I'm also sick of the team for mishandling this situation and wait until now to do something about it. Why insist on making something work out when it is not? We could be focusing on Dallas right now instead of this BS had he'd been shipped off a long time ago.
I really don't think this taking up a lot of MS's time. IF there is anything in the works it should be Allen who is busy and I don't think he draws up game-plans for Sunday. |
re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
I was wondering if something was going on since we chose to keep so many DL...
As much as I hate Haynesworth, late round picks simply arent worth it. Anything less than a 2nd rounder OR a player who can start on our team would make it foolish for us to trade him. Let him play out this year and then, once he's (hopefully) played very well, his value will rise and we can move him in the offseason for something more significant. |

Well, if this were happening to the Cowboys, we'd be all over it. Maybe it is not taking up MS's time...but the coaches have to hear about it, the players have to hear it about it, etc., etc. I would imagine as a team, you would not want any distractions before one of the biggest game of the season. |
re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
No doubt ruhskins. I hope we aren't to worried about one of our own players instead of the defending NFC east champs coming to town. Either way sometiing has to happen today

I really doubt this AH stuff is distracting a guy like McNabb or Portis or Moss. really?! Is it distracting our D? Fletcher? Doubt it. Is it distracting the media? Most definitely. They have something to write about. Its more likely its distracting all of us on this thread! lol |

So how is this any different than the TO drama in Philly and Dallas? Or Chad Ochocinco's in Cincy? You think if this were going on to the Cowboys, we weren't talking about it as if it was the end of the world for them? I'm not saying that this will cause us to lose on Sunday, or that our season is down the drain because of it. But this still is a distraction that the team doesn't need. Just making that point and that the team should've handled this a long time ago. |

Yeah some of these folks are getting themselves worked all up. This just in form Adam Schefter: Don't believe every little rumor I put out. This just in from JLC: Haynesworth just gave Shanahan the finger and told him to sit and rotate. |

LOL! Call him Shotgun from now on. I understand what you are saying about distractions, but these are adult professionals and once the whistle sounds and shoosting begins nobody is thinking about this shit. It is only a distraction if we let it be one. Frankly our mole needs to be found and drowned. |

But Defensewins we live in an era where part of coaching and leading an NFL organization is managing the media perception and properly handling the press. For all of his douchebaggery, Bill Belichick has been brilliant at it. This isn't the day of Vince Lombardi where you can shut the cameras out of the locker room and give some Knute Rockne speech and fire the boys up. Nowadays players tweet, text, blog and everything in between; sometimes during the game. So managing the press is very much a part of how well you prepare, ward off distractions, and focus for an upcoming game. For all the excitement the new Shanahan/Allen era was supposed to generate for the franchise, it has been completely drained by The Haynesworth reality show: He loves me, He loves me not. Another thing, and this isn't directed at you, but I keep hearing we need to get something of value for Haynesworth. What a joke! At this point if the Titans give up any picks and player for Fat Al, it would be the steal of the century. |

I'm just saying that I really doubt this is as distracting to the team as we are all making it out to be on this thread. If I have a fellow employee that doesn't want to work with me at my business it is distracting maybe initially then, but then I go about my job and don't worry about them. I don't think he will get on the field much anyway Sunday because the team can't trust him, so it won't matter when they all get down into their 3 point stances on the field and he is not out there. |

I'm not sure that having AH underperform or sit on the bench results in the Skins getting their money worth. The only way that the team can get their money's worth is to have AH play at an All-Pro level, which to this point he has refused to do. Sometimes cutting losses is the smart strategy. |

True true. To this end I would not be surprised to see AH benched, possibly suspended, and then traded in the offseason. |

I'm going to have to agree with you here. The media has a lot to do with this. Inside Redskin Park it's really not a huge deal. |

So do you think the whole coaching stff sits around and says..."oh my god, what are we going to do with problem child?" lol. Sorry but the coaches are game planning and getting the team ready. Bruce Allen may be making calls but the coaches are more than focused. |

From an outsider perspective ride his ass, let him get on the field just not when he expects to, and tell him you want out, give me some game tape that makes others want to put up with you. |
re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
This AH nonsense makes for some good drama, but it doesn't completely zero out all the positive things that happened this offseason, at least not for me. I could really care less if #92 is out there or not this week. I'm excited about this team and the season. One bad apple doesn't ruin the whole bunch. F him, we're winning whether he's on the field or not.

re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
Britt has badly underachieved since the end of last year, but it's not OUR bonus money, so I'd absolutely be willing to take that offer for him and a pick.
Of course, I'm thinking Tennessee won't be so quick to part with him. Jeff Fisher can work with him. |
re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
This is interesting...
CindyBoren RT @RedskinsInsider McNabb: "We can't win without" Haynesworth. "He plays a major part in our defense and everybody knows that." |

Being consumed with something and being distracted are two different things. Everytime the Redskins coaching staff spends a moment talking about Haynesworth, everytime a player is asked what he thinks about it all is a distraction in my opinion. But the larger point here is that the excitement that was buidling following Shanahan and Allen joining the organization has largely been muted by the Haynesworth drama. The fan base's expectation has been a mixed bag. Now we're in wait in see mode. I will say, however, that a London Fletcher fumble recovery early in the Dallas game will go a long way to erase the negative press and feelings around all of this. A lost to Dallas on the other hand, might have the reverse effect and keep the rumor mill churning for another week or two. Provided that Haynesworth is still on the roster. |

Albert presents a most curious dilema for this team. We want him, but we don't want him. We want him because his presence on the field makes those around him better, [thus he represents value] We dont want him because of so many reasons it will take too long to say. Question for the organization: which way is it going to be? |

This is from his ESPN 980 interview. Very surprised he said that...esp since this is the guy that said that they could win games without TO. |
re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
I hate to say it...but they should have traded haynesworth when he was involved with the Mcnabb trade.
It would have cost us much less than the 2nd and (3rd or 4th) by him being involved in that trade. But this was before we paid him his monster up front bonus and the eagles didn't want to be on the hook for all that money...which is exactly what's going to happen anyways now. We pay haynesworth and ship him, when we could have done the same thing with Philly and traded him for mcnabb and less in draft picks...(probably could have kept our 2nd rounder that they got nate Allen with) But then we would be facing him twice every season,so I don't fault the FO for not doing it either... |
re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
The cool part is we would be getting rid of a malcontent and picking up a talented WR. I know he would not be available right out of the box but he would have 3 games to study his play book and watch the Skins on game day at home drinking a beer. Then he would have 3 weeks to practice what he has learned before he could play. He basically would be showing up in the latter part of our season healthy, and raring to go. Which would help us with our final games against the Giants twice I think, and Dallas.
Assuming you're talking to VJax, in which case it's safe to say the last thing I want him doing is sitting at home drinking anything. The guy already has rumors of being in need of a 12 step program. Two DUI's doesn't help to exactly quell such rumors :D |

re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
Kenny Britt seems to good to be true in regards to these rumors. I mean you're talking about a 6-3 deep threat coming off of a 700 yard rookie campaign in a run first offense. Still trying to figure out if having Vince Young throwing to him should add to his credibility. On top of that Britt has a rookie contract and no suspension hanging over his head. You trade Haynesworth for Britt straight up and you're basically trading Haynesworth for a first round pick. Again, to good to be true.
