear is doubtful for tonights game. Willie Smith and Clint Oldenberg will backup Williams and Brown at Tackle." *removes glasses slowly* "Anyone who wanted the Redskins to draft a receiver leave now" |
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
I just wish I could watch the game. I got drug to the bar, at least I get to watch my wifes dolphines take a beating.

Am I hating on McNabb, possibly, but I didn't want him here to begin with and didn't think he would fit this scheme. I also felt he is not the McNabb everyone knew from the past years. All that happened was that McNabb proved some of us right. I don't think Grossman is a star QB but I do think he can get the job done given if the OL blocks, creates openings for the RB's, and we have more weapons other then Moss and AA. |

totally agree with you and this is only preseason. No one wants to divulge all their sneaky tricks right now. So I'm guessing most teams will simply kick through the endzone so there is no injuries prior to the season starting. |

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Gano kicks the ball through the uprights on the kickoff, good start :)
|
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
No, that new rule won't impact KO returns. Nope. Sure won't.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Good collapse by the pocket there, actually the hurried throw helped the Steelers there. I like to see them get to the QB this series.
Go Fletch!! |

|
Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Something tells me Portis would have tripped on that play and turned it into a 2 yard loss.
